I never thought I’d have a need for the toon shader but here I am. Tasked with an explainer video, using a toolkit that doesn’t have the backgrounds I need. I don’t have time to learn Illustrator but I know Maya. This is very helpful.
Should be fine if you save as PNG but if you’re saving as an EXR, I have a tutorial for that! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QXKYhuMSQPw.html
If I work with texture maps, how can I make the gradients stand out in the render? I have used a texture map in the color base and added the gradient but the gradients are not appreciated in the render
Hi Raúl, under the Base aiToon attribute, plug the texture map into Color. To have the gradient stand out, plug a ramp under the Tonemap. Make sure the Interpolation is ‘none’ for the Ramp attributes and you should be good to go!
im wondering how can i change the line width? the width scaling and edge opacity both of them seems to just changing the opacity without the line width at all...
One question, this AiToon shader, is it a way to do 2D styling in Maya? Because I need to do a job explaining this to college. And since I'm pretty new to Maya, I'm a little confused. Thanks for the help.
When it comes to traditional 2D animation, I don’t think Maya is the best choice. There are a few workarounds like in the video below that might help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TqtTSxzTqco.html
