Video-In this free video I show you everything you need to know to successfully set up and operate the Schuberth SRC Bluetooth Headset System. The SRC system was designed by Cardo Communications to be specifically used with the Schuberth C3 helmet by replacing the OEM neck roll pad. The Schuberth SRC is a super slick and clean head set and communications system and you don't have to have a bulky box hanging off the side of your motorcycle helmet.
That's right, you can listen to your music inside your helmet via bluetooth from your smart phone or mp3 player. You can pause/play your music list and even skip songs forward and back with the buttons right on the SRC! The SRC has a built-in FM radio with six programmable presets. You can talk to two other riders with specific Cardo headset systems, making it three-way communications within 1000 feet. Once paired via bluetooth with your smart phone you can make and receive phone calls right inside your helmet via voice commands.
The SRC speakers are plenty loud even while going down the freeway and I never turn the system volume all the way up. I have tested phone calls and the person on the other end can't even tell I am riding my Harley Davidson while talking with them.
Of course I show you how to do all of the above and more with the Schuberth SRC System in this tutorial video, so check it out. You will still want your smartphone attached in front of you on your handlebars with a Biker Gripper Motorcycle Cell Phone Mount to make some things easier and I discuss this in the video.
The only negative with the SRC System is that you can only update the firmware in the unit with a PC and there is no MAC support at this time. That is a failure in my opinion. Only with a PC can you connect your SRC System with the provided USB cable and update the firmware.

Thanks for the video, great information but any idea how to change the language, I'm in the UK and bought the system on the web from Germany so the preset language is German, the manual doesn't actually give the menu structure so I have no idea how to move the language to English via the buttons. Cheers.

This won't connect directly to the Boom Box.....there is no Bluetooth Headset that will pair "Directly" with the Boom Box. There are workarounds. The Sena Freewire will make a "Sena" headset compatible with the Boom Box. I bought this helmet and its great, very comfortable,quiet the SRC system works well however trying to find the buttons with gloves on is difficult and cold weather gloves need impossible I looking into a mod. all that aside I wouldn't change for any other helmet.

Great review! question though, you're reviewing the SRC for the C3 , I'm hoping to get a C3 Pro and later on maybe the SRC for it The system fits both types of the helmet? Or is the Cardo Packtalk a better choice?

Hi Ryan, Thanks for the very informative video. I am about to purchase the SRC for my C3 Pro. I am hoping it will provide the solution I need to work with my Sena Prism camera. Perhaps you could advise. Right now I have an entry level Sena 3S headset. Voice over the video works a treat but in this mode I lose the connection to the phone for music & satnav prompts as the Prism takes priority. I would like to maintain the music and satvav prompts while still being able to record voice to the video. Would you know if the SRC would accommodate this? Advice apprecaited.

If you pair your helmet with your GPS, and your camera to your helmet, then your camera would be on intercom. On an SRC, GPS turn by turn would take precedence over intercom. (so the reverse as you describe it). An SRC would support this arrangement. I think the catch is whether your GPS announces itself in bluetooth as being a GPS, so the SRC can destinguish between the two and give precedence to it. You can find out in the shop.. if you pair it with a helmet and you hear "GPS Connected," in your helmet, you're good to go. Hope it helps.

Hi, how do you actually communicate with another rider paired up with your system? I recently purchased an src and my two buddies have an src and a scala Q1, so how do I communicate with them and how does the scala communicate with me?

How would you switch between a phone and a gps or a buddy using a Sena since you can't connect to more then 1 at the same time? Thanks

I have a Garmin Zumo GPS that I use as a communications hub. Ryan mentions this at about 12 minutes into the vid. So first go into the bluetooth menu on the GPS, and pair your SRC to the GPS. As shown in the vid, hold the phone button on the SRC depressed for 6 seconds. You wil hear a voice announcement: "GPS Connected". Now, while in the bluetooth menu in the GPS, pair your phone with it. There may be a prompt for a pin either on your phone or GPS, depending on the make and model. Once both devices are paired with your GPS, you can listen to turn by turn instructions from the GPS, and dial or answer phonecalls using your GPS (At least, the Garmin Zumo supports both methods). An incoming phonecall will be audible, and displayed on your GPS. You can choose to accept or reject the call by touching the button on your GPS screen. While on the phone, your turn by turn instructions will be muted. Please understand that while riding your bike, being on the phone will shorten your life. Stay safe and always reject the call. Pull over on a safe spot and call back the person that called you. Just saying.. Another cool feature of the Zumo is that you can play your phone's music through it. That will drain your phone's battery real quick though. The alternative is to insert an SD card holding your favorite music into the GPS if it supports that. Now you have the best arrangement. Music, telephone and turn by turn instructions. But wait.. there is more My wife also has an SRC set in her helmet, so I can talk to her if I want to (and vice versa of course :) ) There's a catch. Turn by turn instructions will mute the intercom. About ten seconds after the latest instruction it switches back to intercom. (wife's helmet is paired with my helmet) It may need coaxing back to intercom by pressing the A-button. Another thing is that playing music on your helmet AND using your intercom is not a good idea. You would have to toggle the A button once you feel your passenger punch you in the ribs. She has no way of knowing that the intercom is muted. But wait, there is more still. Garmin has an app for your phone called Smart Link. It is used to convey near realtime traffic information, speedtraps etc. (There may be a dependency on where you live, check out garmin's site for this) So hogs heaven? Well close, but not quite cigar. The Garmin Zumo's have a problem, where if you drive by a car with a cheap (always discoverable) bluetooth carkit, the GPS will try to pair with it. If that happens it shows up on your screen, asking you whether you would like to pair with it. But in doing so, it cuts your SRC, and all the settings you painstakingly put into it. I've had many times where I had to pull over and restore my settings. There is no way that I know of to lock down the bluetooth environment as you would always want them. Other than that it's an OK setup. Thanks for your vid Ryan, as you say, it's one of the few that go into detail.

Have not used the cardo for a year. I charged the unit and cannot get it to pair with the phone. Everything is on and recognized but the pairing is unsuccessful.

Yes, but it depends on different models. Some talk and some don't. You have to try and pair. Sena won't talk with others either sometimes.

Connect the device via USB to a windows pc. Install the schuberth src software from their site and select English as the language when the software is open. This is how you set it.
