How to Use El Gato with PS4 (Record HD 1080p Gameplay)
I'm using an El Gato Game Capture HD:

Setting up an El Gato to record with the Playstation 4
The El Gato can record Xbox or Playstation console gameplay in full HD 1080p. It's an HD Game Capture Card.
What will you need?
2 HDMI Cables
A Playstation 4 with its AC Power Cord
The El Gato box
A USB to mini USB cable
First thing to do is go into PS4's settings, then System, then make sure that Enable HDCP is not checked. It is OFF.
The wiring and setup:
HDMI In - has HDMI cable plugged into PS4
HDMI Out - has HDMI cable plugged into Monitor/TV
USB - has miniUSB plugged into El Gato and USB side plugged into the Computer
El Gato Game Capture Software:

Download and install the file. Make sure to pay attention to the system requirements, which is also on the link above

If the Monitor or TV does not display the PS4 after wiring up and turning on the El Gato Game Caputre HD, then wait a bit. If there is no detection of signal, make sure that your settings has the correct input device, which would be Playstation 4.

Hey, nice video. I've a Question, I bought El Gato HD 60FPS and I don't know how to record my voice and game audio at the same time. If I use my headset, the audio output goes to the headset, so El gato can't record it. If I turn off my headsets (allowing audio output from TV) I can't record my voice. What should I do?

So, this video has been great, but I am curious. For PS4 you have to stream and be in a party and have the party set theri options to "allow voice to be shared" and so on JUST to capture them. Will this eliminate that nonsense? Also, will you be able to capture the audio of other random players in lobbies like GTA online or CoD? And finally, will it capture facecam with the PS4 camera?

so to be clear you just need to wire it to ps4 and PC ??? bcs its really problem i hoped it will like capture video to that box and than you took it and connect it to PC like USB for example and there you can do anything with that this suck pretty much not everyone has console next to pc --.......--

So I have my computer right next to my tv, but do I have to have an hdmi monitor too or does just my computer (i have a desktop) have to have hdmi? My tv has only one hdmi port which the ps4 is using up... You just lost me when you started plugging in stuff into the elgato with all this hdmi stuff..

No, the only thing you plug into your PC is the USB plug from the Elgato to the computer. The he I setup is PS4 to Elgato then Elgato to Monitor or TV. Hope that solves your problem. :]

So your monitor needs to have a HMDI slot? I have a DVI to HDMI thingy since my monitor doesn't have a literal slot for HDMI. Will that still work if I use that instead?

I believe so. If you put the HDMI side into HDMI out of El Gato, and the other side into the HDMI to DVI into your monitor, the El Gato should work.

If the HDMI cable's long enough, you can have the El Gato fairly far from the computer. I think that it'll absolutely work for you.

I see. So you don't have a laptop to record? Well, I see the problem. That's pretty far. You would need extra long cables to your computer. But if you have a long enough cable, then you can connect your PS4 to your PC to your TV.

LeagueOfShadows 420 Well first of all, the normal El Gato cannot do 1080p 60fps, it can only do 720p 60fps if you do the settings right. For 1080p 60fps, you need to buy the Elgat HD60. Other than that, make sure you wait a good while, it can take some time for RU-vid to process 60fps.

I use my HDTV as a monitor from my PC, my pc has a mini hdmi on the GPU to normal hdmi going to the tv, can this work with my ps4 ?? there are only 2 hdmi ports on my tv

It should be able to work. In the wiring I did in the video, you connect to the TV with your HDMI cable like usual, and all the extra wires are plugged into the El Gato then back to the console. As long as you have that extra HDMI port on your TV that is for the console, you should be fine.

Here's a question I've had a while with el gato, and I haven't read a specific solution to it. How do I use xsplit AND el gato? If I use the el gato it works fine, if I add it on xsplit, I get no signal. Solution?

I honestly have no idea. I think those two counter-act each other because the programs are incompatible possibly. BUT I saw this forum link to instead of using the El Gato software. Ahh thanks for the reply. I actually figured it out eventually. When adding the El Gato as a camera, it doesn't register your original settings in the actual el gato application. So you have to configure the settings inside Xsplit. Turns out there's a configure settings button inside the settings of the el gato when you add it.

Thnx a lot bro.. The last time I did this... My dumbass straight hooked up plug in the hdmi ports without before doing that "Enable HDCP" shit. from that.. It straight up fucked up one of my spare hdmi cord ( also was the longest hdmi cord in the house ). Further of more, thank you for metioning that and now I can record my gameplay!!!
