Haha nice! Glad i could help. Also i grew up playing games so i would hope i know what's good. Right now starcraft2 is still my favorite. Been playing since it came out in 2010! If you subscribed that would help me a lot 😀. Trying to hit 1k.
What do you mean by this? It sounds like you're saying your video instructions were not clear and it messed up your system but I don't think that's what you meant. Can you clarify please? Thank you 🙏
thank you for this tutorial, set myself up expecting to wait a few hours for the test to return some errors, ended up with 10000 errors and the test being aborted within 2 minutes so that's a big suggestion that I need to go shop for some new RAM tomorrow
@@TritonTv69420 unfortunately I never bought the RAM straight from The company and their warranty rules state that you gotta buy directly from them to secure lifetime warranty 😥
great video, helped me find out that 2 of my ram slots were faulty. took me a couple hours but tested both of my rams, a 32Gb kit, and both are fine, slot A1 and A2 seem to be faulty. great explanation
Hey thanks for watching! Glad it could help. Crazy thing is this video has more views than the official one from benchmark software haha. Please consider subscribing! So close to 1k. Cya around 😎
i wont see replies of replies.. you have to make a new comment to make a notification. the memory address will indicate which stick is faulty. if it's say 8gb sticks. if the addresss is above 8gb you know its the second or third or fourth
@@TritonTv69420 really helped bro I just bought to sticks for a kit which was 64 and I got 2 out of it which is 32 2x16 corsair vengeance rgb pro and I was checking if there is anything wrong with them I let the test run all the 4 passes and it took around 6 and half hours but really like I said you made everything clear and easy and made me sure about the ram so thank you
nice vid! i did this because i was getting a lot of memory_management BSOD's and after formating my pc 2 times i tried this, my test failed because of too many errors (it failed when it was in about 10000 errors) now i just need the money to get a new pair of rams
@@TritonTv69420 no, i have AMD, now i tried each single stick and only one of them isn't working, is there any problem if i buy a new one but as a single stick? with the same speed, capacity and model.
I would just buy two new sticks. Different batches are binned differently. They match pairs that perform the same and they clock them the same. There is a whole process they use. Its the best way to ensure long term stability.
@@TritonTv69420 Hi, piggybacking off of this comment. I recently ran memtest and got 1695 errors. The system was running fine for like 2 years, then a few months ago I enabled xmp and clocked my ram to 3200 (the max it was rated for, 16gb corsair lpx, across 2 slots). I recently started noticing issues with some random freezes, esp after waking up from sleep (I run a hackintosh. Things seem to work fine in my dual boot Windows though). Do you think enabling xmp is what started to messs with the ram?
Needed this. My PC randomly stopped working. It just didnt boot at all, and didnt even let me enter the BiOS. After messing around I find out some of my RAM sticks were causing the problem with some of them plugged the PC didnt post but When I removed 2 sticks It started working again. This is going to help me to really prove if my RAM sticks suddenly died or are Faulty or if it is something else causing the issue. Thankyou
The moment I ran Memtest for the first time I had a blue screen by the way I didn't get blue screens before I was trying to find out why I get checksum errors on all large archiveed files
Aren't you supposed to select one of your RAM sticks by clicking in that list so you know if there's errors, which stick has the errors? Then how do you know WHICH stick in your actual PC case is the stick you are testing? I'm going to try this because after installing 64GB (4 sticks) and a 4070 TI graphics card, I'm not getting random BSOD events. Thanks for this vid. Nice to see the steps.
Hello thanks for watching. Bsod are so random sometimes. It could be an overclock. Could be the power supply. Could be a faulty gpu driver. Testing ram is a great idea. Do you have xmp (if intel cpu) enabled for the ram (or the amd equivalent)? My understanding is the memory address would tell you which stick it is. You can always boot with 2 sticks then test twice to get all. Then do one at a time to narrow it down for sure. Their website (in description) has more info on different scenarios. Hope this helps. I was able to RMA a stick that i didn't get around to using for almost a year and get a replacement set. I would also do all updates on hardware and commonly used software. So gpu drivers and windows updates to start. Some newer samsung ssd's have bad firmware from the factory too!
