Dr. Masha, I love your knowledge and videos! I have just 13 more days in Costa Rica and just discovered hyperbaric oxygen therapy here. I have inactive lupus (SLE), active hypothyroid and dry, aging skin. I would like to get as many HOT sessions as possible before i leave. How do you recommend I space the sessions apart? Might my body experience negative reactions if I go from an intensive protocol to a sudden & complete halt (without a gradual transition)? I am eager to hear from you as I am going for my first session today!❤
Hi Laurie. I cannot give a medical advice over the internet the number of sessions, pressure and other variables should be determined by your hyperbaric practitioner. One thing to keep in mind - if you are doing multiple sessions a day they should be spaced at least 6 hrs apart. In the video description you can find a link to book a free 15 minute HBOT session with me, where I can answer your question in more detail. Good luck with your treatment!
Excellent information! Do you have medical studies pertaining to air breaks and how those compare to studies without these intervalls? I am also into medicine studies and would love to see how important these air breaks are. And another really important question: How can air breaks be introduced in hard chambers? It is more difficult to shut it down and get it running again as it takes more time. Very interested in hearing your thoughts and suggestions.
Hi Cindy. Those are great questions. Airbrakes are needed, cause they create fluctuations in oxygen levels. When air brake is taken, this is sensed as hypoxic state. Hypoxia is one of the most potent mechanisms that initiates changes in gene expression, stem cell proliferation and differentiation, as well as angiogenesis and metabolic changes. It's called hyperopic-hypoxic paradox. In a hard-shelled chamber air brakes are possible when oxygen is delivered via the mask or the hood. Hope this helps.
@@hyperbaric Thank you so much for the response! Can air brakes also be used in medical hard chambers via masks? These go up to 2.4 ATA in the Functional Medicine clinic. Is that technically possible?
