Hey my lovelies, In this video I will be testing Jesmonite Retarder in collaboration with Polysil UK. You will find all of your Jesmonite needs on their website:
www.polysil.co.uk/
Retarder is designed to give you more work time with your Jesmonite. Without it, you have around 4 or 5 minutes to mix ... then around 5 mins before it starts to set. I have been advised to use Jesmonite retarder for a while but now I have the opportunity to test it out.

Great video, great product. So glad we have the option to slow down the hardening time so we can get more space and opportunity to be creative with colours. Especial with larger deeper set molds like pyramids etc. Exciting. I am very new to Jesmonite, and was contemplating working with a little cement, as well as resin. Now I am really keen to find out about this eco friendly, bio-degradable, easy to use, natural looking casting material through direct experience and person play. It is bringing out the inner child in me, and the creative adult I didn’t really know within me? So good to discover Polysil in the UK. And Claire, your energy is so vibrant and infectious too. Thank you for the lovely education. 🔮✨💫

Hello! Thanks for the video! Is the dose to add or if you want it to harden sooner can you put less as you like? Maybe you say it but not understanding the spoken English well it may have escaped me. Sorry for the errors in the comment if there are ... I translated with Google 😃

Hi Marcella. You only use Retarder if you want your Jesmonite to stay runny for longer. I rarely use it. Retarder is good if you are making LOTS of items at once.
@traceysmartart
@traceysmartart Месяц назад
Hi. I've just started using jesmonite (I do epoxy resin too). I found mine setting too still in the bowl if I make too much. I've ordered the retarder today, so hopefully, it will help. Did you find there were less bubbles too using the retarder with it been thinner?
@louxnna
@louxnna 2 года назад
Do you have any tips on removing air bubbles at the bottom? (So that would be top after pouting) I noticed you said ‘blow’ do you mean with a hair dryer? Would spraying some rubbing alcohol also help?
@ClairesCraftyCorner

Heyyyy Anna ... vibration is the best way. Alcohol no ... The trick is to tap and shake the life out of the mould when you pour. People have suggested a vibration plate i have not yet invested in one but hopefully soon x

I use a cheap electric hand sander, the one with the pointy nose. Remove the sandpaper and just use it either around the mold, or the table/surface it's sitting on. Works quite well! ;)

@ClairesCraftyCorner

Heyyyyy girl ... oh no 😢 ong 40 customs? 😱😱😱 what resin you been using? I think most resins will yellow after 5 years or so ... lots of colour is key. I use Vista Resin and Glass Cast x love both 😍😍😍
@kevinmclennan
@kevinmclennan 3 года назад
Hey there! They told me at my craft shop that resin has to be "UV Treated" in order for it not to go yellow, the only issue is that it's normally more expensive :)

Omg, looovvee your Videos.. I am watching all your jesmonite videos, before I am gonna try it myself for the first time..😱 So many questions.. do I really need a Retarder at all and if so, does it need to dry longer than 30 min?

every commercially available epoxy is actually food-safe and therefore harmless in case of short-term contact. Only when resin is fully cured is it non-toxic or food safe. In the liquid state, epoxy resin and also the vapors produced are ALWAYS toxic! so, unless you have a prof set up and can guarantee a FULL cure which can take months resin dependent its really not worth the risk. if you still go ahead with it and are also a seller make sure you have good insurance