@@TritonTv69420 I have ASUS Prime X299 Deluxe II motherboard and I7 or I9 Intel CPU (I forget...) and I just wanted to upgrade the graphics card from the 1800s to something modern so I got one that is pretty new but not the $1600 one. Bout half of that and I had to carve out a spot in the case for it to fit across. So, I decided why not up the RAM too. That motherboard can do up to 128 Gig of RAM so I have 64 G. I took that thing apart SOOOO many times trying to get the memory INSTALLED in the right slots. You have to put them into the right config based on how many sticks you have. So.... breaking that PC down and doing 4 mem tests... man, that would be a royal pain to unplug all the cords and haul it to the bedroom, remove 3 sticks, reassemble, run memtest... film the result page with camera each time. But that would definitely eliminate any change of not knowing which stick is bad if errors show. But this whole dual-stick may be in error but single may not.... that's beyond my ability to understand. If there is a bad circuit in a RAM stick (even one of the bits), wouldn't an error display in memtest? oh well... it's a bit beyond my knowledge but if memtest gives ALL errors such that it lists some memory range they are in, then maybe you can calculate which stick but then that's too much for my brain. I know hexadecimal but still... This RAM is from Kingston so that's a good brand but there is SOMETHING different now. RAM or my graphics card because those are the only things I did different. OH, I DID overclock the BIOS stuff for a while (like a week) but I set it back to normal so I am getting BSOD without overclocking anything and I have XMD set to ON. Thanks for your fast reply!!! My BSOD seems to happen when I'm moving my graphics pen upward at a fast speed toward the X where you close windows. Happened last with FireFox browser open and I was moving upward then POOF.... BSODoom.
Interesting. I would definitely start with testing the sticks. Make sure they are seated all the way and the lock is on (never touch anything inside unless power has been fully off for mins). Update all the other stuff. Check out my video where i overclocked my i7 7700k to 5.0Ghz. It shows some of this stuff and how i documented the changes. That motherboard should be top of the line. I would for sure test in the 4 stick configuration and go from there. You should be able to remove dimm slot 1 and 3 after the 4 stick test and do a 2 stick test (only if errors on 4 stick test), the manual should say the preferred slots for 2 sticks its usually 2 and 4. Also the built in windows calculator has a programmer calculator in it. Should be easy to figure out the ram address of each stick using that. In the menu it shows what addresses are being tested so you can put that into the hex calculator and divide by 4. You can switch between decimal and hex, oct, binary do calculations then switch back. Also you should be able to remove ram sticks without touching anything else. Not sure if you have a glass panel or metal on the cpu side.
@@TritonTv69420 Yeah, I was careful not to touch anything nor the pins of the RAM sticks. It was hard getting them seated. I was afraid to push too hard and you have to push very hard so I was careful not to push at any angle and tried to seat them slowly at first and push on the right side and a few times I got the left side seated well but right was not. So.. not sure if that messed anything up but I finally got them all seated properly and my PC says 64GB showing up so... I hoped all was ok but I SHOULD HAVE installed the memory ONLY and see how that went for say a few days but I was eager to get it all in at once and be done since I'd opened the PC so many times before with 32 G ram sticks and found later those won't work so.... So removing a ram stick I have to unplug everything and take the case somewhere where I can see it and get to it better. hmmmm well, your idea of doing all 4 sticks in one test is one way. Let it run while I sleep tonight, wake up and see if ANY errors report. If so, then that might be the cause of BSOD at least. But does the BIOS settings affect the RAM test? I mean, I've got it set to XMD now so... does memtest BYPASS all that and test ram directly ...??? Should I turn XMD off b4 testing? argggggg. Computers... can't live with them... can't live without them! thx for the feedback and ideas. I wish I knew the best settings for my 4070 TI also. I'm starting to tinker witih Blender so... there's so many settings I think it's a miracle ANYTHING works.
