If you’re just starting out, English - Mandarin might be more suitable. If you already have some knowledge about Mandarin, you can try to use Mandarin only dictionaries. Just use what feels right for you :)
I do find the Chinese English dictionary fascinating and spend a lot of time consulting mine . One of the most intriguing aspects is recognition of the radicals for instance 农 at first sight I thought it was the roof radical but could not find the word then I thought it may be the downward 丿 radical and so on , but it turned out to be the 丶dot radical and hence the word 农 nóng (agriculture ) was the word . Sometimes it is a slog to find the words but it gives a sense of achievement to get there .
This is the one we used in elementary school. The others I've used are more advanced than this one. However, if you have any other requirements, such as a mix of Chinese and English, I can help you look for one.

Sorry I don’t know is there any dictionary for Portuguese speakers, maybe you can google Portuguese-Chinese dictionary. You can just search Xinhua dictionary for the one that I’m using in Amazon.
