i have used it and its soo amazing. only one problem its providing me with soo many sprinklers. compared to what can be used. it has made it too costly. while i know it can be less
The version I run as of June 2021 does not look anything like this program and I cannot figure out how to add scale. Also, how in the world do you stop drawing after you've clicked all 4 corners of a rectangular area??? I have tried, clicking the first point, dbl-clicking, shift -clicking, right clicking. Nothing seems to work!
Still figuring this out myself, but sometimes you can freehand draw, then click the initial icon (lot, structure) and it will end the freehand. I tried to their chat feature (hidden well as it looks like a sprinkler in the lower right corner) but you have to be patient. Danielle did get back to me and also provided this tip on saves - open a duplicate tab and look at your saves there to confirm save is working.
The free online design did not display all the features shown here and the software would not allow me to align porch or concrete features. Very disappointing for me.
WARNING: The program had an update. Orbit needs to update the guide. It also has no help menu and no contact info for help. You would think there would be some form of help tools! Also: don't have an ad block program running or it will cause random problems.
Great video. I know this is 5 yrs old but the program is still available so needs to be discussed. It locks up once I spend all the time to map and configure dimensions - this after multiple attempts and restarts. Before that I couldn't find a way to recalibrate by using the measuring tool so distances were 10x by default. The next day I tried for a third session. Had to restart several times again but I finally got it to recalibrate. Weird that the option didn't even show yesterday. My PC is a 2yo gaming PC I built so it's fairly competent but the program is just buggy. I also felt the drag points were not intuitive and are unlike any other graphic or photo program I've used. To me it's likely an old offering from an employee or hired team that is no longer employed by Orbit - clearly not supported. I shouldn't complain but it wouldn't even allow me to build a price list even if I was going to buy the massive list directly via the program. Sorry but this kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Here's a trick: Upload a Google earth image, Use the recalibration based on a known dimension, Then do a separate overlay for the concrete and house. Screen shot each image that has your measurements and then print out a clean version of the Google Earth pic. Now you can overlay and transfer the lines and measurement to paper and you can lay out your zones. Paper and pen it is!
Great video. Wondering, why doesn't it have you mark the areas you want sprinklers/watered instead of spending so much time telling where you don't? End result is the same, yes? You could have put a box in the yard areas and have it calculate for that only.
When I click "get started", I get an "Install flash player message" even after installing and making sure that flash player can be run in my browser. Tried in IE, Chrome and FF. In IE after going to install Flashplayer page, the "Test link" confirms that flash player can be executed.
This site appears to work now without Flash, but I still can't get it to function properly... sometimes drawing lines works, then they don't, or the entire page goes white and quits. Is there any alternative option at this point?
I have been trying to figure this software out but it says that I need thousands of sprinklers for my property which is obviously way off.. I have tried calling customer support and they haven't called me back after a day. What else can we try to get specific support for our properties?
The software from the website is different form this so I can't follow the tracing option in beginning. I think the new software is broken with Chrome. (you can't drag the tracing rectangle for the lot drawing nor can you pull the sides).
I'm planning to connect the system to rainwater tank to supply the water, but I dont know exactly which pump I'm gonna use. how can I set it?? Is it possible? The software can help me to identify which pump should I use to have the prop water flow and pressure?? Thanks in advance.
Hello, unfortunately this system is designed for the use of municipal water supply and does not have any settings for pumps. If you know the GPM and PSI your pump will produce, you can enter those settings and it should give sufficient results.
First I though this was a great program until I tried it. Wow it is a great idea but does not work. I tried on a high powered desktop computer for CAD and it did not work at all. I was not able to get the measurements or anything else to work. Then I went to my new laptop (Surfacebook Pro - top of the line) again no luck. It did come up with a few more things but it was like pulling teeth to get the littlest thing to work. Very good idea but very poor program. Sorry not ready for use at this point. Time for a new program team. This looks bad on Orbit as if you can't get this right how can you design a sprinkler system. I tested with Windows 10 and Chrome without any luck on 6/27/2021
I have spent 8 hours trying to get this planning appp to work. After 30+ in software, I can confidently say this app, which now does not operate as the RU-vid demo, is a total piece of crap. Operational errors, inability to recall save plans, missing sizing and positioning capability on trees and such. I was really jazzed to use this app and then perform a large project in my new home. I am an experienced irrigation user that moved from AZ and this app has forced me to move to other vendors thatn Orbit. Bummed.
Works a bit better on Chrome but impossible to import a google earth photo on Safari. It still has a lot of trouble with importing and setting distances in Chrome on Macintosh OS 11.6 Big Sur but it managed to finally do it. Need to fix the functionality of setting a known distance on an imported picture. I had to scale the picture down to get it on the screen.
