Thank you, speaking slowly helped me to zoom in on the pronunciation 😊

Do you think this is good speed or better be slower? ☺️

@@ChinesewithJiayi For me the speed was perfect because it allowed me to concentrate on the pronunciation and at the same time, understand the meaning of the sentence (improved my comprehension). Also, when you first read the sentence in English but in the Chinese order (structure), that really helped me to “think” in Chinese!! I try very hard to think in Chinese. Then by finally saying the sentence like we would say it in English, it helped me to solidify the information in my brain. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, I wish your channel had popped up on my RU-vid a long time ago but I am very happy that now I can study your classes. Thank you for your hard work

You gave the literal translation of "he with a magnifier looking at little bugs" for 他用放大镜看小虫子, but it seems 用 is "uses". So, wouldn't it be more literal to say, "he uses a magnifier to look at little bugs?" Sorry for nitpicking, but I'm really wondering if 用 can correctly be translated as a preposition? When I look it up in my resources, it lists it only as a verb and noun.

You are right about that, 用 is a verb and can be a noun as well. I list 用 here as a preposition more from the translation perspective (with, using, regarding"how"), in a seemingly two verb sentences. Similarly, 坐火车去北京 go to Beijing by train, where 坐 is also a verb (to sit).

Verbs like 用, 给,把 aren't perfectly matching other languages in meanings. They're considered as prepositions too when it comes to sentence patterns, maybe you hear of 把字句, etc...

In order to improve my Chinese listening skills, there is now tons of material on every level on RU-vid. In your opinion, is it more efficient to listen to ten different videos and only understand 10% to 50% for each different video, or, listening 10 times listening to the same video in order to get 99% to of the content?

Hi, I can only speak from my experience of learning German, for which I passed three levels within half a year by sticking to only one program (news adapted to certain levels) and repeated each episode, maybe for 10 times, until I got nearly all meanings.
