I made no secret of this. In-fact not only does it say so in the description, and why, I also literally showed the screen being flipped at 14 seconds in. It makes no difference, the outcome is exactly the same, ie it makes it easier for left handed people to follow.
one time, I was at a Korean restaurant and they only gave us chopsticks and I didn't know how to use them. it was embarrassing for an Asian to ask for a fork.
Seems like im not the only army trying to be like bangtan lmao but dont worry youll get the hang of it it hurts for a while but younhand will get strength the mire yiu do it
I envy cultures where chopsticks are standard, just because; 1. They’re the coolest utensils 2. It’s so much easier to learn any other utensil later in life.
2 hours ago I thought this impossible. Now I have eaten sushi, noodles, popcorn, nuts and I am entertaining my family, while they play social games, by picking up various things. Very good tutorial, thank you
Nice one! Yes it's all about practice!!! Lot;s of it. That's why I say about practising with snacks. I'm really glad it helped, enjoy using them in the future! 😃👍
After desiring to eat with chopsticks for years, looking at various Asians on YT, trying and failing and giving up and trying again in cycles, I looked at your tutorial and in less than 3 minutes I got it! 🎉😂 There is a teacher out there for everyone, that's why we are different and the same in many ways. Thank you😊 A mini goal is accomplished today🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
It is! I don’t know why. I used some training/cheat chopsticks we got from a restaurant awhile back to eat my ramen this morning instead of a fork. It felt really nice.
I have tried for over 40 years to use chopsticks. I never succeeded until I saw your video. What’s even better is, I just ate about 10 chocolate covered raisins…with chopsticks! How awesome is that. I didn’t have any toffee or caramel popcorn, so I figured chocolate covered raisins would be good practice. Thank you so much!
That's excellent. I'm really glad it helped. Chocolate raisins is another brilliant snack for practice (and very yummy, I love them haha). That's the idea, doesn't really matter so much what the snack is as long as it's something u enjoy, so the practice will be enjoyable, as to learn them it's basically just practice. Enjoy using them in the future! 😃👍
Yeah, it was the same for me too, but it does get better and easier with practice, thankfully. I think in the beginning we hold them quite tight to help stop them from slipping, but as we get better our hand naturally relaxes, plus it gets stronger. Good luck!
I've been struggling so much and watched like 10 videos (shorts included) to learn how to hold them and this video is the only one who taught me properly. Great vid, love it!

Why I feel the need to sit on my bedroom floor and learn how to use chopsticks at 12:45 in the morning is beyond me, but it's kinda fun. This video made so much sense, idk why it's taken so many years to click in my brain on how to use chopsticks but now that it has I'm so excited to use them. 😆
I learnt within few mins of watching and some practice (kinda few months ago) I just dropped by again rn to show my younger sister this method of using chopsticks. Now she's learning! THIS is the best video on RU-vid! Thank you so much, Lee.☺️
Im an indian. I dnt know how to eat with chopstick, but i love to eat, just now i have watched ur video. Its very helpfull for me ill try.Thank you 🤗😊🇮🇳
I have never been able to use chopsticks and I literally nailed it straight away with this video! For me it wasn’t what I was doing with the thumb that was the issue it was what I was doing with the middle finger. I was resting it on the bottom one and just using the index finger to control the top, instead of using them both to control the top one! Thank you so much!
@@jj.nongrumjj.nongrum8129 it not necessary to use spoon . Spoon can also be infected , so don't say better to use spoon. Wash your hands and eat with it.
Haha. Well it wasn't intended to tell people who can already use them whether their way is right or wrong, but just to teach those who cant already use them how to. But yes, this is considered the correct way. 😃👍😃
this man really said "...if you disliked you dislike the video..." this man is honest and humble and deserves a like with that sentence alone. but I'm really thankful for the tutorial
Thanks! Whenever we get chinese food it comes with chopsticks and my fam makes fun of me for not knowing how to use chopsticks. The best part is- they dont know either, lol.
I've watched multiple videos to learn chopsticks and this is the first one that worked for me. I'm cramping my hand up but at least I'm finally grabbing at the same time! Cheers
Nice one! I'm glad it helped, enjoy using them in the future! And it was the same for me too, but it does get better and easier with practice, thankfully. I think in the beginning we hold them quite tight to help stop them from slipping, but as we get better our hand naturally relaxes, plus it gets stronger. Good luck!
@@dianiniii make sure you’re relaxing the hand when you’re first learning. You might just be subconsciously tightening muscles in the hand that doesn’t need tightening
It's a skill so it takes practice, most people can't do it right away, like riding a bike. The tip about practising with snacks helps a lot, then you'll be ready for next time. Good luck! 😃👍
i find it hard to hold the bottom stick in place because when i start moving, even if my thumb is motionless the bottom stick will slide off of my finger
Ahh sweetie! I have tried to use chopsticks for many, many years to no avail. Finally , at long last I have now mastered this, thanks to you & your precise, patient & detailed instructions. I am so proud of myself & so appreciative to you! Take care & thank you again. So glad to subscribe.
Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm really glad it helped, I do like knowing it helped people learn to use them. Thank you and enjoy using them in the future! 😃👍
The popcorn and peanut trick is amazing, not only you're practicing how to use chopsticks properly, but you're also enjoying something delicious and thus motivating yourself even more.
Asian's just eat rice as practice but in reality you're just eating food. It's like the secret to being a good basketball player is... playing more basketball.
It’s 7am. I do not have/own chopsticks I do not plan to use them I’m not even hungry. 2 of my family members have asked what I’m doing and. My response just made them think I’m special.
Thank you. Well this is technically the 'correct' way to use them but I'm of the opinion if you can already use them a different way then you're fine, native users use them all different ways too. Unless you're wanting to learn the 'correct' method, thats up to you. :) I like your channel btw! Very well made videos, those puppies in Cambodia, I'd want to care for them too!!!
Decided to use chopsticks to help with overeating and learning to enjoy food taste more. I was pretty close but didn't know the thumb was to be held straight. Thank you so much
This video is intended to teach people how to use chopsticks can't who already use them. It's not intended to tell people who already can to use them any differently.
Yeah it will for some at first, its practice.. practice practice and more practice. I know it seemed daft but the popcorn trick really works. The best thing to learn is to get some small food, like popcorn or anything and eat the lot using them, even if it takes u ages. I'd never used chopsticks before, then when I was away on holiday with friends outside a restaurant I ordered a fried rice dish and got chopsticks. I struggled but persisted and eventually ate it all with them... it took me ages and the food was completely cold by the time I finished and my hand was killing me but from then on I was able to use them and I got better the more times I used them. Grab yourself some popcorn or something and put a movie on and eat the lot using them, just keep practicing!!! Good luck! :D
It's because you should be bracing it not on top of the ring finger, but you should be using the ring finger for extra stability with that stick. So instead of placing it near the knuckle of the ring finger like he shows in the video, you should be placing it at the tip and you will notice a lot more control and you will have extra grip strength available with your stick use as well. Since you are not used to it yet you will still notice that your hand will cramp with use because you are doing a maneuver you rarely do. But over time if you use it a lot you will notice it becoming much easier.
Uuhhhh it took me only some hour's to nicely use it 😁 but at first I had used to practice it with pen's and I didn't knew the right way to use it and I thought it was right and practice it with pen's and later l bought chopsticks and saw this video and learn it very fast 😉
@@perayaforeever3910 same here .... I too tried with pens , pencil's and small peace's of sticks and now I'm ready for it. ....... I can handle the Chopstick very well.......😅
Me : living in a country with full of Chinese ppl Also me : tries to eat the glossy noodles with the chopsticks The 6yo Chinese girl who can eat with chopsticks perfectly : lol Me : T_T
Thank you, your explanation is very clear and useful. I’ve been using chopsticks for years but actually never knew how to use them correctly. Thank you I’m practicing now
Once you know how you should hold them, then it's all about practice and repetition until you can do it. The tip about practicing with snacks for the repetition helps a lot. It's about struggling through, trying to eat the snacks with them until it slowly gets easier. Good luck!
Thank you so much for noticing and replying. It's actually a lot of work to do, for example I've just spent the last 3 hours replying to comment and my hand is aching and I'm getting a headache lol and many left to do, but I do like to respond to people who take the time to post nice messages and especially those saying how my video helped them learn. I love knowing my video helped them learn to use them. 😃👍
Im half asian and live in asia since im 5 until now. Been almost everywhere in asia and the most awesome technic when eating is using hand ✋ its easy just wash your hands then eat!! i learned that in the Philippines. So why not go for the easiest way,.. right? 😂😂
Haha, if you can eat with them then you are using them right. This tutorial is intended to teach people who can't use them how to use them. It's not intended to tell people who can already use them that they should use them differently. There are many ways, it's up to you how you use them really. 😃👍
This is the BEST tutorial for learning how to use chopsticks , WELL DONE Gosh i have been wanting to learn this for YEARS! idk why I'm searching for it now!
Thank you!!! Yes you are exactly right! Once you know how then it's just down to practice and repetition for the muscle memory that makes perfect. The tip about practising with snacks helps a lot. Enjoy using them in the future! 😃👍
Haha, depends how hungry you are at the time. Seriously tho, it does get easier over time, you just need to stick with it. Geddit, stick.. I'll get my coat :D
I had the same problem before , but the golden rule is to fix your thumb and squeeze the bottom chopstick with bottom of the your thumb and the ring finger, just some practice and you're good .
Thank you! I can use chopsticks, but I’m clumsy with them . I wondered why I sometimes crossed my sticks, now I know I’m not holding the bottom steady with my thumb. Exactly what I needed. I can hardly wait to try them again.
Nice one! And You're welcome. I'm really glad it helped, enjoy using them in the future! It just takes practice, the tip about practising with snacks helps a lot. Good luck!
As an Asian myself, I highly approve your video, and will recommend it to other people. Thanks so much for appreciating our culture and the use of chopsticks.
