What a great video/tutorial! Thank you for putting this together. Simple instructions for something that would've taken me who knows how long to figure out myself. :)
Great video. So many times we see videos about how to do this or that, but they don't really dive into the details on a specific topic. This type of video is what we want. It is very specific and informative! Thanks to you both for the awesome info!
I have a mac at home (garageband) but can take my yeti blue mic with me along with my PC laptop (likely Audacity)can the two get along or is it too confusing for a beginner such as myself. I love my big screem iMac and comfy chair for final editing.

Thanks so much. Very helpful. I've one question: I see that you line up each new segment slightly underneath the previous one. Does that not cut off some of the previous segment? I would've thought you'd line them up underneath the very END of the previous segment? Thanks for letting me know when you can.
This is pretty great. I have been using GarageBand for my intros but not for the whole show. I'm gonna have to try this for the next episode I do. Favorite takeaway was the CMD+T to cut the track because I haven't been able to figure that shit out.
Older video now, good stuff. Now, you can cut the beginning and end off without splitting by dragging the brackets that pop up when your mouse is over the track.
Version control. If you're working with that much content you should give serious consideration to version control. Your intro, outro, whatever may change over time and you might need to get that old version back. Even when you're creating these standard tracks you might want to go back to an old version. Finally, it makes it simple to keep an offsite copy of your data. Git is pretty standard in the software world, and there area lot of UI front ends for it for the command line challenged. github.com
Great video. I am traveling a lot for my podcast and I do not want to always take my laptop with me into the field to record. I purchased a Zoom H6 recorder. I usually have 3-4 people on a recording. How do I get the recording (with the multiple tracks) into garage band and edit etc before sending to RSS host?
Nice video, easy to follow. Would be nice to elaborate on the metadata topic, how it can be done externally to Auphonic. Moreover, the reason for being on Libsyn would be also good to cover as alluded to it on Tim's blog, which would be written up/published in some form sometime in the future.
this info is great and super easy to follow! however my ECamm does not give me the option to split the tracks- how did you get that full menu with all of the options to show? my menu only says 'ecamm tools' and i cannot get all of the splitting options to show
Question: so I made all the files but my intro-music and my introduction records with two audiowaves and the others all record showing one audio wave. What did I do wrong?
If I'm podcasting with 2 others remotely. Do I just have three audio tracks instead of two like in your example? Or would each person need to send me their audio file. That seems like extra work that may not be necessary.
Fresh back from a surf and half way through Pat Flynn's 'PowerUpPodcasting' Course, and I come across this video.... Tim Ferris- you were one of the first people to FUEL the INNER SPARK within me... Prompting me to seek outside the 9to5 Corporate world !! I will be interviewing you before we both know it :) Helping people find their unique GIFT
Great video. When you're finished with your first podcast, whats next ? How do I take it where people can hear it? Any good websites to publish your podcasts so others can listen to it? Thank you.
Hey Pat, thanks for this great vid. I'm at a stand still bc I don't seem to have those tools when I press open with. I had to download to mp3 app. I don't know what or where to get the split video from. When you have the time could you or the community help me with this?
Thanks for this great tutorial. It’s a blessing. I want to know how to use my keyboard to record new music personally. Can you educate me? You did a good job and It’s my pleasure joining you.
THANKS so much for posting this - really useful. I just made my first episode and it only took a couple of hours! Couldn't have done it without you, Pat/Tim!
This is a very helpful video for organization of your podcast flow. Thank you. My first couple of episodes were tough to edit, I now have my ,aster template setup for future episodes.
What a Sweetie! Thanks a lot. I've just bought the mic, the headset, and now garageband which I didn't have on my computer and had to buy from ebay. I will undoubtedly replay your video ad nauseum till I get it all mastered
Totally saved me with this. Love love love this Pat! You rock! So thankful to you for showing us how to Podcasts with Garage Band. :) You just made my life so much easier!
Great tutorial.. Thank you. Question... How can I adjust the total length of the final Podcast to a specific time (example 25:00 minutes exactly) final podcast is always either short or long 20-60 seconds. Note: I don't want to change the voice pitch.
Awesome video, thanks. Curious, if anyone has some resources for how to find and get music approved and then how to record a similar intro music file, would love to hear about it. Cant figure out how to splice the music and voice over into 1 file
