weird i do not find complimentary colors appealing special the red and green christmas combo . Take a red line and put it next a green one it just look awful , but red/orange and blue tones i just love how it looks and the colors really pop from each other .

You are just sooo adorable! Great advice, will definitely think about it in editing from now on. What you said about the colours we see in art, was right on to convince me. I just had the image of Van Gogh's 'Bedroom in Arles' come to mind. :)

yeah, i mean, Complementary Colors are quite a big deal in big movie productions, where the Skin Tone allways have to be orange while the background (and the cool image parts) are cyan.

Awesome video, but isn't the correct complementary color of Red actually Cyan? The traditional color model has been abandoned by almost all except painters, especially those of us working in RGB color spaces. (sRGB, Adobe 1998, and ProPhoto)

its called a layer mask... the icon to apply a layer mask is right of the FX icon in your layer panel... if you paint on a layer mask with black than the pixels of your layer will get transperent... with white theyll become visible with grey paint theyll get a oppacity thats greater than 0% but lesser than 100%

Phlearn, i generaly enjoy your videos and from a 'learning' standpoint, this is another grat find. however. im glad you included the comment(s) that this vid is more your personal preference, because i think you missed the mark somewhat here. coloring out the 'claw' and the 'growth from her head' was a keen eye but the coloring imho is a bit off and the slight desaturation is amazing in the original. so in this tut, you didnt 'FIX' it. i prefer the original. ;-]

HI Aaron, can you please let me know how many counts of portion do you use? I recently bought a Intuos Draw, for first three days,I find it more comfortable in 5500 right 3094 bottom (force proportion), but I am having a hard time clicking small buttons or icons, even double clicking. Same like you, I don't like my hand going crazy on the whole active area

Complementary colours are pairs of colours which, when combined in the right proportions, produce white or black. When placed next to each other, they create the strongest contrast and reinforce each other. They are widely used in art and design. The pairs of complementary colours vary depending upon the colour model, and how the colour is made. In painting, which uses subtractive colours, the traditional primary-secondary complementary colour pairs, described since at least the early 18th century, were red-green, yellow-violet, and blue-orange. BUT In the more accurate RGB colour model, used to make colours on computer displays, red, green and blue light are combined at various intensities to make all the other colours. In this system, using additive colours, the complementary pairs are red-cyan, green-magenta, and blue-yellow. In colour printing, another system of subtractive colours, the colours cyan, magenta, yellow and black are used to produce all printed colours; the CMYK-system complementary pairs are the same as in the RGB system: red-cyan, green-magenta, and blue-yellow.

I do not understand how to make the layer mask reverse work. I got that far but I can't get it to let me change the color with the brush. I wish you went a bit slower or said what exactly you were doing so I could see/hear the things I am missing, pause and then try them my self, right now it can be extremely hard to follow since I am not yet adept in PS and I don't know all the nifty shortcut tricks your using so quickly.

Why do photographers use MAC computers for editing photos ?? Are they better than PCs ??
@Mannythephotographer
@Mannythephotographer 9 лет назад
Macs seem to be better at allocating RAM and multitasking than MOST regular everyday PCs; with a mac that has enough memory, you can easily have Photoshop running while doing other tasks, but this is not the case on Windows. I use windows on my regular basic Asus PC, and it barely handles PS. However, the windows-run desktops in the computer lab are blazing fast. So it depends on the specs of our computer. One can't compare a Mac with a basic $300-$400 windows PC, but because Macs do not vary, we end up doing it.
@WTF_BBQ
@WTF_BBQ 9 лет назад
Emmanuel Adepoju that's good to know. My computer is core i7 with nvidia dedicated graphics card and it stutters with light room running and sometimes Photoshop, but not as bad.
@EdwinFairchild
@EdwinFairchild 9 лет назад
gconol Read the Adobe white Papers , its a report they did saying their software is the same on both systems it all depends on specs and specs alone. Stack up your ram and a decent processor and you should be fine. anything over 8gb ram and you should do fine
@adelmorse173
@adelmorse173 9 лет назад
Emmanuel Adepoju *"Macs seem to be better at allocating RAM and multitasking than MOST regular everyday PCs; with a mac that has enough memory, you can easily have Photoshop running while doing other tasks, but this is not the case on Windows"* Sorry, but you're clearly not properly informed about modern PC hardware and operating systems like Windows 8 and the upcoming 10. The reason why Mac is the standard, because they were able to set the standard like 20 years ago when PCs and Windows were indeed less suited for this kind of work, but that's absolutely not the case anymore in 2015. Right now it's just a matter of personal preference. Marty Geller, who also teaches Photoshop on RU-vid, is an example of that, he uses a PC and look at his resume: "Marty Geller, Founder & Director of Blue Lightning TV, has a long career providing on-air & print work for the television & entertainment industries. Clients include NBC/Universal, ABC, CBS, VH-1, numerous advertising agencies, national magazines, recording labels & major book publishers. His television work includes "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "Saturday Night Live", "Dateline NBC", "Today", VH-1 and Paramount. His print work includes designing record album covers, book covers, logos, illustrations & theatrical posters that appeared on Broadway and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.. Marty has received Emmy Awards in Artistic Achievement for his work in television and numerous awards for his work in Print." Go figure....

+Merrit Olson Let me see.... you had an old PC with an old version of Windows, clogged up with all the junk you liked to install, a cheap PC you bought for a few hundred bucks at Wal-Mart from a shitty brand instead of buying a $1,200 Lenovo, then you decide to spend 4 times more to get a brand new Mac and now you're surprised that it "feels" better? How do you think it feels when you dump an 8 year old Ford Fiesta and buy a brand new BMW? *_"Ill never go back to Windows for my main editing machine (even though I still use both)"_* It's funny how you contradict yourself in one sentence. As a matter of fact, it's funny how Mac users always like to claim how awesome their Mac is, while still using Windows. *_"Only thing I can say is get one"_* My son got one... used it for 4 years, he even bought an iPhone. You know what's he's using since a few months? A Windows 10 laptop and an Samsung android phone. Sorry to burst your bubble, but not everybody shares the same opinion as you. You know, it's like flying a plane. You would tell us that a Cessna 170 is better than a Boeing or Airbus jet, because it's out-of-the-box easier easier to fly than the other ones. That's the kind of silly logic you use... wink, wink.
