Here's a good product every body man should have around! Plastik Honey! It's a good deal all the way around.. Thanks for watching.. Comment below and tell us your experiences with this stuff!
I love this stuff. I take a half quart orof body filler, mix in a bottle of plastik honey at a 1:1 then use that thinned filler as my filler thinner if that makes sense . Dynalite is this shit fuck Bondo.
Been watching Pete since I was a kid.. this man has made me more money than anyone I know.. and made me hate major corporations, bullshit, and the ladder... Also my career lmfao.. Anyways I was working in the cold tonight fighting the filler in the cold.. I moved back up north it gets cold here and my shops not insulated ..and I remembered good Ole Pete had a tip! So I went back and watched some good Ole gold! Cheers Pete and the gang ✌️ kicking ass as always
another day and another great tip. For the normal Joe who is trying to do his own work and save money you have been a great help by sharing your tips. Thanks much appreciated
Hey Pete, holy hell man you wouldn't know how much I needed to watch one of your videos. Haven't been able to get out in the garage so I haven't worked on the rod. Thanks for sending me a pick me up.
The brown stuff on top is polyester fiberglass resin. When applying any type of mud whether it be body filler, drywall mud, concrete polymers, other epoxies always keep the backside of your trowel or applicator wiped clean or you will leave bits and crap behind as well as grooves that create more work than necessary.
I love this Pete, I use polyester resin to thin mine if needed and have told many there are only 2 types filler, bondo - polyester resin with talcum powder and duraglass - polyester resin with glass spheres... no matter what fancy name, brand or price they put on it.
Thank you, thank you this ole farm gal , just bought a suv project - body damage from hail or gravel truck not sure- but it is very cold here in Southern Idaho.. January- I'm so excited, now ..
I live in minnesota and its like 10 degrees out in the garage sometimes even colder ive done a bunch of bondo work in the winter and never had to use this stuff. All i do is bring the entire can of bondo inside the house and let it warm up or point my propane heater right in front of the can to get the bondo warmed up before mixing in the hardener if you warm it up it thins back out and is easy to spread just like normal. Also if the panel is cold sometimes ill aim the propane heater at the panel to blow hot air at it where im gonna do bodywork to warm up the panel otherwise it takes overnight for the bondo to cure but with the heater pointed at the work it cures fast and can be sanded within like 10-15 minutes.
@@diyautoschool understandable, it seems like a good product to be able to customize the viscosity of your bondo to your liking. Also i wonder how thinning it effects things like flexibility and if it makes it easier to sand or harder to sand ect....
No matter if it's Bondo or spray bombs or whatever everything should spend time in the shaker.take a can of Bondo that's been on the shelf and put it in the shaker for a while, makes it nice and creamy
Whats Up my friend i sprayed the primer what grit sandpaper should I use after 360 or 400 to finish the job by the way good videos they helped me on my project
That's where I had the problem is when I laid down the bondo I would try and smooth it down when it was already setting and just left scratches. Then i just let it set then sand and if I had to pay some more filler on itm
I tried thinning bondo down with reducer, and it really worked great. you can get it real creamy and spread it nice and smooth! the only down side is that it takes along time to get hard enough to sand. but I used a heat gun and sped up the process. I've tried thinning it with acetone, and it works, but it evaporates so fast that it's not easy to work with.
Think you meant to say body filler is body filler ..Bondo is actually a brand name, like Evercoat, Eastwood, etc etc ..all make body fillers. But not all body fillers are "Bondo" because that is their brand name.
Only thing I've noticed about using honey is you get an extra thick skin on top of the filler that gums up the paper. I only use Rage Ultra now. Rage has NO skin on top when dry!! In 20 minutes you can hit it with 100 grit and not gum up the paper!
Looks like you have a lot more time to work with your bondo. I seem to only have a few seconds before it starts to harden. I'm working in 95 degree Houston heat. I must be doing something wrong. I would like to have more time to work with my bondo. How do I do that?
Fibre glass resin can be used, stop getting a round deal! When you could be getting a square! Tried and tested yes I know Pete. But what about a head to head comparison? Anyway around here in Canada eh! Cheapest I could find your size container of honey, $72.95 👍⬆️ the you know what! Twice as much resin for $24.99, of course In our looneys lol
that's why you don't put it on thick...keep it thin and it won't crack. Use fiberbond for thick fills then bondo over that, But one should not allow for a thick fill....hammer it out!
what u do is build a stove out of 2 55 gal barrels have 2 6 in tubes wield the 2 6in tubes that are about 1 foot long to the top of one barrel that is on it side with another one on top the one on the bottom is the burner and the top one u put a 8 in tube in the center of barrel for a blower and this will heat a shop in no time maintain the heat really good if not cook u out
I haven’t used Plastik Honey before; I’ve tried “Rondo” with Polyester Resin and Bondo, and when it cures the surface has a tacky surface coat that gums up my sandpaper. Will the Honey do the same resul after curing, anyone know?
i keep it simple, plastic padding fillers for my cars because its the best (uk) any other crap i use for fixing plaster work on houses :P 5:38 thats why i use plastic padding, it wont flake of a spreader like that, it has good bond through out and will flex very well. when its that cold i use a heat gun on the filler/bondo once i got it on the mixing board and BEFORE i add the hardner, that way its nice and flowing again then carry on.
