Love how you demonstrate of the different uses of not only the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, bit also any skincare products ☺️ I bought a travel size of it, and so far loving it!
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Yes, I usually tend to by the trial/travel size first before buying the whole product itself. I see using this cleanser for the cold and dry weather here. I think it's almost similar to the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Acne Cleanser, but more hydrating. Maybe do a skincare of high end and low end for the upcoming cold season ☺️👍
I just used the new formula for the first time and I liked the texture and everything. However, it feels a bit tingling and I got some red spots on my face! you said that we should give our skin a break and then try it again (and that's what I will do) but how much time do you think needed as a break?
I’m a new lover of this amazing cleanser!! I never know if I should use 1 pump or 2 for my face. I feel like 1 pump is enough but sometimes at the end of the day when my face is more oily I like to use 2 pumps so my face feels really clean. What would you recommend?
Hello Melissa thank you so much for doing this review. I just bought new cetaphil gentle cleanser and i loveee it😊 I just want to know does it remove sunscreen completely?
I'm glad you like it! The effectiveness of removal depends on the type of sunscreen. If it's a chemical sunscreen, you have a good chance of removing it. However, if it's a mineral sunscreen, it likely won't be enough, and you'll need to use an oil or balm cleanser instead.
Hey Melissa What do you think about the new formulation I mean it's better than old one?As ,I hv extreme sensitive skin so should I give it a try once ?
I like it. However, I did experience some redness while I was using it for the first time. Then I gave my skin a break and used it again, and ever since that break, I haven’t experienced any redness or other sensitivities.
Do you have dry, acne-prone skin? If so, yes, you can do that. If you have oily acne-prone skin, I recommend using the Daily Facial Cleanser. However, if you do not wear makeup or sunscreen, there is no need to do that; you can just use it right away on your skin.
It depends on your skin type. If you have sensitive skin, the dry method might work better; otherwise, the other method is effective. But overall, I prefer the method that involves water.
I've been using epiduo for a while now and my face can't really stand foaming cleansers. I've been thinking about getting a gentle cleanser so my face isn't flaky all the time, would you suggest this one, another Cetaphil one or another brand entirely? Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks Melissa! 😃
You could try the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iwcpv2k8vXw.html) or the Cetaphil Hydrating Foaming Cream Cleanser (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V6X8enhr3oI.html).
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I've used the avene foaming cleanser in the past and even that is too harsh on my skin. Do you think your recommendations will be fine? They still seem to be foaming judging by your videos.
@@TewPaqs It's not an issue; it primarily depends on the ingredients being used. Often, cleansers from brands like La Roche-Posay, Avene, and similar others still use harsh ingredients even though they claim to be gentle.
Hello Beautiful Melissa, Thanks for giving wonderful guidances for skin care. I have a question, whats the difference between a facewash and a cleanser? I’ve been using facewash in morning and evening since long, now from some months I am into skin care routine, So is ot necessary to have a cleanser , I mean a good facewash isn’t enough ? P.S: I have been using cleanser generally twice in a week.
It really depends on the sunscreen you are using, but foaming cleansers generally work better to remove sunscreen. And if you want a cleanser that removes every sunscreen, use a balm cleanser such as The Ordinary Squalane cleanser.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet i do have a sensitive skin that easy to get oily and dull but also has acne, all i need now is to get it more clear and clean do you have a suggestion of what should i do? Would be appreciated ✨
@@egasuarjaya You can either use Cetaphil's Daily Facial or Oily Skin Cleanser and then follow it with a Salicylic Acid Toner or Serum, or you can consider using a Salicylic Acid Cleanser instead :)
Well, during the day, you could use sunscreen when exposed to the sun, but apart from that, if you do not have any specific skin concerns, you do not need to use any additional products.
Hi is the Aveeno calm and restore oat cleanser the same texture as this Cetaphil? I saw you did video on it would like to know before purchasing the Aveeno. Thanks!
Hi mellissa. I am using the new Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser for three days now and I am so confused because right after applying I always feel burning sensation on my forehead and nose but it lessened my acnes. I really don't know if I continue using this or not
Well, you can, but it does not effectively remove the oils. This may lead to clogged pores, so I would suggest using their daily facial cleanser, which is meant for normal to oily skin.
Yeah, that may be an issue. It also depends on how well you cleanse your face afterward and whether you generally have issues with pore clogging. Personally, I find it's not working well for me, as I always have the feeling of residue. So, I prefer to rinse and use the washcloth to properly remove it.