Yes if you have xmp enabled it will test the ram at the xmp clock rate. This is good because this is what you want. You want to know if the system is stable at your clock rate. So it will test it at any cpu overclock as well as ram overclock. I would test it at that speed and if it fails try it on default settings. Then you can rule out if it was the clock rate or not. If you narrow down which stick/s it is hopefully they are new enough to RMA and get working sticks. You might be surprised to not have any errors but it's worth checking. My guess is with your cpu and that much ram it will take 4-6 hours to complete 4 full rounds of tests. I feel like sometimes even windows updates end up with memory leaks and weird kernel errors. Had one bsod like 6 months ago and never found out what it was. Could have just been a power spike. It's annoying trying to find out. Also for any type of gpu intensive program like video editing or CAM software or visual effects software you will most likely have better results on the studio edition of the drivers so I would switch to that for sure. Studio drivers run games fine in my experience. O yea it's insane how hard you have to push to get ram in... haha
Great video! When you exit memtest86, do you auto boot into bios so that you can choose the correct boot device? Just afraid to be trapped in the "No bootable drive" matrix
When you exit memtest it will use the highest priority boot drive. So it should boot up like normal. Some bios may be a bit different but the asus rog one lets you hit enter to select a temporary boot device. This leaves the boot priority list alone. Thanks for watching. 🤓
Honestly its probably the mic picking up the cpu fan. I notice it when editing. This is an omni directional mic. I need to get a more directional one or a remote mic. Surprised you are the first person to mention it. edit* After skimming through the video you might be talking about the buzzing during the reformatting? This was recorded on a cheap 20$ headset for audio on computer. It has terrible audio quality.
Hello. Is this usb already viewable in windows? Re-reading what you wrote perhaps you never unzipped the folder? Most files nowadays are zipped (compressed) when you download them to save space. Perhaps see if your folder is still zipped. Make sure to unzip it first then follow the tutorial. Hope this helps. it's such a small file starting from a new download isn't too bad. Download memtest 86. Unzip the folder. (right click on it and click unzip, if you don't have that option download 7zip or similar zip/unzipping program www.7-zip.org/download.html ) Then it should all make sense. Subscribe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smash like button or your usb will only work for 69 more days. :)
I see you are a man of culture. Haha. I mostly play sc2 regularly but when i was younger i remember getting age of mythology on a cd rom as a gift. Worms is always fun too.
Hello Triton, thank you for your great video. Can Memtest or other ram tests like windows ram test or Hp Uefi test cause damage to the ram if you test it often? Ive tested my ram 7 or 8 times over 6 months. I havent overclocked it and it is at 1.2v with 3200mhz.
I doubt this would damage your ram. A stable system, which is part of what this is testing, should be able to run at the limit everyday all day. Check out my video on overclocking my i7 7700k if this stuff interests you. 🤓
You might have the legacy boot option turned off in BIOS. Its usually in the same area as uefi and boot settings. Look for an option that says enable or disable legacy boot. Boot into bios (usually spam the f2 button sometimes f12 on bootup) then turn on/enable legacy boot. As memtest isn't an OS this setting might not allow it to boot into the software. Hope this helps
Heyy!! Awesome video man but quick and random question for anyone to reply Having a buddy with constant blue screens and other things ive through rigorous testing concluded the ssd or hdd isnt a problem Having him take a memtest86 through usb he failed with 10k errors both 16 sticks in took roughly 3 hours Currently running it again with a single stick Here's where im confused We just ordered and bought all new parts parts include : new ddr - 3600 ram new b series 690 pro board -a new 12th gen cpu i5 a new gpu amd The only thing not replaced was psu ssd hdd Trying a run with only the ssd installed fresh os = blue screen after 15 mins in windows Same test with hdd? Blue screen 15 minutes in windows Okay...so what are your thoughts? Im now sort of leaning toward ram or memory module though i was thinking psu before seeing the memtest fail Running out of ideas any tips or help would be appreciated!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼 this problem has persisted for roughly 2 weeks after this poor man spend 1500 cad on his new system 😭
Sorry to hear. One thing that happened to a friend of mine. I replaced his hdd with an ssd. I dont remember the brand of laptop. To me it looked like the grounding pads where inverse of what they should be to take the shock to the case. I think a lot of laptops are finicky about electrical stuff. You are doing the right thing by checking one ram at a time. If you can it might be worth checking to see if the cpu has properly applied thermal paste. Thermal issues and electrical can be tricky to pin point if they are intermitant. I would check to make sure there are no loose screws, all connections are tight, all ground locations are properly secured. Failing memtest usually means hardware issues. Hope this helps a little. Just hit 1k subs last night! Thanks for watching. Hope you figure it out. Pc stores might let you swap to a random set or ram and run your test in the store...
