📚 My book, Seasons and Reflections, is available as an eBook and a re-released hardback from Amazon or at a discounted rate through my website: www.andrewpitt.co.uk where there are also links to other videos and painting resources.
======
In this video, I look at how to add interesting colors to the shadows of the paintings. As ever, I show a full-length, real-time painting demonstration, from sketch through to finished piece, with nothing cut out or hidden, showing every colour mix and every brush stroke.
This video is a demonstration of direct watercolour painting - touching the paper once with the brush - to retain the essential freshness of watercolour.

Every color mix, every brush stroke chosen with purpose and care, yet seemingly natural and spontaneous. That is the mark of a true master of the art.

Thank you so much for this. The real time, and your narration make this one I will try for sure. You teach as you go...and the "touch once" approach is very interesting to me. I feel like I've overworked many paintings and regretted it. Thank you again! I'm already looking forward to your next one!

Do you find it is easier painting loose when using a half sheet of Imperial? I am going to paint this scene a few times on quarter sheet then will try a half sheet after I understand the image.

Andrew you make every stroke look so natural and you turn a white space into a beautiful piece of art. At the same time you explain everything so well that every one feels like .Yes I think I can understand that and do that too.Your a very good teacher as well as an excellent landscape artist. 🥰

It's just magic, how those last little strokes completed and indeed elevated the picture to a very pleasant piece of art.

The very best advice for any watercolor artist is to only paint it once. Thank you I knew that but watching you really shows the benefit!