Hi .. is it true ?? one of it's main ingredients is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which is an cheap and irritating foaming surfactant that ranks as 5 on the 1 to 5 scale of pore-clogging ingredients. Please let me know I have been using this since one week I didn't get big acne but blackheads and i can't find out if it's because of the facewash or the retinol I have just added in the routine .
No, it does not contain that ingredient. But also, these scales are most often just useless, so do not look too much at it: incidecoder.com/comedogenic-rating This cleanser is for dry skin. If you have normal to oily skin, use their Daily Facial Cleanser.
After applying the cleanser to my face , can I use my bathing soap to wash it off while I’m having my bath ? Or using just water would be fine ? However , would you advise I use it with water or without water , which would be best ? Because I always apply a light moisturiser afterwards too .
Hey! :) Just wash off the cleanser with water, doesn't matter if you are doing this above the sink or in the shower :) It can be used either way. I prefer to use my cleansers with water except when working with an oil or balm cleanser, then I recommend applying it on dry skin and then taking it off with water :)
The just have finished the left old variant and i have combination to oily skin. The old version was suitable for me, but now I'm confused. Will this new variant suit oily skin?
Cetaphil's Gentle Cleanser is meant for normal to dry skin. So, if you have combo to oily, it would be best to look into their Daily Facial Cleanser :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet There's a lot of redness in my face. I've been using cethaphil for almost a month yet I still have these redness. What should I do?
@@isaiasclydedaniel391 Did you start using all these products together? Or, did you introduce one after the other? And do you have redness because of these products? 🤔
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I once used celetteque cleanser and then changed into cethaphil. Basically, I used them together. And, I already have redness before using these.
I am 14 year old and i tried cetaphil gentle cleanser few days ago. And I have a very sensitive skin. And I use it first I didn't feel any irritation and when I used it second time I felt it .and as you said to give it a break .I didn't used it for 2 and half days. But now I used it gives me irritation and red spots on skin. What shall I do ?
Is there anything else you're using? You could try the same product again and give it more time. I wouldn't give up yet if the irritation isn't persistent. It's possible that your skin may still adjust to it if the irritation subsides. I'm unsure what's causing it, but typically, these issues improve over time. However, if the irritation doesn't go away, stop using the product and consider seeking a refund.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet yes I have used this soap before but I don't have a skincare routine. When i gave a break to cetaphil. I used this soap twice on face but I don't used in the same routine because my skin is very sensitive .
So your skin does not have any problems with the soap, just with Cetaphil Cleanser? When using Cetaphil's Cleanser does it only create redness and a few spots and goes away after an hour or so...or does it sting and burn too?
It's for dry skin. However, if you have dry, acne-prone skin, you can still use that cleanser. Many people with acne, like myself for example, tend to have normal to oily skin. In such cases, the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser (sometimes also referred to as the oily skin cleanser) would be more suitable.
I bought this cleanser for my oily skin even though I know it is not specifically formulated for oily skin. The reason I purchased it is because I am currently using tretinoin, alpha arbutin, and glycolic acid as part of my treatment process.
I am not really fond of this. In my experience, it just causes more issues. A gentle foaming cleanser tends to work much better. However, if you are not prone to breakouts, it may work for you. Otherwise, you may not be happy with the results.
No, this is primarily used to wash your face. I recommend using a Vitamin C serum. Timeless 20% Vitamin C Serum or Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow Serum or La Roche Posay Vitamin C 10 Serum And here is a guide: How to use Cleanser, Vitamin C Serum and Moisturizer: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tG7RZ-CKSog.html
I do have this cleanser in my cart but I am considering cancelling the order. The ingredients list sounds good but I have pretty sensitive skin so I feel like this may just aggravate it. I think for now I will just stick with using water from the faucet with a spray nozzle.
Hey! :) If you think that water works the best for you, keep on doing it like this. However, I do have to say that this is a very gentle cleanser and leaves the skin clean, soft and hydrated :) - that's just my experience :)
@@SkintitaApril Hi there Anna. The last few days I have been trying this cleanser morning and night. I may reduce my usage to evenings only (every other day). As I mentioned my skin is quite sensitive. The cleanser definitely doesn't dry my skin like foaming cleansers did. The last 2 or so months prior to using this cleanser I used only water morning and evening with a spray nozzle.
