Hi i was wondering when do i transfer sim card from old to new phone. Before or after doing data transfer?

It's recommended to leave the SIM card in the old phone until the transfer is completed. This is just in case the transfer has an issue and you need the old phone working to resolve the issue. Smart switch doesn't use the SIM for anything, though, so it shouldn't make a difference as long as the transfer goes smoothly. Just don't mess with the SIM cards at all until smart switch has fully completed the transfer.

No problem. Hopefully the video helped. I believe I set up the sim card first and then did the transfer. I don't think the order should matter too much since I don't think Smart Switch needs anything related to the sim card, but if you want to be on the safe side, maybe set up the sim card first.

What about social media apps such as IG, Tinder, Tantan, Twitter, etc ? All the data ( friends list, chats, account) can be transferred?

Yes. You'll notice at about 8:40 in my "Fun" folder I have snapchat and instagram. Both apps were transferred from the old device. The data that you are referring to (friends list, chats, etc.) are tied to your account rather than your phone. So, you will likely have to login to your account on the new device once you do the transfer, but all your data should be there! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just watched this video, hope mine goes smooth also. I've done this twice but the last time I did it something messed up and only half of my stuff transferred haha let's hope this time goes better. When I start the new phone will it prompt me to smart switch or do I login to the home screen and then smart switch?

Sorry to hear you had issues last time. Sometimes if the jump in generation is too big, not everything will transfer. Like if you went from an s6 to an s22, it probably wouldn't transfer everything. I guess it isn't guaranteed that everything will go anyways but most of it should. From my experience, you have to go into the phone and click on the smart switch app to get things started. It didn't prompt me when I turned on the phone.

Can the data be transferred from old MI phone to samsung s21?

It's hard to tell without knowing more information. Your S21 will for sure be compatible, but im not sure about the old phone. Smart switch works with most devices, but there are a few requirements it needs to meet. The biggest is related to how old the operating system is on the old device. Please look at this page, which is the requirements for Smart Switch provided by Samsung: www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/smart-switch . Click on the drop down menu titled "introduction", and you should be able to select "requirements".

I believe it should work on that device. Is it not showing up in your app store? Or, is it showing up and not letting you actually download it?

This is a great question. You should be able to if you download the pc version of smart switch on your computer. If you only care about contacts, though, you might not need to. You should be able to go to your contacts, click the 3 line menu button, tap "manage contacts", and you should be able to export them to your pc if you would like.

It shouldn't make a difference. Smart switch should work regardless of whether either phone has a sim card. I honestly don't recall what I did, though.
