Thank you for your clear, precise explanation on making the block using the Strippy Star tool. I will tackle this project with much more confidence now. You are an excellent teacher!
I agree totally. I watched another video and your presentation was so helpful. You did a fabulous job of explaining all the little things to watch for in making the blocks. Glad I watched your video!
I hope creative grids pays you well! You are an excellent teacher. I use your ruler tutorials all the time. I would never have figured out how to use the flying geese ruler without watching your tutorial …. Several times.
@Nora 🤣 We are not in a partnership with Creative Grids. We do just LOVE their tools and how useful they are, and we enjoy sharing their usefulness with you!! We are thrilled that you enjoy the videos we make!! -Michelle
THANK YOU!! I have this tool, but have been discouraged in using it. I love that you have taken the time to go through and explain each step in detail. I am like you, and absolutely love these tools. I am suddenly seeing stars every where! 😂 Thanks again and looking forward to the next one! Happy quilting! 🧵
Wow! Such a great explanation! What a great delivery and thank you for pointing out what was intuitive for you. It would have been for me as well. You did a great job of preventing us from pitfalls. I know that this video is not new but perfect timing for me.
Your background music is so cheery! Love the teaching. Multiple sizes, yeah. I purchased a tool to make stars on my Quilt of Valor projects. Thank you! 🇺🇸
Like the rest of the comments, I too have this in my tool box but I haven't used it. I know years ago, I must have purchased it for a certain project that obviously got lost in the woods of my mind. Seeing it used is going to make me take it out and find something to play with, some loose strips, and a bit of background might be readily available, laughing about the irony. of course there is. Thanks Jen
Love that you can do so many different sizes. This is the Quilts of Valor block for this year. The pattern they provide is for a finished 13 inch block. I like making it but that's too big for most applications.
Hi Sue - That's an excellent question! The instructions that come with this Creative Grids tool mention to not trim that away since it provides for more stability for the block. -Michelle
Do you trim the white material beneath the blue star leg? If not, does it make it bulky and thick to quilt. I love the look of this runner. Thanks for the great tutorial
I noticed that you did not cut the excess of the background square after sewing the blue strips on. Looks like there are three layers on those two corners. Wouldn’t that make it bulky?
Hi Kendra, That's an excellent question! The instructions that come with this Creative Grids tool mention to not trim that away since it provides for more stability for the block. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. :) Jen
Well got my ruler and once again ripped ripped ripped. The center piece always looked like it wouldn’t float the points. Look short. But finally realized that when you sew the three rows together that brings those points in. How many times do I have to do this to realize that it works. Duh 🙄
I just have to have faith that the blue points float. When I see your pieces laid out it seems like the blue points will be cut off. This has fooled me before when making 2” finished stars. Kept trying to figure it out. Even ripped several times thinking I had done something wrong before finishing the block🤦♀️
Hello, I see you have a wool pad you know you can wash it with wool wash aka wool lite is the same as wool wash except it is a patented and copyrighted name meaning an expensive brand.