@TritonTv69420 Highly appreciate the response boss man! 👍 congratulations on 1k subs man you've got a new one! Issue is cpu I'd say is ruled out beforehand when the system was working and not blue screening every 15 minutes I had him run some heaven benchmarks for gpu and cinebench r23 for cpu Temps All of which were low Temps with decent wattage! 0 issues there! I actually walked him through the thermal paste and cpu cooler install on call so I can verify he's got enough for cooling+ hw monitor and cinebench told us 60-64c was roughly his max Not sure where else to go having him grab a new ssd+psu since those are the only two other old components not new and replaced If that doesn't work I guess we will be grabbing new ram sticks! Rough man! 😭 it's just hard to see his brand new ram coming in broken. Hope the best to ya boss man 👍👌🏼
You can RMA new devices. I think most have a manufacturers warranty of 1 year. I would either go to the retail store he bought it from or go online and initiated the RMA process. I had to do this with some corsair ram straight out of the box. Sometimes new hardware has issues. These companies know this. You should be able to do this for free or just shipping.
So I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but every time I write it onto the USB it says I need to format the USB. When I select to format, it erases the Memtest from the USB and I have time write it onto it all over again, and then it asks me to format it again. What am I doing wrong here?
hmmm. Follow the writing directions carefully. I would keep the imaging program on a different drive. If your usb is drive k lets say, put the imaging file on a different drive. When it images it it does format and rewrite it. If it keeps giving you that error at least try to boot into bios and run the test. When is it giving you this error? right off the bat when you are still inside the imaging program? Or after when you try to click on the drive? Don't worry about being able to use the drive for anything else other than memtest after you image it. You will reclaim the space by formatting it later on in video. Hope this helps.
@TritonTv69420 It's all good, I was looking at the wrong USB option in the side bar of files explorer. Your instructions were grand and clear, ran the tests, and my RAM has a clean bill of health.
Running it rn, just built a brand new new pc, it’s only using 16 GB out of 32GB ram, tried a couple fixes, and then found this video. However windows does detect all 32 gb it caps out at 15 point something.
Hey! Hope the video at least helps with running memtest. Good luck on the new build. My advice would be run it as is let it do at least 3 passes of all tests. If its not using all ram do a complete power down wait 5 mins and short out the power button (press power with the back shutoff to drain the last bit of electricity) then swap out two sticks (double check they are seated first if you hear it pop test again as is.). I have had bad ram from the store. If the second two sticks work you can rule out the ram as two stick setups. Could be the duel channel part of the motherboard. Always make sure each stick is fully seated to where the locking tab pops. All manufacturers have defect warranties. If its two of your sticks or even one then you can RMA the set and get a new one. Use other ram in the meantime. This video:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JKvKdLyWMsw.html can show you how to run prime95 to see if your system really is not using all ram
Awesome ty! I made sure the ram was properly seated before running this. Funnily enough, the second ram stick wasn’t properly seated, it lit up and everything but the little clip wasn’t all the way down 🤦♂️, so far so good on the memtest, on the 3rd run through rn, no errors 😊 Before I even ran this I reseated the second stick and tried to see what would happen when running a game, but same result, even before it was properly seated it was still being detected. And Tysm for that second link, that’s exactly what I was looking for 😊
First time i tested it with both ram got like 7k errors and again tested with 1 ram stick then got 115 errors ......idk if its my ram or cpu , cause it says cpu 0 expected and actual value ....kinda confused would love any kind of help
Hello. I would start with reading the documentation on the benchmark software website. When it says "expected" and "actual value", my understanding is those are the transferred values after each test. So if it is getting a different value it does mean it is failing the test. Wheather that is RAM or cpu or power supply ect, is the hard thing to figure out. The tricky thing is it could be so many things. Perhaps the cheapest thing to try is get another set of ram that is the same type (ddr4, ddr3, ddr5). If your system is fairly new, you should contact the RAM manufacturer and see if you can RMA. Its always worth removing both sticks of RAM and double checking all plug-ins. Blow things off with air and make sure everything is seated properly. Make sure BOTH tabs on each side of each RAM stick are seated. This is a common issue. Hope this helps. Also try to turn off xmp or the amd equivalent (overclocked ram setting). When testing you want to eliminate variables. So perhaps its not getting enough juice at the higher clock rates. Then you can tweak the voltage and perhaps get it working. Only do that kind of stuff after looking up guides for your motherboard bios though. Check out my "how i got my i7-7700k overclocked at 5ghz" video. There is some other info on testing with a different software called prime 95. Links for that stuff in description of that video.
