Probably one of the easiest ways to build your own WordPress theme designs is to use Elementor Pro, the WordPress drag and drop builder. Quickly create archives pages, single pages, headers and footers and so much more, all inside a drag & drop interface.
In this beginners guide, I'll take you through the fundamental tools & skills used in the Elementor Theme Builder to build your own website and core theme pages, quickly and without any technical jargon.

After helping a client with an Elementor-built site, I'm sold! In the process of moving my own three sites from (ugh slow!) Divi to Hello Elementor + El Pro -- SO much easier than Divi to scratch build to exact needs! Thank you for the detailed, complete, and downright simple explanation. I thought this was the process and you confirmed it for me.

I have a followup question, but first I have to say what a wonderful job you have done with this tutorial. This is the only time I've seen the Elementor Theme Builder explained in a way that makes sense. You covered everything I need to get started on building a theme, everything ;you did was explained very clearly, *and* I loved the fact that you avoided going off track by getting into meaningless details and adjustments. Perfect. Here's my question: While watching you build this theme, I kept waiting for you to show what we would do with the theme after we have created all the templates. I mean...when I get a theme from the WordPress.org site, the theme is all put together into a Zip file, which I can download to my computer and then install on my website. So, if I follow your instructions here, and build a new theme...how would I "package" the theme and give it to a friend of mine? I can't quite see how that's done. Can you explain that, please? Thank you.

Using Elementor Pro to build your theme isn't the same as more general WordPress theme design. A better way to look at it would be that you're building an Elementor based theme; something that will only work as part of an Elementor Pro install. While you can't 'package' all the files like a traditional WP Theme, you can export all the theme template files created with EPro and then you can simply build a new EPro based site, go to your Theme Builder and choose to import template. I believe you can then upload the individual JSON files or upload a zip with all your JSON files included (don't quote me on the last part, it's been a while since I imported multiple files). I hope that helps.

I hope you're still monitoring these comments. I need to create archive pages for specific categories of posts. I don't see a way to designate a specific category, i.e. Training, Operator Newsletters, etc. Thank you for the time and care you put into your videos.

This was a great tutorial!!! I guess I was wondering if, once you put all of these Site parts together in Theme Builder, do you, or could you, put them all together to make a complete theme? Or do you just use the parts in theme builder. Like If I was to create an ecommerce site and then I wanted to create a blog site, do I just use what's in theme builder? I guess I'm wondering if there's a way to combine all the elements and save it as a theme file

So with the “Hello” theme in ongoing development and not getting the benefits of auto-updates from WordPress.org theme repo, would it be prudent to suggest still using a child theme on top of “Hello”? For example to add any custom functions etc.

Definitely! If you're making any changes to the core theme, even when you're not relying on a complex theme, it makes total sense to ensure you use a child theme for those edits. 😁

After watching this I wonder if using Astra (free) is even advantageous or if I should just use Elementor Pro for all templates? Would the css and js pages be lighter and load faster?

Definitely. If you need to make any modifications to the core theme files, it's always best to use a child theme. I don't think there is an option to download a child theme I'm afraid. As far as I know, you'd need to setup your own.

How can I get Elementor Header Template to display only on WooCommerce products and archives in Product Category and all children of that category? So let's say I have a Product Category "Fashion", I want to show a different header on all products and category pages that are in or children of "Fashion" ... so all of these (basically "Fashion" and everything that belongs to "Fashion"): Fashion - Clothing -- Mens Clothing

Technically you probably could try running 2+ page builders on a single site, but I would generally recommend against it as it may cause issues with conflicts on either the front end or the back end (or both).

May I please, please have a bit of help. I want to create a blog page With Elementor Pro. My problem is that I have Elementor Pro and Anywhere Elementor Pro and I can't figure out how to get WP to display it. I'm not talking about a single post template. Those are easy enough to make and use. I want a page that is going to come up when someone clicks on a Nav link that says Blog. One that I can put say... three rows of four columns, that when they click on "Read More" they are taken to the single post template. I made a nice one and styled it using cards in Elementor just creating a page in WP and assigning it to be the post page in WP and the themes customize section. Nothing came up when I clicked on the Blog link. Not even the themes blog page. It was just blank, except for the custom sidebar I made using AE. Very confusing to me. Ya know... videos are great and I learn from then all the time, but DAMN... is there no one that has made any Elementor cheat pages? You know... like this... Build a custom sidebar 1. bla bla bla. 2. bla bla bla. That is really what would help me and I am sure others as well. Thank you for your time, John

I have a large number of images, have just come across Wicked Folders having previously been using WP Media Folder, following your Toolset Video, (in them you did mention there would be more that the current 2...still waiting) So my environment is Elementor Pro 2.4.7 and Toolset (Which I discovered the hard way does not currently support Galleries...), can you recommend/suggest some "Media Manager" plugins and or approaches? On a Good/Bad day I may be creating 50 posts, each with maybe 40 images, I went with the Hello theme, as per this video, to reduce the number of different image sizes (other themes create) as they were upsetting Hostgator. Thanks

Hi, I am using Genesis and elementor theme builder. I have a confusion. Is it necessary to use child theme with genesis and why? why i can use theme builder directly on genesis? Please if I need a child theme tell me very lightweight child theme so it does not affect my seo.

If you have no intention of editing ANY of the Genesis files, then the need for a child theme is irrelevant. However, if you intend to make edits to the css file, any core files or the fuctions.php file, then using a child theme means you can update the main theme without any concerns for your edits being overwritten. I've never used Genesis, so I'm not up to speed on how you access child themes, but a very quick search revealed this (www.studiopress.com/sample/) which may work for you. As for SEO, using a child theme isn't going to affect that.

Very Good, best so far. No-one has created nearly full vid like that in Hello Theme. Do you have one for the Hello theme for Side bar Widgets like this: prntscr.com/mr38dp ? Or we need to use plugins for Wigets? Cheers.
