Avid Jeeper here.. I would even say that WAY less than 30% of all people who buy jeeps DO NOT actually really wheel. And for those people (less affectionately known as mall crawlers) the Rubicon is absolutely pointless - having front and rear lockers & swaybar disconnect when they might take their jeep on a basic fire trail to go camping maybe once a year… Most real off-roaders don’t buy a Rubicon‘s. They buy the cheapest base price Wrangler Sport knowing that they are going to replace the stock undercarriage and customize a new build with bigger tires, different gearing ratios, etc - which is what I did with my rig.. Sadly, people will pay the extra 7 or 8000 on the base price just for the name “Rubicon” on the sides of the hood. 🤷♂️
Let's be really real, after the 4 door was released, I bet it's under 5%. USA built it, the Germans couldn't destroy it, but now the Italians are doing a pretty good job at ruining it's good name. I'll stick with my 20 year old Tj, thanks. No a/c, no ABS, no electric windows, no CD player... No Problem! The real Jeeps were built to be the utilitarian work horses. You want comfort, get a Grand Cherokee. My, nearly 30 year old, Zj, is like a Cadillac compared to my Tj. $0.02.
@@ThSloth_InDaGetto serious question from a non jeep person. If someone is going to buy a jeep and replace the drive terrain with v8, Chevy axles and what not. Why not just buy the k5 or bronco?
@@mattballard6591, I believe you would have to be a jeep person to understand that. Just to be clear, I didn't and most Jeep owners, don't do any of that. Imo, the original Broncos were awesome. Although costly to get now. I started with an S10 blazer. Loved it, but most didn't survive the weak transmissions and rust. The full size SUVs, make better mud runners or expedition overlanders, than they do small trail rigs. There are places the Jeeps will fit, where the big trucks can't go. To own an old Jeep, you have to love the labor that goes into it too. I have had the privilege to drive many different types of vehicles, and there is nothing else like driving an open tub up a mountain. You should give it a try some time. You'll probably end up a Jeep person after all. Haha!
@@ThSloth_InDaGetto I hope not I already have a 89 Chevy truck that eats the hundos 😂! I can imagine a jeep would steal my heart if I got involved. Thank you sir for the response and happy jeepin!
he’s right, if any style of tire just gets all clogged up with slick mud by (going slow in 4low) 4hi and a lot of spinning helps the mud fly out of the treads which is more useful by the time the tread gets back to the ground.
Serious question here, I've never owned a four-wheel drive, before shifting from 4-wheel high or four wheel Auto or any of the other settings do you need to come to a stop or can you do this while moving?
Depends on the vehicle in a jeep jl or jt i have a jt i know you can do 4 hi while moving with your foot of the accelerator under i think 45 mph and 4 lo in neutral at 1 to 3 mph and tjs yjs and cjs you have to do at a complete stop i don't know about jks i think the same as a jl. Basically most new four wheel drive vehicles you can shift into 4 hi while moving at a reasonable speed say 35 and under but four low is usually always in neutral at a very slow speed no more then like 5mph
On a Toyota Tundra, there’s a dial to flick to switch from 2WD to 4H under 60 mph. To shift from 4H to 4L, you gotta shift to neutral and push the dial in before flicking the switch
I always put my car or truck into neutral before shifting from 2WD to 4WD anything not just low. It's a good idea to not have the car in park or in gear when changing how the tires grip because your gonna cause problems or it just won't let you. If forced you might hear some grinding noise... not good. Just my 2 cents for you guys 😀
My car is always in neutral when in complete stop anyways, or else it will stall if its in gear and I take my foot off the clutch pedal since it isn't a diesel.
Even if most jeeps aren’t used for off roading they are way more practical than any car in my opinion and the 4x4 and ground clearance is there for when needed
@@billytugwell48 I found to get into 4 wheel hi its best to be moving at atleast 10mph or more in drive off the gas, and 4 wheel low at around 3 to 5 mph in neutral.
As a traffic flagger 🦺 doing a job by a parking lot all trucks and SUV had to BRIEFLY drive on the sidewalk and over a SMALL curb to get out. The look on thier faces was funny for them doing this simple task in a $30k-$70k vehicles designed for off roading. 😁
@@SanctumOfDreams better believe we take pictures when we see a Jeep, always have a girl driving them. Gotta show love to the females, and Jeeps they drive. You know 98% of all jeeps made are still out there today, the other 2% made it back home.
On there he said that you know I'll feel or Wills will spend he said that before he said to put the differential Locker only two wheels spend when you're on four wheel drive that's what the lockers are for
So I have a 2024 Wrangler Sport 4xE is this the same process for mine, cause I can go into 4H and 4H part time fine but when I was just trying out the 4L I was told to put in N and switch down , and to get out I do the opposite
To a lot of people saying that, “let’s be real here, a lot of people that buy Jeeps don’t do serious off-road stuff” like man STFU. That’s like saying to another person why do they want to become a bodybuilder when you ain’t gonna use that body to lift heavy stuff in your everyday life and shows it off just for looks. Or why do people buy sports cars when they won’t even do drag and street races everyday and therefore not utilizing its potential as a sports car. Or why do people even buy fast foods to eat when they know themselves they are considered very unhealthy and literally will make them die earlier instead of eating home cooked foods sacrificing their health just for convenience? People can do whatever the hell they want in their lives. Whether they need it or want it. If they want a Jeep coz they like the way it looks, its fine. If they want it for the brand, its fine, if they simply want it because it is the only type of car that has removable doors and roofs, its fine. People be judging sh*t heavily nowadays that’s why this world is crumbling to pieces.
I feel like even mall crawlers should learn how to use their transfer case... in case they’re at their ski retreat and it gets a little slippery on the way to starbz
Future to be a jeep owner, most of jeep owners are just pretentious. But as a fossil hunter/paleontology hobbyist I might actually use the off road modes for my expeditions.