It would be indicated by the memory address. Yes if you then do one or 2 at a time you can eliminate it after. I actually had 1 bad ram that i got from best buy. They did RMA for free and i got a new one. It didnt boot with 1 certain stick. Their website has a lot of info on it. Each stick will be allocated a certain memory address range. You can eliminate it that way too. Thanks for watching!
Good luck. Hopefully you find it. Make sure to get the exact same type of ram. Different ram clock speeds and types are known to cause system issues. Also know which two ram slots are preferred for duel channel setup. Its usually DIMM slot 2 and 4. Check motherboard manual. Then if you do only 1 its usually slot 2 preferred. Usually... contact who you bought the ram from and usually warrenties are good for a year. XMP should be covered too.
@@TritonTv69420 They all passed! I'm somehow happy and somehow dont because now I don't know where my BSOD with stopcode: CACHE_MANAGER is coming from. I have a 550w bitfenix formula 80 plus gold PSU. Maybe its too less wattage? My pc is just 3 years old now. Specs: R5 2600x, gigabyte 1660ti oc, 32GBRAM (had 16GB before), 1TB INTEL 660P, MX200 2TB SDD. 3 Monitors (1 modern, AOD g24vq6, 2 old samsung syncmaster710v and a dell 1909w). Or it can even be virusses although various virus scanner, including defender, malwarebytes and advanced systemcare has found nothing. Only fixed some registers which has made the bsod appear way less though. Also removed non necessary third party drivers like my boom 3d audio driver. Also removed pc remote receivers just in case. I just dont know what to do now, I also ran CHKDSK, sfx/ scannow, those commom cmds, etc already 💀 Maybe I'll just wait till the next BSOD and see how much time was between the last BSOD. Before it was everyday, now it's every two days or so. I also reset the CMOS battery for bios reset.
Interesting. I had a random BSOD the other day. I am not sure what it was because it is very rare on my system from July of 2017. Might be some crappy windows updates. Who knows. Sounds like you are trying to figure everything out pretty well. Double check connections on MOBO (ram, power connectors, drives) and power supply. Could have just been a power thing in the building you live in.
Ok so looks like two issues. Sorry for delayed response. 1) if i were you i would shutdown your pc and turn the power supply completely off. Unplug if you want to be extra cautious. Let it sit for 2 mins or longer. Press power button to short out remaining electricity. Then and only when you are sure the entire system has no residual charge, disconnect ram and re seat them one at a time. Make sure you click the latches on BOTH sides of the ram. Do this for all sticks. Consult your motherboard manual to make sure you are in the correct slots for how many sticks you have. Then power back up and double check that you can see all ram. If windows isn't seeing it still i would contact the manufacturer and see if you can RMA. 2) re watch how the device is formatted. Make sure you follow the instructions. If needbe reformat the device. If i were you i would unplug all other usb storage devices to make it easy to select. When you select which device to boot into make sure you are pressing the right button. My BIOS is enter some others may be a different key. Hope this helps. PC troubleshooting is all about going back to square one. Start with connections. Make sure things are where they should be. Then make sure you are selecting things properly. I have read of similar issues and it was not seated properly. Connected just enough for BIOS to see it but not for windows to use it.
I know this video is old but when testing Ram hardware you need each ram tested not all of them at once. Once it detect error how would you know which ram is bad ?
Hello good question. You could figure it out based off the ram addresses that it states are failing. But the way you mention is the way to easily determine which one it is. However, i have read that sometimes sticks only fail when in duel channel mode like if one dimm slot was messed up. Then when you swap it to the single channel slot it might pass.
@@TritonTv69420 ended up just reformatting the usb and then imaging it again and then it worked. Must have failed the imaging the first time even though it said imaging was successful

The image.exe is gone after I booted back up. How do I re-format it now? I clicked the format button in windows and it won't let me format it larger. It also seperated into drive D and drive E
I'm going to assume that you saved your files on the drive? Go to the website and re download the files. Watch carefully how i reformat the drive make sure the files for formatting the drive are located on a different drive.
Well if the slot isn't working the ram will be giving an error. The tricky thing is sometimes ram work on their own but not all together. So if it passes then you know the slot and the ram work
Hello! Most computers use the f2 button, delete button, or sometimes i think f10... Basically just mash the f2 button as soon as you start up the pc from shutdown. It will usually say what the button is on the very first screen. they usually only last about 5 seconds so just pay attention. Try f2 I bet that's it!