Hey! :) I like Cetaphil's Gentle Skin Cleanser, Paula's Choice Softening Cream Cleanser or Balm Cleanser (like The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser or from Paula's Choice).
It's essentially the same, so just use the one that's most suitable for you. Alternatively, if you have multiple cleansing products, you can alternate between them.
For oily skin you can use the Daily Facial cleanser but they also have one with 2% Salicylic Acid it is called "Cetaphil Acne Face Wash" but it is often out of stock. So you may want to use The Inkey List Salicylic Acid cleanser or La Roche Posay Micropeeling Gel cleanser.
It would help if you wiped it off by rinsing it with water or with a soft and fresh washcloth or tissues or cotton pads. It is a cleanser used to "wash" your face, so it helps remove any dirt/impurities from your skin.
I used this and it’s very watery but it’s very gentle when using it. What I like about it is it doesn’t make my face feel tight after cleansing my face. But it’s very difficult to wash when combining with water. Because of my dry flakey skin. So I use without water first then rinse with water. But after 2 days of Washing I’m starting to see some small acne breakouts.Could it be the niacinamide? Or the other ingredients?
This could be, or because of another ingredient. Give your skin time to adjust to it. When I first used it, I experienced redness like a flush and it felt warm. I gave my skin a break and tried it again and the redness did not come back.
You've asked me this already, and apparently, you think that this cleanser is good and does not cause any issues for your skin. So, feel free to use it.
Hey Melissa, I have heard so many reviews on Cetaphil new formulation cleansers that after using new formula, people gets breakout, irritation, burning sensation, it's even drying out the skin and redness as well. So, did you felt the same thing to? Because I was planning to buy it? Can you please provide your review on it?
Is Cetaphil helps to remove my face from peeling I usually used rejuvenating but at the day 5 I stop using it because it's very hurtful and I might experience redness in my face include peeling , so I decided to stop using it, is this Cetaphil can help my face from redness and peeling?
Hello :) i am trying to create a suitable skin care routine, im certain now i ll buy cetaphil, but after the cleanser can i use rose hip or sweet almond oil? Or is it enough as cleanser and moisturizer? Thank you ❤️
Generally, it is enough just to wash your face; no need to follow with any additional products. But I have a video explaining how to build a skincare routine which you can find here: How to Build a Skincare Routine and What Products Do I Need?: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8gLrr2wbi_8.html
I experienced the same! I almost threw it away! However, I gave my skin a break and tried again and since that I haven't had any issues with it! But I'm not sure what's causing it.
It is a cleanser that is used to wash your face. So, just as I demonstrated in the video. You wet your face, apply a bit of the cleanser, and gently massage it all over the face for 30-60seconds, and then you rinse it off with lukewarm water. Or use it on dry skin, massage it for 30-60 seconds, and remove it with a soft cloth or cotton pads or soft tissue.

You forgot , you need to make sure your hands are clean as you may have also contributing more dirt on your face also you dont rub while rinsing you splash water on your face and you tap when using towel.
Yes, ensuring that your hands are clean is good advice. However, it's important to rub when rinsing to ensure proper removal. Additionally, using a washcloth can be helpful. Furthermore, gentle rubbing after cleansing is great for mild exfoliation. Tapping with the towel can also be effective if you washed your face properly enough in the first place.
I’m too scared to try this new formula after hearing all the bad reactions people are having to it , why dose it sort of foam up and turn white on your skin the old formula didn’t do this in your old video???
On reddit there are people saying they have been getting rashes redness and itchy someone said after a week of use they had itchy ears and also some are saying it has a very pungent smell like chemically
@@ingridsmith6120 I have also experienced redness after the first uses, but nothing major. Not sure what caused it, but after that, it was fine. But yes, it smells chemical, depending on your version, but that is normal if you use a chemical cleaner. So not sure what people expect. Some are angry if it contains fragrance; if the companies produce a version without, they say it smells chemical. 🤷♀
Well, technically, it contains Niacinamide, so it may help to improve it. But what is your skin condition oil, dry or normal? And do you have still active acne? 🤔
@@rickyzhang9991 No, because post-acne marks (red/brown spots) can be reduced. However, physical scars aren't that easy to treat with 'just' topical over the counter skincare products. In that case, it's best to see a dermatologist.
Yes, he is my brother. Just kidding! I don't think I am related to him, but I really should look into this since many people have asked me about it. Maybe he is after all. 🤔😉
