Hello mate, 29F800BB. To confirm this open up the ECU and check the EEPROM. Its a 1Mb flash memory chip.

if its cable throttle, the 29F400BB, if its DBW = 29F800BB

Rickey Wilbourn go into VCDS, and then settings. There should be a checkbox that says Boot In Intelligent mode. Uncheck that box and save. Then reopen Nefmoto and see if it works.

LM Tuning yeah did that and still won’t connect to nefmoto.

@@rickeywilbourn4867 is it showing up in control panel as a serial or virtual com port in control panel? If I remember correctly it's gotta be vcp and I'd start there. Uninstall the drivers and reinstall is an option. But your question isn't very clear...

I am having the exact same issue with my ross-tech cable on Windows 10, however my older Vag-Com KKL with the FT232 chip, works perfectly. Let me try and explain in a bit more detail what I am experiencing when trying to connect with the ross-tech hex-usb. I disabled the "Boot In Intelligent mode" in VCDS, double checked that it is still disabled after a reboot When I try to connect Slow Init with any baud rate (I tried every single option), I see the following error: "Failed to read test echo from FTDI device." which leads me to believe I need to set up a Virtual COM Port for my Ross-Tech HEX-USB. I have not tried this as of yet and will be my next step. I have also uninstalled and re-installed the driver with no success.

@@labordemotorsport as i already have payed for the unitronic stage2 files and the uniconnect cable im not searching for another tune but i need help figuring out what i can do to get the ecu to accept the flash. Tcu flashed fine. Just ecu is locking me from writing to it at all, but even if it stops at 0% it still gets "bricked" and in need of a recovery with different hardware. I think the current flash is using some tecnique to to lock me out.. and i need help ;/

You need to go see a Unitronic dealer. They can bench the ecu for you. Alternatively ask the dealer (Audi) to factory update your ecu. This will set it to stock and then you should be able to read and write the ecu with the unitronic tool.

Alternatively, find someone with a Vag Can Pro or ODIS and an FRF file of your software version. If your tuner needs help getting a file to factory update your ecu ask them to message us.

@@labordemotorsport seeing an unitronic dealer is not an option as im in sweden and nardocar couldnt help me benching the ecu unfortunately. But updating the ecu at audi will reset the ecu completely, 100%? If so it should be working. Will test this first then as i would have to send the ecu to canada otherwise. Not being able to use the car for a few weeks at least :/

The file will be copied from the ECU, no need to reflash :)

Facelift Audi A4 B5 is Bosch ME7.1, with the 29F800BB flash memory.

Pre facelift Audi A4 B5 is Bosch M5.92, and can only be bench flashed. It can be read and written to however with a GQ4x4 programmer (directly to the chip desolder etc)
