It's pretty cut and dry I think: pattern sets is for setting single patterns or chains live so you can switch "improvised" whereas song mode arranges a specific order and timing for a linear song.
Nice vid, didn't know you could chain them. I rarely use pattern set since I don't play live and use song mode instead. One question: can you still tweak stuff like the filter cutoff or fx parameters or even mute/unmute parts while in pattern set mode? (Shift+pattern set)
Louis-Philippe Guilbert ahh yes I think. this was exactly what I realized I had not tried after posting the video but when you change patterns it won't save the settings, unless you save the pattern. This can be great for experimentation!
Nice one, this is a feature I've never tried. Also, cute little tunes you got going. I'm going for grime/2-step garage, this machine really shines in those genres.
@@RonCavagnaro Ah, cool. My main pc with Reason isn't rigged at the moment, but my plan is to send MIDI commands from there to start it, then run it through a mixer with hardware effects and EQ and record it in tempo for possible further editing. Hardpanning the L/R and 3/4 outputs gives you 4 mono separate outs too which is useful if you want, say, the kick, snare and bass recorded on separate tracks.
Great video, but please answer me something. Why every time that I push the button ¨play¨a song start to run instead of the things that I want to save in the patterns or what I want to play live and record on the fly? thanks!!
All this years I used to spin this round to change patterns in live! All this years! And now, when I start to think about selling device, you told me that there was an easier way... I'm disappointed.