@@TritonTv69420thanks, but it ended up not working. When I boot it it was just a black screen for a few mins. Googled it and it seems like it could be because my bios/uefi are from 2019. Can’t be bothered updating it, so I’m sending my PC in for a checkup. I was initially trying to use it to figure out which part of my pc was malfunctioning
My man is there anyway to automate this test have you got any idea? Like a script to run down all the tests and generate log files in a certain location
I'm sure someone smarter than me can write a python script to do this. However... programs like these run in lui of an operating system. You boot in to the program. There is no OS in the way hogging resources. Its just pure hardware and a very small efficient program to run on said hardware. Its really really easy. I have faith in you. Follow steps and feel free to ask questions. Be very careful when entering BIOS to not change settings you do not know about. Booting to a usb is pretty safe. I am not sure if the software will run in windows, mac os, or linux. I am willing to bet there are other things out there. The tests want to use as much as possible of all the rams memory locations. From what I remember my version of windows 10 uses about 4GB of RAM. meaning the test would probably have to shift around windows memory in order to fully test the memory locations. I am pretty sure this is why it boots into the software without an OS. Feel free to ask questions here. I will check this comment for questions on the next few days. I do believe there is a way to save the logs from the memtest86 software. I will double check later this week. Cya around. Thanks for watching.
@@TritonTv69420 Wow thanks a lot for the info.! Very detailed explanation. Like you said scripting can be not that easy with absence of OS. For now I can stick to doing it manually. BTW just subbed and hope you get to 1K sub soon and monetize your vids!
It tests all the ram you have installed on your motherboard. If you get errors see the log file. If you cant determine which stick it is boot 1 at a time. Usually the second slot is the preferred slot if just 1. Then try two at a time. 2nd slot and 4th slot is usually preferred.
I have done all those steps but memtest is not opening help me.😭😭 I'm facing random bsod crashes so I want to check my ram but I have a brand new hard drive and freshly installed windows
Did you format the drive with memtest on it? Make sure to leave the drive in and go to BIOS. Most computers it's f2 on startup. In the boot menu (boot priority) hit enter or whatever button boots from the usb you installed memtest on. If you formatted it properly memtest will be the ONLY thing on the drive.
Probably. If you are overclocked you might be getting too hot. If its an intel cpu your xmp might have too high a voltage or maybe not enough. Their website has more info than i can give. I would try testing individual sticks to see which one it is. Hope you figure it out
What if I have 2 sticks of 8gb ram? I keep getting the issue that my pc keeps freezing every so often. I’ve noticed it when I’m not on my computer. Seems to work fine when I am on it
hello. hmmm are you getting a blue screen of death or it's just locking up? Did you run the test? the memory location will tell you which ram stick it is. If it is above 200000000 in hex (the test numbers are in hexidecimal i believe) you will know it's the second stick. if it's below that number its the first. Try each separate then both. Know which slot your motherboard wants if just one stick. it's usually the second one.

Does the expected match the actual? If will say if the tests pass or not. XMP (intel cpu) or DOCP (amd cpu) can cause issues. Sometimes voltages are too low to keep memory stable. That is a very loaded question. When is it doing this (high cpu and high gpu usage)? Just sitting at the desktop screen with nothing running? That might be an issue. Is this rendering a video on one screen playing cyberpunk in 8k on the other screen and watching TritonTv at the same time? Haha.
As far as xmp being the issue... my guess is its not setting the voltage high enough. But... if you are inexperienced in overclocking ram or your cpu i wouldn't mess with it. Sometimes older components don't work as well when new.
Just an FYI from another noob overclocker... I see you have an ASUS board. Most of them come with the option to run MemTest86 from the bios, no flash drive needed. Although, if this was just for educational purposes I get it!
❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗ 1 gb stick bespielt. Wird beim Booten nicht erkannt. Wieder mit fat formatiert und nun nur noch 248 MB groß. Woran liegt's? Bin froh, dass ich keinen größeren Stick genommen habe. Also AUFPASSEN...❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
Hallo! I will try my best. I translated what i could from your message. It looks like you are asking why it shows a smaller capacity from 1GB down to 248MB. Dont worry! When you reformat it you will get your space back!! Machen Sie sich keine Sorgen, dass Sie lhren Platz auf dem USB-Stick weidererlangen. (Hopfully that makes sense)
I was told to aorus f12 to get a boot menu. Is this just a different way of accessing the same thing? Also when you exit the usb memtest environment, how do you do it?
