I was an early adopter of Sway. Most of them were travelogues to send to the kids (who lived in 4 different cities) when my wife & I traveled. It was a fun way to share the trip with them. I haven’t used it in quite a while. I like the “new” Sway. Looking forward to starting again. Thanks for the excellent tutorial.
Hey, Kevin. I would like to give suggestion. In your videos which shows how to make something, like in sway, using stock photos or so, which are more on the "creative products" side, I suggest actually showing the final product first. this way, the audience, more especially those who are still not yet familiar with the app environtment may imagine the purpose first, then the process later. I take this inspiration from LogosbyNick youtube channel. He usually shows a complete product first, then shows a step-by-step tutrorial from scratch. that way, the audience will build a more deductive mindset. This is a suggestion, so I hope it helps.
This is a huge help for me, I'm a Grade 11 student and our teacher gave us a Post-Task where we have to make an E-Portfolio using Microsoft Sway. But since I don't know how to use this, I searched RU-vid and I am happy that I did because I was able to learn how to use it from you thanks a Lot!! You just got a new subscriber hehe.
@@DiegoTheWolf I haven't used anything for long enough to explicitly recommend anything in particular but I tend to open and app and click through every single possible area to figure out what it does. Microsoft Teams is a gateway to all of the cool stuff I found.
Promoting an application with a 20 minute tutorial?! Do you realize that most humans have next to no attention span (see TikTok, etc)? The most you could hope for is a 2 minute advertisement with lots of explosions and Bwah sounds that explains Sway in a fun and cool way
@@lawjef This is no tik-tok, don't do that comparison cuz its pointless and this is no ad, this is a how to guide so only the people who wants to actually use it can watch
You neglected to mention a couple of features: 1. You can drag and drop a PowerPoint or pdf and it will import the content.. which you can even edit their inner content on the design tab. 2. You can export to pdf or word. The above is very handy for student portfolios, whereby they have already generated a ton of work on various media and need to collate their work.
I have used Sway for job applications. something like a turbo charged CV :) Besides looking fantastic on any device with very little effort from my side, the in-built Analytics is my favorite Info :) By copying a new version for each job I am applying for, I can see how often the respective Sway was opened and how thoroughly it was read. I am sick of sending my applications and then wait forever for a response, which very often does not even arrive. The Analytics info shows me at least whether my material is read or not. Big Thumbs Up for Sway :)
I have had office 365 for years and did not know about this app. I'm a real estate agent and can't wait to starting using this to create newsletters and more. Thanks
Thank you Kevin for this good introduction to Sway, it was useful to me. I am new to Sway but I like it very much. The one thing I miss with it is a way categorize my Sways, either with folders or some other ways to filter them by tags or folder would be nice.
Amazing! I never heard about Sway till watching your video. This is really awesome and quite helpful in being productive with lesser efforts. I loved the way you made me understand the nitty gritties of such a beautiful application. Thanks a lot for your efforts. Bye bye!
Thanks so much for this video. I am an a realtor and need to create a marketing presentation for futire clients. This is the perfect tool. Will play with it today.
Excellent.......I have been tooling around with Sway for months. You always add another level of learning to your videos. Can you do a vid on how to setup quizzes/polls in Powerpoint FORMS ? I can't seem to get it to download into the slide.
Great video. I never knew Sway existed either. What I don't understand is why, at the time of me watching this video, have 290 people downvoted it! It's great content, well produced, with excellent audio and video quality. Thankfully 13K upvotes well outweigh the haters!
Your videos are excellent. Clear, concise and understandable. I am subscribed to your channel and recommend that anyone looking for help with MS products watches your tutorials before any others. JWL - New York.
Your videos are always helpful. By the way, can you tell me what software or app you use to creat this videos like this? In your videos I see you zoom in and out and focus anywhere you want on the videos.
Well, the entire video is a demonstration of what the app does. However, if you mean explain the purpose and common use cases up-front before diving in, then I agree.
If anyone wants to understand what is UI vs UX, this tool is a great example. Great UI in terms of how it all is setup. Some good UX as well. But the eventual and final output is the finest example of how everything that you do in a product can come undone. I personally hate powerpoint as well. But If someone would force me to choose between Sway and Powerpoint, I would go for the latter. Kevin - If you are reading this, please work out an opportunity for me with Microsoft to work on making sense of these products.
