Hey guys! Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com here with a beginner guitar lesson on how to use your tone and volume knobs to make sure you're getting the best possible sound. This is actually really simple and easy, but something that doesn't get a lot of attention for too many people. And like most things, this is so much about exploring sounds and using your ears.
A lot of people will just leave all their knobs cranked up to 10 primarily, but you can get much better tones by trying to use your ears and trying out the different tones you can get by actually turning your tone and volume knobs to different positions to see how it sounds.
Hope this helps you out!

Thanks for this lesson, Brad. I'm primarily an acoustic player and still trying to learn about tone on my electric. Very helpful. I liked the comment about "sounds like you're playing through the wall." 👍

With all due respect, I think you're a great guitarist and a wonderful instructor I know it's not the guitar and it's what you do with it but I'm surprised you're not playing a Gibson Les Paul instead of the Epiphone.

This guitar was the first electric that I bought for myself back in high school twenty years ago. I’ve actually put Gibson pickups in it since so now it sounds like one and it plays great. I’ve gotten a lot of miles out this wonderful guitar. I’m not much of one for the prestige of one brand or another, I think it had a lot more to do with your connection to the guitar. Which is probably why I play this Epi more than my Fender that cost 3x more.

@@SimpleGuitarDotCom Yes, that makes sense. You have a real organic, personal attachment to that guitar. You've know each other for 25 years. It's smart to start with one guitar and get to know it completely. It sounds like you've done that. As well as you know that guitar, why would you play anything else? 🙏

@@SimpleGuitarDotCom That's a great story and really illustrates your Love of that guitar. What type of guitar was it?

Lately, the camera angle on your videos isn't just right. It is too wide and there is a lot of visual distraction from the background. Further, you look a lot distorted (stretched out vertically) and so does your guitar. For this reason, I am not enjoying your recent videos as much as I did previously. Thanks, Brad.

You know what I’ll definitely take that into consideration. The way I’m doing it now has actually simplified my workflow and made it a lot easier for me to make videos, but I get where you’re coming from and will keep that in mind going forward. Thanks for speaking up!

@eashwar1231 LoL dude are you serious? I love the background. I wish I was there right now taking lessons from this guy. It looks like a fun place! I live in a small town and am SO glad Brad is taking the time out of his life and music school to run a FB page and give lessons on YT for free. (Thanks Brad!) Guess I don't see the problem with camera angles and all that. I don't mean this in any ugly way... Sorry you aren't enjoying the videos, but I definitely am! Go big Brad!
