How to use the Reef Lux 450 - Splatoon 3 Weapon Guide 

Would be cool to see Reef lux get a more offensive kit, I could actually see it do pretty well with Tacticooler as it dosen't stray too far away from the painting capabilities of the main weapon but gives a reason to play to the aggressive side aswell especially since you're already lightweight

As a reef-luxe main (I don’t spam though) This was really interesting! I’ll base my build off yours, with some main thermal ink+last ditch effort sprinkled in. The reef-luxe doesn’t often oneshot for me so it’s good to see where opponents have gone, or if they’ve been nicked but not splatted by the missiles.

Since I am still new to the game, this has helped me understand how to use the Reef-lux a bit more efficiently. As a wannabe casual competitive player, this helps to get a general direction for training with this weapon understanding of how to adjust for certain situations. I have personally come to the idea of a stealth jump, ink conservation, and movement build for how much I tend to stick as support. This also would potentially help with the curling bomb's ink consumption. Definitely will rewatch this later, and I hope to learn more!

The charge speed of the weapon makes the REEF-LUX a competitor to both the Squiffer and the Bamboozler -- quick charge times with short range. I'd say that it'd be pretty leveled version with a little less shot velocity against the two. Not only that, but the REEF-LUX's charged shots are easily considered lethal since hitting two arrows deal 90 damage to enemy players. This is useful since if they take a slight bit of damage, they're pretty much done for if you hit your shots right. There are only a few other situations where you'd be using your tap shots though. One of these is for (of course) inking turf since it's better at doing that than Aerospray and thus gives it an effective support role. You'd also want to save it for emergency situations, such as when an opponent's just all up in your face trying to splat you to the point where you don't have enough space to charge your shots. Though I mostly recommend doing the latter with vertical shots since the arrows will arc down quickly and deal extra damage. I myself am actually working on two different builds: One for SCU + Tenta Missiles (because I want to lol) and another that just fits my own play style. Staying in your base just to turf it all up like a limited-time stock AND to spam specials isn't going to get you anywhere. If you're gonna do that at least stack a lot of SCU on your gear. That way you can be a clown and lend a hand to your allies ahead in the firefight. In Anarchy Battle your gauge also auto-charges faster if you have the ability. I myself put Ninja Squid in build #2 to be sneaky sneaky

Fix missiles and all of the sudden people will see that the reeflux actually rocks. Such a fun slayer.

Great analysis, thanks for your time on this content! I am almost 5* for freshness with the Reef-Lux, and my experience has been similar - I love the fast, aggressive style, and have been feeling pretty solid with LDE, Ninja Squid, and Stealth Jump as my mains. Don't really care much for wasting mains or subs on Special Charge Up. I paint a lot anyway, so I get enough specials. Alternatively, I'll probably try Swim Speed, Object Shredder, and then maybe still LDE (getting some bonus curling bombs in tight matches is a big plus).

I'm really happy to see someone make a video about the reef-lux, that's not just missile spam. I've searched high and low for a video like this, but no cares enough about this weapon to actually go in depth with its play style. I played the reef lux day 1 and instantly fell in love with it, and I've always hated missile spam so I never played it that way. However pretty much everything in this video I've already figured out myself, other than certain weapon fights, and they're play style, and how to counter them. Still good video all around, and I'm glad to see more people are plying the reef lux.

Great video and I love reef Lux, it’s even more fun with a lot of sub saver with lets you throw two curling bombs at a time with a full tank. It’s pretty great

personal preference here, but I like ninja squid on reef-lux and dislike curling bombs. Ink problems never really apply for the reef-lux (unless you spam tons of curling bombs) so I wouldn't run sub saver unless you're keen on spamming them. Personally what I run is 1 main 4 sub swim speed 1 main 1 sub charge up (I don't really spam missles, but it at least lets you build them in base faster for a push) 1 main ninja squid 1 sub special saver 1 sub bomb defense (mainly for slosher deco and point sensors) 1 sub quick jump 1 sub ink resistance (optional but I think it's worth it so I run it) Also great video, though maybe try to articulate a bit more so it's easier to understand. I'm thankful you bought up weapon role because that is the number 1 most important thing people don't understand with this weapon. In most *balanced* comps you're going to be playing a skirmisher/support role, but depending on the comp you will have to play full on sweeper. Reef-lux changes so much on that.

I want to see a kit with tacticooler or killer wail! Both could be great but one is support and the other is for offense. Giving it a burst bomb or torpedo could also be really cool

Favoring the tri-stringer I haven't put much time into the reef but what time I have with it has been messing around with aggressive kits with mixed results since I find being a missile bot boring as all heck. As for curling bombs I find it shocking how uncommon it is to see people toss them up over ledges and mix in slightly cooked/charged ones as the change of their movement speed really seems to trip people up a lot. Granted I'm at the long time casual level of play so I can't speak for what it's like when playing at top level.

Bro missile spam doesn’t even bother me. I actually find killer wail to be much more annoying.

Would you say this is still a viable setup for the Reef even now? I can’t seem to find many recent videos that actually cover this weapon let alone a lot of other weapons for that matter and it is a bit frustrating.

I kinda want to start playing it cause it can’t missile spam anymore lol. I always feel gross playing degenerate playstyles so since this doesn’t have one anymore, I think it could be really fun
