www.ehowtodj.com - Quick "DJ Tutorial" for beginners to Virtual DJ. We show you how to use headphones with Virtual DJ, the cheapest way possible and mainly if you are using a laptop.
For this you usually need a second sound card (USB) as most laptops only have headphone and mic sockets. If your laptop also has a line-in socket, you may be able to configure your soundcard for 5.1 output, and use 1 output for headphones, and the other for master volume to your speakers. This is also the same for desktop PCs, as they mostly have 5.1 or 7.1 sound cards, on board.

There's an alternative to using a second sound card and that is to use USB powered headphones such as from Logitech products. On your setup, instead of 2 sound cards, select the advanced config, un-check the mono separated box if checked and assign deck 1 to primary sound, deck 2 to primary and headphone to usb headset. One thing, make sure on your laptop right-click on volume control and make sure your laptop audio is set as primary device instead of the USB headset as sometimes the USB headset switches default from primary sound card to headset on the PC. This works on Windows, not sure on Mac though..

I know this was a long time ago but was wondering if you could recommend a sound card for this? Whether the same one or an up to date one? I bought one with the headphone input direct into the card and just doesn’t work. Any help would be well appreciated man!

Is there a way of making it (on the basic free version of Virtual DJ) so that the crossfade is working on the speaker output rather than the headphones? because right now it's fading in the headphones, but then the only way of swapping out the speakers is via the PFL switches, which can be a bit sudden in my hands. This is with headphones plugged into USB soundcard, doesn't come out of speakers if headphones in computer's jack

hey there..... actually i tried exactly what you did, and there is still some thing wrong, like the sounds are almost vise verses, and as for my second question, what about the split cable, is it suppose to work correctly??? aaaand does it have types ??? and yeah btw i tried to configure manually.... and thx.

If speakers have a speaker with built in amp can they still break if you raise the gain more?

I contacted American audio about my VMS2 and they walked me through the process. My headphones are working like they're supposed to. No sound cards, no modifications in the settings. Tech support was awesome. americanaudio.us or call them at 1.323.582.3322 I'm good to go.
