Thanks for sharing Kevin. Perhaps, it will be great if Ms can employ "client side, zero knowledge encryption" to that Personal Vault folder as that would be a game changer, definitely. Personally, as of yet, I wouldn't dare add a copy of my passport or anything confidential into that "vault".

Is there any kind of encryption over OneDrive? What is the best security practice to get our files encrypted and stored in the cloud ?

Since you did not state that Personal Vault includes any additional file encryption measures I will be sticking with a Cyrptomator + OneDrive combination.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the video. I've set up personal Vault but constantly get the message, "it's not up to date", I authorize and verify the account again. When I look at the properties of an actual folder in the vault it shows, "Availability status Excluded (not synced)". I don't remember setting it up to backup files, but think that would be a good idea. How do I correct the persistent error message?

Can you use Power Automate to upload to the Vault? I think to do that, you'd need an app-password? (Just guessing).

I later researched and noted that Microsoft has not made it available for MacBook yet. Is there a workaround? How can I access my files on Personal Vault off-line on MacBook Air?

I personally use the one drive encrypted vault but I do employ sophisticated security in the cloud and on my devices and do monitor the accounts and change passwords often.

I've made the setup for this new function, but it's useless for me. The problem is that there's LIMITATION FOR ONLY 3 FILES. For more files is asking for some kind of Premium subscription.

I have just signed up for personal vault and have started to move some documents into it along with some photo's, but when I click on the folder with photo's in it, there is just icons no pictures which makes sorting them out basically impossible. Good Microsoft is also providing a list of files they would like to see in your personal vault. You don't want NSA digging your entire computer wasting their precious time ;)

Very interesting, but 2 things. You said just drag and drop, but you didn't say or show from where you were dragging. Second, the icon that you dragged said it was a copy and not that it was moving it. Was it already in OneDrive, or elsewhere? I hope you will produce a more updated and compreheisive video

SMS or email verification is not very secure. I'm surprised there isn't Authenticator app 2-factor authentication for this. Also, a 3 file limit for free users is very pitiful! I think I will stick with Cryptomator, it's free, encrypted and has no file limitations. And you can upload your vault to any cloud service or just keep it local on a PC or USB stick.

It is not that strong idea for reasons which are … Most of my personal one drive is me and my family document . Specially if you have12 people in your family … So what you are saying … move everything to it …. second funny part which is the password file … Usually you go to a folder with 100 word document and name new file similar to the others then lock it … this way the person will not know where to look . But at the vault … he know if he open the vault he will find everything !!!

It's an unstable piece of shit that just wrecks your OneDrive sync. Absolutely the worst thing they've done in a long while.

OneDrive Lost all my 1TB of data. The issue started In August 2019 .A software robot decided to block/ lock me out of my Onedrive and my microsoft account my account with no explanation. I paid £79 p year for Onedrive . I had it for two years now and they have blocked my account with no explanation at all, Not even paypal can get my money back even though I am within UK laws 14 days refund cooling-off period for this year , this is how giant companies behave. .Ironically all my data is still shared in the cloud so it's obviously a robot that decided and NOT a human. So when Artificial intelligence eventually (soon) rules the world then expect something akin to the film The Terminator since the present robots are useless, some people will end up as NONE citizens because some algorithm has decided ( computer says NO) . I have spent months now trying to hunt for a REAL person to speak to but to my horror story , there is no way on earth to contact anyone in Microsoft accounts because ironically you need an Unblocked account to even email them. How stupid is that? So beware if you lose access to your one drive because they lock you out, then they Blank you NEVER talk to you again. Then all your data WILL be lost or inaccessible ( in my case I can access some shared links I kept, thus proving no human has closed my account 2 months later). I would recommend like me you also back it all up to a local hard drive every so often but move to a cloud storage company who actually speaks to you if they have an issue. Of course i will never use them again. Its been 2 months now with zero contact from them and no matter how many times I fill in the form, the numb nuts automated system never replies and they never fix it, and I end up in going in telephone circles trying to access or find a real person to help me.
