I thought 3.3 volts was the low limit for lipos . My goggles used a new 4s lipo today and completely dead . But after 4 hours sitting with no charger it raised from nothing to 3 .2 volts per cell . I charged it and it is still 4.2 volts per cell 99% 😊 . Thank you for showing me the dead battety alarm i can use it on my goggles and transmitter .

@@robojax I use flooded RV batteries. Most inverters sounds their alarm when those batteries get below 11volts which could damage the battery. According to what I've found on Google that RV batteries need to be discharged to 12.25 volts before charging. Are there alarms that can be programmed for flooded or gel batteries?

Testing the one I just got, I found that if the ground connector is removed with all the other connections present, the unit will turn off and not draw the 8 to 11mA that it does when it's on and displaying the readings. I figure on putting a momentary switch on the ground lead to turn it on and get the readings of the pack without having to plug and unplug the whole connector each time. The draw on each of the cells is about 80 to 100uA through the sense lines, so for the long term I'll still disconnect it completely just to avoid that bit of parasitic drain. The weird thing about the design is that most of the 10mA operating drain will be drawn from the first two cells, with the all other cells showing a negligible draw. Connection of just one cell in a 1S configuration will read the voltage correctly, but with a dimmed display and a low beep annunciator, because it relies on the second cell connection for most of the power.

If you want to save money and trouble, make your li-pos last the longer it can, NEVER charge above 4.23v/S and discharges until gets to 3.4v, do not charge to store it, 3.4v/S thats the correctly storage voltage, now, about the current, you need to search about your battery charge rate, and if is real or fake, the old batteries from 10 years ago was rated 1C but was really 0,7C usually, and maybe still some cheap ones around today that do the same IDK. Off-course, always balance.

I recommend plugging Lipo in to smart charger with digital read out to see what each cell voltage is then using theses to see which is close to charger.

Do these things have any provisions for calibration? The one I tested seems accurate to the last displayed digit, so it doesn't need any further calibration, but it would be nice if it's possible.

@dubmob151 really not that long, maybe 5 secs, I don't recommend you to do it as it becomes a paperweight without knowing what the reference voltage is lol, I can't get to the microcontroller or eeprom (if present), I have the one with the plastic case and it's under the display, too much work to desolder it

I have to questions. So on the smaller red battery buzzer do you have to unplug it to turn off the alarm, or can you just press the button? And also, if I don't want my battery voltage to go below 3 volts would 3.3 volts be a good setting for the buzzer, or should I go lower?

1- Yes you have to unplug or change the value to stop the alarm. 2- Lipo battery will be damaged if you 2.7 (or ± 200mV). so it is up to you at what level you wan the alarm to trigger.

The general consensious is not to let the individual cells go below 3 volts DC but some set the alarm to 3.2 volts, 3.5 volts or 3.7 volts just to be safe. @@robojax

If the voltage droops under load it may be necessary to set it lower to keep it from beeping under normal operation.

you can get it from manufacturer or there are lots of website listing that. for lip batteries, it is between 3.4 to 36V but manufacturer would tell you exact value.

Set you low voltage, say 3.5... press button and hold until it beeps... Now your low voltage is always set on 3.5...

@@jimharrow8104 Nope, every time this device is disconnected, you have to reset the voltage because it does NOT have a set voltage memory chip in it. It still serves it's purpose so you don't destroy your battery though👍

most lithium chargers are balanced charger. So if you charge it, it will bring the other cells higher to make them equal.

Yes that is exactly is is made for. If one cell is low it gives warning so does not matter if one or 4 of them goes low.

The unit needs at least 3.6v to work, so it's totally useless for warnings below about 3.7v! It also reports 3.8v when it's 3.6v (Verified on several multimeters and from bench PSU)

Wonder if they can be internally adjusted. Pretty much useless if the accuracy is off, unless you can mentally adjust for the error for each channel on the fly.

@@Ziplock9000 it really needs a minimum of two cells to work, because the main power for the unit is drawn from the 2s input line. Using it for 1s results in a dim display with variable results.

I've got a new 7.4v 500mah 2cell battery. After a full charge it reads: All: 08.2 C1: 4.16 C2: 4.07 is this bad?? I only got the USB cable-charger that came with my 1/16 Absima. (after driving for 2 minutes the battery reads: C1:3.8 C2:3.79 so the there is less difference then. After the car goes into lowpower mode, the battery reads: C1: 3.6 C2: 3.35.

I am sorry for late reply. I was on vacation. I believe that is okay for your application. 4.16V and 4.07 is 90mV. Your car is connected directly to - and last cell. so it will read the total.

if the battery alarm has triggered at the lowest voltage set on your meter ie 3.7 volts per cell after use. recharge the battery for 15mins and set a timer then stop charging at 15 mins. that should be sufficient for safe storage.

It depends on the voltage of each sell. You would have to check the manufacturer datasheet. It could be from 3.4 to 3.7V

Hello nice video. Question I have a 6s battery. I plug it into the lipo alarm from left to right but it says it’s a 7s battery? Any ideas why it would do that? It’s supposed to be a 6s battery.

It is very hard to measure it. it depends on how many digits and which digit is displayed. for example digit 1 will consume very little while digit 8 consumes the most.

I have some coming in and haven't tried it yet, but I'm looking to have it turned on only momentarily to act as a battery check, but don't want to plug and unplug it each time. I'm going to try disconnecting the ground lead and see if that turns off the unit, and won't drain with the battery from the rest of the connections. If it works I'll just have a momentary pushbutton to make the ground connection. It doesn't seem like anyone's ever tried it in all the videos I've seen on this gizmo, so it remains an unknown-

Number of cells doesn't' matter. Each cell voltage matter to be on average 3.7V and you can set you lower limit for example 3.5V and this will check each cells and if any of them go below 3.5v value, alarm will trigger.

The only thing to set is the battery voltage you want the alarm to sound. For a single Lipo battery you would not want to set the alarm lower than 3 volts.

The alarm set value range: 2.7~3.8V . Setting the alarm per cell I don't let my lipo battery voltage go below 3VDC because any lower might permanently damage the battery .

Имеет субтитры на русском языке. Видео на английском языке, и поскольку вы выбрали русский язык, он отображает русский. Просто выберите английский язык на своей странице RU-vid или в приложении, он будет отображаться на английском языке. Я добавил субтитры на 50 языках, чтобы люди получали от этого пользу. Спасибо.
