Nice idea, but what if the reference music you were using is in a different key from your music?. The two are never going to look exactly the same

You're right, but I do mention later on in the video that simply applying an EQ to your mix won't conform it to your reference. I also say that referencing a track involves taking into consideration... Key, tempo, instrumentation, timbre, genre, etc... So, the goal is not to have a perfect match. If you notice the bottom-end is heavier on your reference than on your track, for example, you want to add more low-end to your track. Hope that makes sense, thanks! - Stefan
