Stabilizer mode 2 is for when you are tracking your subject by panning (changing the direction the camera is pointed) DURING the shot. (stills or video). Stabilizer mode 1 is for when there is no panning intended during the shot. Basically, keep it on mode 1 unless you are shooting video, or you want to achieve a photo where the subject is sharp, but the background is motion blurred.
@@jkngphoto For panning photography: Keep it on, set to mode 2. Turn it off if your lens doesn't have a mode 2 option. If you're shooting at a high shutter speed, stabilization becomes irrelevant, so you can turn it off to extend battery life.
