Thank you for your videos, Shannon, they are very interesting and informative and always a thumbs up. I've watched all the videos related to use of tools and to cabonetry (actually, it is what i do for living for the last 9 years) to learn something new for myself from your experience, another aim is to improve my English, i'm russian.

It would be nice if we knew what "this one" is called. Also, how do you raise the beam to the height you need on the wall? Do you just keep adding telephone books to the stack? It would be really nice if there was a demonstration of something actually being mounted to the wall using these lasers.
@kdecoste1

It doesn't matter where the beam is. It's level and you use a measuring tape from the beam to the desired height.

@HouseImprovements

You need one that will shoot at least a vertical line. This line will shine across the ceiling to help you out. In my example the red and black one does that . Here is a link in my Amazon affiliate account to laser levels.amzn.to/3nxH1yW

I imagine most laser levels would be good for small home projects or moderately sized backyards but for road building, farming , ...etc They probably will be not sensitive enough not sure like to know the capabilities of which ones do what. I do like the tip on using them when installing electrical wiring thru studs that got me think you could uses it also for installing pipes thru studs or any other thing. Very good and important video in build engineering

This is informative about levelling grounds. How about when you make 1% slope? Does any laser levels machines do that?
@Realism91
@Realism91 4 года назад
Take the distance you want to slope in inches and divide it by 100. If you have a calculated industries calculator, now available cheaper as an app you can put any type of measurement in that it'll accept and divide it by 100... Then just measure how much you've calculated to go off level and put a mark on both sides, then lock the level and pivot it to both your marks.

Shannon another great video! An Intro to laser levels. I have one. An expensive one. I have never use it, simply because I don't know how to. If I have to drill a number of holes along a laser line, it seems that I need to be very careful because I cast my own shadow on the laser line and then I can't see squat. Would you be able to make a video that shows how to work with lasers, for instance laying tiles on the vertical wall. Thanks for sharing again and thanks in advance for the future videos.

Nice description, didn't realize they functioned with and without the tripods and the major deals between self leveling vs just adjusting the knobs to level the laser. This cleared that up. As well as the distinction of using a laser level for inside vs outside where you cannot see the laser beam and need a receiver/surveyors stick. So the only thing i am wondering is how precise can one get laser levels in. I imagine surveyors need much more precision if there doing large leveling of land vs somebody doing just fences / backyard applications. Curious if you know the precision ratings for each application if one was going to use a laser level he need to know which ratings work well for which leveling applications.
@HouseImprovements
@HouseImprovements 5 лет назад
These lasers will all have an accuracy rating on them. for general indoors and outdoors residential use +/ - 1/4" in 100 feet is pretty good. The main thing is at a distance the laser line that you see gets wider so marking in the centre of that line is the most accurate way every time you use one.
@natefidalgo7625
@natefidalgo7625 5 лет назад
@@HouseImprovements O so the failure with different precision laser levels is beam width ok so that means if you went to far out the receiver pole would beep if you raised it up or down giving level positions in multiple points in the Z- axis plane. Also 100ft laser that seems like it cover yards that are 0.23 acres big which seems like still pretty small range interms of acres. What happens if you had to level 100 acres or even a football field which is close to 1.32 acres which levels would you uses?
@HouseImprovements
@HouseImprovements 5 лет назад
@@natefidalgo7625 Purchase the most accurate laser you can for the budget you have.
@natefidalgo7625
@natefidalgo7625 5 лет назад
@@HouseImprovements stupid question if one buys a laser level on a tripod do they usually come with the receiver sticks? Because without it your limited to only laser lines for indoor application that you can see on walls.
@natefidalgo7625
@natefidalgo7625 5 лет назад
Also is there surveying device to measure angles very precise like if you where building bridges or large building structures and even construction line gets cumbersome to uses. Is this built into laser levels to or just length , leveling ,...etc. I am wondering about measuring angles to the highest degree accuracy now that i know how to get things level.
