I used shortcut to pop up menu and i can choose from camera, sound on/off, turn off and on location, open any app i want. It solved this problem for me now

hi great video , when i first got my iphone 15, i could touch the sceen at the top and silent my phone or activate it , it a black bar at top , dont know what i have done but i cant get it back on the front at the top , hope this makes sense

That would have been smarter but no matter what I tried all I could get it to do was one function. Single clicks just show you what action is on, long presses activate the selected action…

When the phone is in silent mode, and an incoming call comes in, is it possible to deactivate the silent mode by pressing the action button (so that it rings the phone during the call)?

You would have to test it as I mentioned in your other comment. I haven’t tried it myself so I’m not sure.

I agree. I wish the button pressed would scroll through. I also wish when the phone is on silent, there would be a notice or dot on the lock screen. I keep forgetting it’s on after leaving the doc and so on.

No unfortunately the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 plus doesn’t have the action button. Apple dedicated the action button the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models only.

So let me get this straight. The action button ONLY performs one thing? I thought if you held it down you'd mute or un-mute and if you just tap it it would do the other action function you choose. Is this not the way it works. To me it would be then always left on the mute function leaving the "action" button a use less feature to have.

For options that can be accessed from the Lock Screen. If you have it open apps through shortcuts you have r to show Face ID or enter your password to have the app open but it does just open right to the app

The back tap option is an accessibility feature that isn't the greatest. It has limited use and is easily triggered accidentally. Also, some options don't work well or at all. This action button can be customized a lot, but you have to use the shortcut options and create them; Apple does have to upgrade its options and make it easier to choose more.

I was only able to get one action to work with the action button. Long press activates the action, if you do a quick press it just lets you know what action is on or off. I feel like Apple missed an opportunity to create multiple clicks or long click short click actions.

This is my first iPhone and I’m having the worst time figuring this thing out… so in my settings, I don’t have the option listed as “action button” as you do. I have to scroll down to accessibility and then I have a “side button” option which only mentions something about Siri and button sensitivity. I just want to be able to have quick access to my camera quickly. 10 hour old iPhone 15 plus here. Someone, anyone?

Apple has done the BIGGEST MISTAKE of the company to have the audacity getting rid of the NOSTALGIC, ICONIC silent mode button. American company LOOVEE making MISTAKES for attentions and I will wait my whole life until they put the silent mode back with upcoming iphone 16,17,18,50 that I can finally buy. RIP iPhone. You could still just leave this button as is and it is a silence button. Only difference now is you press it to activate silent mode rather then using it as a switch.
