Cetrotide is an injectable medication used in IVF treatment. It has a strength of 0,25mg. You usually start administering it on the 5th, 6th or the 7th day of ovarian stimulation. I would like to show you now how it's used.
First of all, before every application, please make sure that you wash your hands and place the box on a clean surface. Please open the cover as shown. Inside, you will find 2 wet wipes, a fluid-filled injector, a vial and two needle tips. Unscrew the lid of the injector. Remove the packaging of the yellow coloured needle and screw it onto the injector. Open the lid of the vial and the syringe. Insert the needle into the vial and completely empty the fluid into the vial. Then, gently shake the vial as shown and make sure the powder completely dissolves. Afer making sure that the powder is dissolved, turn the injector upside down and pull the fluid back into the injector. Afterwards, remove the yellow coloured needle by first putting the cap and then unscrewing it. To prepare for administration, screw the black needle tip onto the injector. After attaching the needle tip, I can see that there is air inside and I am releasing it as shown. Remove the cap and aim for 5cm right or left of your belly button. Before administering, make sure you wipe the area with one of the wet wipes. Then administer the injection perpendicularly by holding your skin with your other hand. Completely empty the content of the injector.
You can then remove the injector slowly and wipe the administered area with the other wet wipe. Cover the lid of the needle once finished. You can then discard all the contents.
