It already has done that for me quite a few times. I haven't watched the video yet, but it saved me from having to rerecord/reprogram tracks I received for mixing, in particular kicks and vocals. Looking forward to get more ideas on how to use it from David.

Bro...this plugin is AMAZING. The fact that you can independently control amplitude and tone AND monitor in real time as you manipulate is, yeah....a revolution. All in one box with a kick ass (FabFilter type) GUI. Holy shit. This takes away the gaudy technique of compression + EQ and all the compromises that brings. This is fucking surgery at a quantum level. This plus a limiter really is all you need to fix stuff. A real timesaver. I'm getting it. Thanks for reviewing this. Keep up the good work. I'm going to get this one, bro.

I downloaded Split EQ, with the intention of doing a 30 day free trial. My first test was using it on a finished (but not yet mastered) 2-mix… Within only 10 minutes of working with it and hearing what it could do, I was headed to Eventide’s website to buy it, and that doesn’t often happen with me when I’m trying new processors. IMO, Split EQ is one of those rare processors that is exceptional. Having the ability to separate and process the tonal and transient elements of audio independently makes Split EQ a highly innovative and useful tool for EQ processing. The GUI layout is also designed very well. Between Eventide’s Split EQ and Sonible’s Smart processors, I’ve been able to work far more efficiently, drastically cutting the time it takes me to finish even the densest of mixes. IMO and FWIW.

Thank you for sharing. Yeah, I had to grab this as well, since it makes handling problematic dialogue quite a bit easier. It took about two days of tests to convince me I can't live without it, and now you come along and show off the effect tricks, which certainly saved me some time, so thank you again. I'm already in the process of laying out controls on my third Midi Fightet Twister and my faders. What a relief this is going to be for voice over as well. RX takes care of sputters and thumps but this is the ultimate smoothness and special effect control.

I bought this plug-in because of it's novel functionality, trusted reviews, and because I could afford it during Black Friday sales. But although I've played with it, I haven't played with it enough. Incredible review. Sale ended Jan 3. I had looked up numerous videos on it and never sold on it as I have Elevate which is the precursor to this, with transient control separate and of course YOU sold me because you know how to deliver helpful and useful content! Meldaproduction can handle every multiband plugin this way since years. Delay, Reverb and so on. Revolution! And there mautodynamiceq can also work in tonal/transient mode. Not that easy like spliteq, but maybe better?!

The workflow of this plugin is faster and more intuitive than Melda's. But yes you can probably achieve the same results.

No transient plugin turns my Spring Reverbs into Plates as well as putting SplitEQ before the reverb with all transients turned down 30db. ZERO spring BOING when desired

Thanks David for another great video. I have one question. I`m about to buy Elysia Nvelope 500 unit for transient design of specific bands (to use especially on drums/bass/808). After watching this video I`m confused if it`s a good move. What would you rather use for both mixing (transient shaping) and mastering... single Spit EQ or hardware Elysia Nvelope and oridinary EQ with MS mode?? I know you used to have Elysia Nvelope 500 in your rack for some time. Can you please help me to make a right decision. Go hardware with EQ plugin I already have or save money and use Split EQ. (let`s just focus on transient shaping, just forget that Elysia can be also an EQ). Thank you so much. Lucas

I never yad the nvelope, I has their eq and still have the xpressor. TBH I'd get SplitEq, I don't know the nvelope but their eq had too low a headroom (the comp doesn't) and split would be overall better for mastering

Sup?1 Yo, please do one for 2 Track Beats and how you would carve space for your vocals in your instrumental using Split EQ. I noticed many younger producers in general refuse to send out stems because it may more than likely sound different at mixdown stage and this even in my experience, not a good different. This is most apparent in Hip-hop, Amapiano and Afrobeats. I guarantee that it will be in your most watched videos yet. If Eventide can also co-sign it'll be great.

It doesn't sound better because the beatmaker (which is not a mix engineer) does a basic static mix to which everyone gets used, then the artist tried to mix it him/herself lol. Give it to a real mix engineer and you'll be fine. Mixing vocals on a "premixed" beat is like cooking a meal without the main ingredient and then trying to add it later. You probably can still stomach it, but it ain't gonna be that great :D

@@mixbustv Lol understood, I'm self produced, I have my stems and I work like Russ in terms of my skill set. Think, Future's I Never Liked You Album is 2 track beats according to the producer ATL Jacob who produced more than 50% of it. Alex Tumy has given countless classes confirming the same about most of Young Thugs music and YSL. Drakes Demo Tapes, same thing. I won't get into Afrobeats and SA's Amapiano... I'm trying to bring your attention to the leaders of the current sound and the large amounts of producers, engineers and artists they've influenced to make/mix music to sound like theirs. That's good business for you in terms of numbers.

Very often while mixing initial transient of bass/808 clashes with kick's transient. That forces us to work on both instruments transients so the work together. Would Split EQ work well for that purpose? Thank you for your answer David

@David, I want to use Kirchhoff EQ, Curve Bender EQ, & SplitEQ in the mastering chain. Split EQ as the subtractive pre-master-compression EQ? Kirchhoff EQ as the additive post-master-compression EQ? Curve Bender EQ as the post-Kirchhoff, colorisation pre-saturation/pre-P42 Climax-pre Stereo Imaging component EQ?

I'm not sure what are you asking me, if those three can be used in mastering? Yes of course, they are all at the top of their game. But you shouldn't start your session thinking "I want to use this and that". Does the song need 3 eq's?

Theory behind this plugin is amazing. I have never seen anything that does both transient and tonal control simultaneously. What's the CPU load on this guy compared to a multiband or dynamic EQ of similar caliber quality wise?

I don't know, I never check CPU on plugins, it has been a while since I worried about CPU usage at all with plug-ins

CPU load is low, and it has a bit over 4000 samples of delay.

@@jorykevinberger7047 4000 is the latency, it's not the CPU usage. It's quite a bit of latency, although mastering plugins can have over 10000 samples delay.

"I have never seen anything that does both transient and tonal control simultaneously." Not an eq, But Split EQ is obviously an extension of Physion... I use Physion, it has its advantages over spilt eq. Then Again.... Eventide have some absolute gold... Guess that's why I bought Anthology....

I’m just bummed people have been saying it doesn’t really work on heavy chug guitars because it’s essentially pink noise and almost impossible to separate tone from transient with distorted guitars

I don't recommend people buy Eventide plugins. If your ilok dies and you lose your licenses they won't send you replacement licenses. It's odd that all the other companies I have asked have all sent me replacement licenses except for Eventide. I guess I won't be buying any new Eventide licenses ever again in case I lose my current licenses and have to buy more. It's just too risky. Luckily I have so many other companies to choose from these days that offer similar plugins to those offered by Eventide. Most of them don't even make me use ilok in the first place.
