For anyone struggling with how to play the sample, Push M on the keyboard to turn on midi mode (its also the piano button on the very top right of the screen) After that, you can push A for normal speed, and L for fast speed. The buttons in between A-L on the keyboard control the speed as well. It's absolutely insane that you can't find this information anywhere online, let alone a tutorial for HOW TO USE SAMPLER
I find this is the huge issue with a huge amount of these tutorials, they literally dont even give you the most important part of what you need to do, since they dont work backwards and put themselves in the shoes of some one starting out, its the same for alot of other programs and talents, like art, modeling, language, programming etc
Great tutorial! I looked up what the selector does and basically allows you choose which sound is played when you press a key irrespective of pitch. For example, imagine you have two kicks. With the selector , you can choose which kick is played by moving the blue slider found at the top of the selector grid. You can then automate this slider to have your kicks vary while having only 1 midi track. Another use for it is having more control over which sounds layer with each other. Imagine you have 3 kicks but you want only 2 of them to be layered. You can do that with the selector as well
GOD BLESS YOU. for some reason i cannot understand ableton and it’s setup, every video i have found is so confusing. this is exactly what i needed, THANK YOU!!!!!🙏🫡
Hey Sam, very helpful! Do you know if the loops that we added to a sample can be read by other programs? I'm wondering where the data is actually stored.
@@samsmyers Yes. I was hoping that I could find a nice loop using Ableton’s Sampler, and then export the looping points to the actual file, and use it in Omnisphere. It seems not. But I found a free program called Endless WAV that does it. Only the sustain loop however, but that’s all that Omnisphere reads so I’m good.
hi, great video but i have a question, when i use the sampler and i play different notes on the keybord, the tempo decreases when i play lower notes, and increases when i play higher notes. How can i turn this option off?
Hello :) very newbie question here, but when i am loading up the sample, it dont not play the sample. like i dont hear the sound. What i am doing wrong? hehe
Hi, i´m tring to create multiple intrument rack with difent samples in each one to select later on of by midi but i can see only can i create 1 rack in ecah midi channel? Do i need to create one midi channel for each sample songs?
Funnily enough, I'm one minute in and the most mind blowing thing is the device view collapse in the bottom right - how the F did I never notice that before???
@@no_gods_no_masters You need to arm the track. there should be a red icon on. To the right of the number on the track there's an S which stands for solo and to the right of that there's this circle or clock icon and when you click it it should turn red. Selecting In will allow you to play it by pressing the key but you won't be able to record anything without the red icon being on.
Hi Sam, thanks for the tutorial. Have a question: when importing a wav file into the sampler it seems that the quality of the original wav sound after importing it into the sampler is being lost. How can I make sure to keep the exact same settings as the original sound when importing it into the sampler? would appreciate your help. Krgds, Lev
I was looking for the answer on very important question:In sampler, when i switch on sustain mode “back and forward”,set up the cross fade I can’t make sampler to play my sample faster then it does.In your video it happens too.Where is the way out of the problem?
When you put a sample into the sampler, you play it with a midi controller/keyboard. If you dont have one, then you can draw midi notes. Hope that helps.
@@watkins7086 I saw a lot of people who didn't have a midi controller or keyboard and still could get started the sample in sampler instrument...everything happens on the laptop...that's what I want too 🤷🏽
*I have a question, There is an sound on tiktok that I want to use in a song in Ableton, any idea how I can get that voice clip and turn it in to either a sample, or loop or WAV file to use it in Ableton live 11?*
I am VERY new to Ableton Live 11 and I only have the trial. I am just wondering if anyone in the comments knows the best way to GET samples free off of RU-vid or something. I am currently making my first drum and bass track and I really need samples for this song so if anyone can suggest a way to get samples that would be amazing!
Liked! Thank you! Question: Is there a way to export these (edited) samples to a folder? I would like to use my edited (time warped vocal) samples in another device. I usually use Ableton as a slave to my (main or master, whatever you want to call it, fyi Logic or Cubase) DAW, because Ableton's time warping (time stretching or time compressing) capabilities are unmatched, imho. Afterwards however I want to keep it simple: One DAW, or maybe even no DAW and dump everything to the AKAI to be played from a keyboard. Much appreciated, Best regards from Belgium
Yeah you'll have to record your midi (on C3) then freeze the track and put that on a audio track then export the audio and you'll have a sample of your edited sample from Sampler that you can use in another DAW/Synth. If you didn't follow just look up how to bounce audio in Live. Once you have a bounced version in audio you could even just drag and drop it into your browser somewhere and then import it from other DAW.
Hey Sam! I have a question about the pitch envelope in sampler. Everytime I enable the glide or portamento effect and set up its time, the effects is not working. I can't hear any glide or portamento effect whenever I play my midi keyboard. How can I fix this? Is there any specific sample/sound in order to hear the glide/portamento effect? Thank you in advance!😊
Based off the comments I can tell how poorly this was done. For those wondering why you can't get the Sampler to play your sample. First a Sampler turns your sample into a playable instrument, so you need to press a note on your piano keyboard or any midi keyboard including your computer keyboard, if the keyboard looking icon on the top right is turned on that allows you to play the middle section (or A-L) on your keyboard.