Using Lead is a dying art...takes a lot more time...time is money for businesses. There are a few people out there who still do it though. To me, it's like using a hand screwdriver VS a drill driver....why?
I have a quick question by adding the thinner to the Bondo to cream it does it also slow down the quick setting time in other words will they give you more work time with your Bondo
Any ideas how to fill in a large hole on the rear bumper filler panel. Thought about sewing in fiberglass, coating with bondo glass. Parts are hard to find.
fiberglass patches will work for a short time...if you plan on getting rid of the car soon....etc. The problem with using fiberglass for a patch on metal is it will come loose off the metal. Metal expands and contracts much more than fiberglass and doing that causes moisture to get inbetween the two. I suggest you weld in a metal patch panel. If you don;t have a welder then drill some 1/8 or 3/16" holes around the hole you want to patch then grind smooth. mIx your resin and precut a few pcs of fiberglass mat then put it on over the hole and work the resin and mat into those drilled holes and if you can put more mat and resin on the back side of the hole and over the drilled holes. This will help hold the fiberglass mat onto the metal a bit longer. You can use masking tape to hold the mat and resin onto the panel after you spread the resin on the mat to keep it from sagging/falling off. Resin won't stick to the tape after it has kicked unless you sandwich the tape inside the resin but if that happens then just sand it off with some 36 grit; Good luck.
I suggest to possibly get a junk bumper cover and cut the piece out you need then glue gun it back in using platstic glue sticks.. then do the final body work and prime and paint...
@@hallpaintandbody7717 Sorry I thought you were talking about metal...plastic shit does not bond with fiberglass worth a crap....do what DIY says. Or go get a good one from a wrecking yard. The key to anything in life buddy is patience. You are on the right track by ASKING QUESTIONS! KEEP ASKING! That's how we all learn.....ask, research, watch, study.....
@@coherantbliss3483 I saw the video on the fake metal shit, good video. Sent a picture to Pete, 2 coats of fiberglass cloth resin on backside then bodywork on top
There's a channel sprayway customs that I've seen. Mix resin with bondo and he calls it Rondo and does a similar mix. Just wondering is that the same and can that be used that way and be ok?
the voice in the intro sounds like the talking toilet on Better Call Saul...Oh Yea Chandler,,youre a big boy Chandler,,Ohh Yea ..give it to me Chandler,,i want it allllll,,,LOL
, my first fuck up was a $60 gallon of evercoat, my 2nd mistake was I did not use enuff hardner , it's applyed to bed panel , and didn't cure Pete,? What would u do man? Thanks for the info 👍
I bought 2K "Epoxy Filler" in europe, It looks exactly like your american "bondo". Goes on the same way but has 50 minute pot-life and then hardens in a day or two depending on temperature. Could it be better than bondo, it was fairly expensive.
Hey Pete, how did you like the frost heaves on the Navajo Reservation. I actually thought I lost my camper about 20 times. That must have been a Bitch pulling a trailer.
It was COLD but it was a beautiful sight.. Peaceful and quite and the fresh air was amazing.. Can't wait to get to Moab and out of this CONCRETE CITY! Actually pulling the trailer with the weight on it was what kept us going. Do you live around there????
Wouldn't that just be corporate B's. Styrene is what's in Bondo for thinner just use styrene not plastic honey. IDK. I dig this dude for say it's all the same. Haven't painted in 25 years I'm so damn confused.
UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN , the way it was explained to me is the different levels of filler are just different viscosity, so one is runnier than the other, some i will say are lighter than others and still just as dense, we use crest skim coat for our final coat befor primer, my boss swears the hardner in the little tubes is different than in the bigger tubes, it isn't , but his name is on the building, so ,,
I like using "RED" hardner the best, but it seems they only sell blue now... But don't listen to me because this guy Isrel Kelley seems to have all the answers on here!
@Israel Kelley no it doesnt! I call BS on this old myth... Ive used blue and red over the last 26 years, and there is no bleed through. If you have bleed through, maybe you didnt mix your filler properly. Or you were using junk primer...
I guess if you want to be "POLITICALLY Correct", sure call it body filler! Kinda like saying a tooth filling is a "TREATMENT PLAN"! It's FUCKING BONDO!
Yes, they are body fillers! Bondo is a body filler made under 3M, just like Evercoat make their own body filler. Its like Kleenex! Kleenex is only a brand of tissue paper...but most people ask to grab them a Kleenex to blow their nose...lol.
Hey Pete if you stop saying the word fuck then you could save hours in editing time dubbing it out. lmao Do your vids get demonitized when you use the f word but not other curse words? What's the reason for the f censorship? Do tell us.
