Sabiki rigs are great rigs to have when you can't catch bait with your cast net. in this video we show you would kind of rigs we use and how to jig up baits. The baits we are jigging up are cigar minnows and threadfin herring, though you can also catch baits like Bluefish, Blue Runners, Goggle Eyes, and Pinfish using the same methods.
After catching our bait we show you how to troll baits like Cigar minnows to catch King Mackerel. Below is some of the gear we use to catch Kingfish and bait.

Sea Anchor Drift Sock (we use two and shut off 1 motor to go slow enough for the live bait) amzn.to/2zkYLUl
For most baits I use 40lb camo wire that is NON-COATED. amzn.to/2S7dYUD

Sea Anchor Drift Sock (we use two and shut off 1 motor to go slow enough for the live bait) amzn.to/2zkYLUl
Below are some links to the hooks I like.
I typically use a #6 treble hook when fishing with pogeys (menhaden) or ribbonfish.
If I am using Blue Runners or Goggle Eyes in a tournament I might go up to a #4 hook though. amzn.to/2MLoj2K amzn.to/2G5gHYn
Most reels I use are TLD 20's. These are great all around reels though for Kingfish a reel with a faster retrieve is more ideal, like a torque, fathom, or speed master. amzn.to/2ltpYk5

You should make a video completely dedicated to how to use ur fish finder for when you're bottom fishing, seems like the most important part.

Always enjoy your videos, they stimulate thought/discussion, and sometimes we learn a few things. A couple of tips, (1) you're right, not all sabikis are created equal, a reason why some are more expensive, (2) add a beed to your line so the swivel can't go beyond the eye tip and get stuck, (3) it killed me watching your mate strangle those poor cigar minnows, for god sakes, use a dehooker :-)

Glad you enjoy the videos! Great tips on the beads and de hooker. I'll give those a try!

Good video, as usual. Wanted to tell you that I have seen videos of other fishermen catching bait, they suggest not to touch the bait and don't let it fall on the floor or get hit with anything, as much as possible, so the bait is in its optimum shape and can last longer, they suggest to use a dehooker letting then fall directly in the livewell. Here in boca we catch more ballyhoo than sardines, I do it with a hoopnet.

Hey Boris, thanks for the comment! That's correct. A dehooker and putting them in the livewell directly does help. Cigar minnows are very hardy and we weren't keeping the baits for a long period of time or for a tournament so the extra care wasn't necessary but if you can do it it would be a good habit to get into.

That was helpful, thanks! Could you do a video on your radar/sonar fish finder setup sometime?