Hello good questions. So some computers use f2 some are f12. Some are delete.... just depends on the manufacturer. BIOS is BIOS. Its what your computer loads before the OS. When you exit memtest it should take you either back to the startup of your computer. So you can go back to BIOS or just let it boot. The boot priority list will dictate what it is going to do.
Thank you for replying. If you don't mind attempting to answer one last question. Do you think that this test is particularly hard on the CPU? I'm trying to go through a step by step process to sort out which hardware issue I am facing and using the results to give back to my PC manufacturer/parts manufacturer. I have a 13900kf and am concerned the CPU will be very hot for apparently up to 10 hours since I have 32gb of RAM.
This tests the ram not the cpu... its very easy for the cpu to run this test. All it is doing is passing info back and forth and other things. Its not really doing cpu calculations. It just does different types of ram info moving. That's my understanding. If i had to guess. Its like 2-5% cpu intensive. Its not a test for the cpu. If interested. I have a video on how i overclocked my i7 7700k to 5.0 Ghz. That explains more about what i learned over clocking the cpu. In that case you are testing both the CPU and the ram to the max. Memtest is designed to see if your ram retains values for a long period of time. Can pass values from blocks to blocks. As well as inverting and other types of memory manipulation. Read their about page on their website if you really want to know what it is doing. Very smart computer engineers over there. Its amazing its free. Hope this helps. My suggestion would be to download cpuid as well as prime 95. Check out my overclocking video in my computers playlist.
Damn, my ryzen 5600X reports 209GB/s L1 cache, 92.4GB/s L2 and 56.2GB/s L3... Though memory says 48GB/s so great edit: my cpu speed is stock at 3.7Ghz.. maybee that's why
Hahahaha not everyone is an expert on everything. What is your gripe? My video has been played more than the actual video from the company so it must be a decent video.
Bonjour!
Yes. It is litterally testing billions of memory addresses. So the more ram you have installed the longer it will take. A lot of people run it over night or while they are at work.
I believe so. It could be caused by a bunch of different things. Is your cpu over clocked? Is your ram over clocked? How old is your motherboard? How old is your power supply? Its a good idea to turn everything off unplug and let it sit for at least 90 seconds. Then uninstall and reinstall your ram. If system is over clocked try resetting to default values. Also what test did it fail? It says the hammerhead test (I believe test 13 is the most commonly failed test) Their website has trouble shooting advice. If multiple sticks are installed you might be able to figure out which one has issues.
Is this 1 stock of ram? 2? 3? 4? What test is failing? Memtest should tell you which test is failing and i believe there is a way to find out which ram it is based off ram address. I remember reading something saying slightly higher voltage on ram can help stabilize it. Sometimes an error can happen when voltages are top low.
:( try 1 stick at a time and if you had 4 try to isolate it to see if it is just one stick. Sometimes it's power settings especially if the system is overclocked. Sorry to hear.
With "view detailed ram spd" it only recognizes 1 of 4 bars, the other 3 bars are "unknown" but it still shows me 32gb of ram memory? do you know why? Edit: its all the same ram.I had a 16gb kit and have now bought another 16gb kit
O I had a similar situation... It still recognized the newer sticks but... The model slightly changed. They could be binned slightly different so the clock speeds must but slightly different. Sometimes it's worth scrapping what you have and buying a new entire set so all of them match and are binned the exact same.
Yea sometimes there are issues with the duel channel setup. So are you saying 1 at a time they are fine but 2x or 4x they error in memtest? This has happened to other people before. If you can't get it to pass i always suggest buying two or 4 sticks from the same batch. They are "binned" for performance. Most manufacturers have 1 year or longer warrenties. They will RMA the device and issue a replacement. If your sticks are new i would start there.
i have 2x ram stick yes they are new actually i bought a pc that is already built, in my case my problem is the bsod and the games are crashed, i have reinstalled windows 11 and drivers but the games are still crashed, so they told me to test my ram with memtest86, anyway I also opened the test at the command prompt "mdsched" and the result was "Your computer has a memory problem" thanks for the quick answer, where did I bought my pc it takes several days before they response😂
ah. Ok have you tried going back a gpu driver or two? someone else said they were having gpu problems the other day. If that doesn't work perhaps try sending the RAM back and see if new sticks help. I don't know much about ddr5 since I haven't built a pc with that yet. hope you figure it out!
