Though I had to stay home all week, I got to watch a bunch of good movies I'd been wanting to get to for a long time. They say that you should exercise a few times a week, it's even more important to stick to a healthy diet, though. Thanks for the short and sweet lesson! (no 'though') :D

Great work! Just one suggestion. In the second example, break it up into two sentences. Insert a period after "week." Start a new sentence with "It's."

Good effort. I like the first example. The second needs to be separated into two sentences: They say that you should exercise a few times a week. It seems like you ignore that advice, though.

Thank you really much for clarifying this topic. Wonderful lesson. Though i had to stay home all week, i didn't get too bored. They say you should exercise a few times a week, most people would surrender doing it though. Do these sentences sound natural?

Thanks! 😃 Good practice. My suggestions: Though I had to stay home all week, I didn't get too bored. (Very logical. Note the capital "I.") They say you should exercise a few times a week. Most people don't do this, though. OR Most people would rather do something else, though. ("Surrender" doesn't fit so well here.)

Though I had to stay home all week, my aunt her and children came to visit me from Chicago to Los Angeles (L.A) My aunt and her children came to visit me from Chicago to Los Angeles (L.A) , but I had to stay home all week. Answer 2. 2. They say you should exercise a few times a week, I would say that you should exercise everyday in order to lose weight faster, though (Spoken English) They say you should exercise a few times a week, however I would say that you should exercise everyday in order to lose weight faster (Written English)

I'm happy you're practicing with me, Camilo. Here are my suggestions: (Think about what is more surprising.) 1. Though I had to stay home all week, my aunt her and children came to visit me from Chicago, so I wasn't bored. I had to stay home all week, but my aunt and her children came to visit me from Chicago, so I wasn't bored. (Look at the punctuation with "however.") 2. They say you should exercise a few times a week. I would say that you should exercise every day in order to lose weight faster, though. They say you should exercise a few times a week. However, I would say that you should exercise every day in order to lose weight faster.

Hello mam, Though and however both are used for contrast . but I don't know about the punctuation of them . as we place two commas if however comes in the middle of sentence like this , however, May we do the same with though. While I was reading news paper, I find this sentence in which though is used without commas. Ex. The trouble with harbouring excessive hope with two diplomats though is that the process of their clearance by the senate could stretch by September
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 2 года назад
Yes, "though" can be used in the middle of the sentence. I recommend commas. Click through examples here on YouGlish. youglish.com/pronounce/though/english/all/cptc=1 You'll see uses of "even though," but focus on "though" when it functions more like "however." In nearly all of the captions, commas are used to separate it. It seems to be the preferred pattern.

It's good that we can use synonyms to stop our writing being filled with "though." Though I had to stay home all week, I was still content. They say you should exercise a few times a week, though that is easier said than done.
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 3 года назад
Good job! I'm glad you recognize the tools we have to avoid repetition. :) Thanks for doing the task. Here's a variation of your second sentence. a) They say you should exercise a few times a week, though that is easier said than done. b) They say you should exercise a few times a week. That's easier said than done, though. (spoken)

@@Englishwithjennifer Yes, the difference between spoken English and written English is an interesting topic in itself. "Whereas"is another one I could try and add to my writing more often. "Ted did not like dogs; whereas, Mary loved them. Will Ted's lack of concern for canines prove decisive in his quest to win back Mary?"

Good mornig , Mam! Is it compulsory to use comme before and after however when it comes in the middle of sentence? If this is true could you explain the reason?
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 2 года назад
"However" is a conjunctive adverb. You're connecting two complete ideas together, but you're expressing a contrast. Coordinating conjunctions like "but" only need a comma. A conjunctive adverb can start a new sentence, appear in the middle or end of a sentence (with the help of a comma), or it can join the second sentence to the first with the help of a semicolon and comma. Vowels are voiced sounds in words that we make without stopping the flow of air as it comes out of our mouth. In contrast, consonants require us to obstruct the airflow different ways. ru-vid.com/group/PL4B28722936C871E8 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_uj-JQk0LE4.html