Thank you for doing this video on Sway. I plan to make an introductory speech to a group on Zoom. This will also be a way for them to use this tool for LinkedIn and and their website. I think Microsoft should give you a raise. 😀 I am working on creating a website. What is the benefit of choosing Microsoft vs Google tools and resources? Will you do a video on this topic? Thanks
I'll take a raise :) You can use Sway as an easy way to create an interactive web page. The only downside is that you can't have any sub pages. All-in-all, you can create a beautiful web site with minimal effort and for free. On Microsoft vs. Google, my answer might be a little biased since I work at Microsoft! I'll add it as a topic to my list of videos to create. Cheers!
Wow! I had actually stumbled on Sway and loved it. However, had non idea it could do so much. As an online educator, I feel this can be very useful for remote teaching. Your thoughts?
Absolutely, Sway is heavily used in education, whether by teachers or students. With the storyline, it makes it easy for students to focus on pulling together content and formulating a good flow. With the designs, it also gives students ample opportunity to have some fun and show their creativity. For teachers, it's easy to present content or reading material in a visually rich way.
Kevin, ha ha - almost too well done for the rest of us. I truly hope we do not bury you in success with your new focus. Perhaps the sequel to this great session should be "Feng Sway?"
Thanks Kevin! I watched most of your videos and all are informative. First time learning about Sway and Powerpoint Live, and already excited to use this.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Kevin, I truly love your RU-vid channel and I regularly watch your videos which are very informative, so my demand is that can you make a video on how to do power point presentations for beginners.. you are awesome...
As someone else has commented, this is how Microsoft should teach people about their apps. I've been trying to used to theMicrosoft ecosystem on my Samsung Flexbook through my 365 account (and my free student account via my school) using Bing as my primary search engine, To Do, Outlook as my main email client etc, and I want to fully utilize my subscription but I have no clue how to use apps like Access, Sway, and Delve.
This is really fantastic and like the previous comment, I also had NO IDEA that Sway existed, so thanks Kevin for providing this fantastic introduction!
Hi Kevin, what's the best app in your opinion that integrates with Microsoft Teams that I can use to make a monthly blog for my classroom? My students love to share their writing and art and I'm looking for a bulletin-board or blog where I can share my students' work with each other and everyone.
I'd forgotten how useful Microsoft Sway was. I used it a little when it first came out, but then kinda forgot about it. I found it useful to avoid 'Death By PowerPoint'.
Hello Kevin, Thank you for knowing this app. I heard for the 1st time about Sway. Also could you please tell which tool do you use to record the video? That would be a great help.
As a longtime Linux user, I'm happy to see that Microsoft has a free product. As you are a Microsoft employee, it would be nice to see Sway and other Microsoft products (like Windows 10) open source and free. It would be nice to see forced updates and upgrades defunct in Windows 10. Have a nice day!
I've been using Sway in the last few years. I had to learn the software thru trial and error. There wasnt alot of information how to use it. I suggest creating another video using Sway content explaining the difference of Sway versus other software/apps and what it does. THEN, present a tutorial.
Never heard of this sway. Till i need to help my niece on her presentation. The only microsoft i use when i doin my presentation last time is powerpoint. This is a bit complicated
Never know sway until today. Complete and straight to the point tutorial. Learned it in less than 30 minutes. You're awesome! You may want tp speak a little slow next time. Its quite fast that I feel like your in a hurry. 😅
Thank you. I've been using Sway for a few months and this just confirmed the basics. I'm still struggling with some things. I would like to be able to lock a completed Sway once it's completed and published. I use it for school newsletters and simply duplicate as I go along and edit the content. I have accidentally edited the previous version which wasn't helpful.
This is so cool, thank you for introducing SWAY and I need to work on some newsletter to my clients. I have done a persona project not long ago using Power Point, I can put those content in SWAY and I am sure it presents nicely with more interactive content. BTW, I worked with a company in NJ and I love NYC, it's very much like HK and I enjoyed learning new skills by watching your videos. Good luck and I will share this on my FB so my friends in HK, TW, USA and UK can also benefit from your videos! Woo Hoo!
It looks like it is a tool that is specifically built to make newsletters. The output is supposedly accessible/508-compliant which is sometimes a stretch to get if you haven't developed the content correctly in Publisher.
