I love the way it disperses when adding water its like a raindrop. Looks like the piece is raining with explosive colours. Oh by the way. I really love this video thank you so much I appreciate this so much please marry me 😂 I'm only interested in mutual relationship, and that's watching your videos till the day I die, nothing more nothing less.. Well maybe a kiss on the cheek.. Nothing more. I'm alone my entire life, please ignore me 😫😞😢. I just want to be with someone, I guess the time will come.. I not am not interested in S%&.
Kirsty Partridge Art I love the unpredictability. There's something so magical about having an idea, and it coming out better than I could've ever imagined.
Kirsty Partridge Art My favourite thing about watercolours is how beautifully the colours mend together like fireworks in a night sky! That’s just what I think, kinda weird but, eh?
In 18 minutes, you covered more techniques and advice then 12 hours of a watercolour course! Multiple mediums, multiple effects, all in one cohesive video. I needed this! Thank you!
My grandma loved painting, especially watercolour. Recently she died, and left all of her craft stuff to me. I last painted 17 years ago, so just trying to remember what I'm doing!
I'm an art teacher and you are my spirit animal. I don't know where you learnt how to use materials (I'm largely self taught regarding most colour media), but somehow you tend to give exactly the same info and advice as I do, which makes your videos brilliant to show my pupils! Thank you so much!
I don’t understand why people have given this a thumbs down, what a clear, brilliant concise no waffle and informative video, by a fantastic artist!!. Thank you I have just subscribed!
What's wrong with the 6 people who disliked your video, 🤔 your videos are brilliant they are so full of information and great tips, keep up the great work that you do Kirsty 😘
I never understand comments like this! It's great that everybody doesn't like the same thing otherwise we'd all still be stuck chalking on cave walls. It has nothing to do with the quality of video it's just their personal preference.
Donna Walter ...sometimes, people will dislike a video because they can’t stand the person’s voice or perhaps the person is talking too fast for them. Or maybe some of the information is wrong. Some people are sensitive about music in the background . We can’t know why. But don’t be upset when someone doesn’t agree with your opinions or feelings.
I was hating watercolors cuz there was looking hard for me but I love the effect of them in the art and now I love them alllllll cuz I knew the thechniques from this sweet vedio ♥
Kristy, I can’t tell you how much you have helped me get involved with art. I started out so green, but with your help and lots of practice, I was able to excel my drawing and confidence in a short while. I started with the basics of graphite and charcoal and now have moved to watercolors. I tried color pencils, but found difficulties with finding the right type of media for them. Watercolor is where I want to be first because the ultimate goal is to get to oils. Thank you so much for all these videos, you not only make it fun to learn, but your positive and confidence building attitude is always wonderful to hear. Keep making the world a better place. Kevin
Supplies needed for Watercolouring: *M* *o* *n* *e* *y* Edit: Wowie, a ton of you are really helpful in the replies down here. Edit number two: Oh gee, don't argue please.
TheIllumaniti'sPixelated SideKickAnimates Not necessarily. They’re some really good quality stuff on Aliexpress, I recommend the Meiliang 36 pan watercolours. I get my brushes and sketchbooks on there too, just remember to read the reviews. I got all my stuff for £50.
All I ever use is a Koh-I-nor round stacking watercolour set and pentel Aquash pens (say $15 max). The paper can be expensive, but depending on what I'm doing, I find computer paper works okay so long as you keep the colour very saturated.
I will be using water color for the first time since childhood. Painting in general scare me. I feel I have less control. This video really helped eased my mind.
Complementary colours are great to use together in the same area in my opinion! You can create really deep neutral greys and browns which are perfect substitutes for harsh black when doing shadows etc...
I was always told to stay away from water colors as they are the most unforgiving medium. However after watching this simple tutorial I feel like if I can draw, which I can, I can paint with water colors! There are so many things you can do thank you so much I'm so excited to start this journey
This is really useful; I don't paint standalone pictures but I do create art and junk journals. I also use paint in my handmade planners, as well as other doodles and ephemera. Thanks for putting all of this video together. Joie de fi ❣️😁👍
just a quick tip: if you want to paint realistic with a photo reference, just pin the photo over your paper and draw the outlines. You will see the outlines on the paper you're painting on, but once the paint is on you can't see it anymore. This is a great technique for beginners who don't want to draw the thing and just want to paint. It really helps me a lot.
I just found your channel and I've only watched a few of your videos so far and I'm so inspired by you. I'm a very young artist hoping one day to have a career in art, and you are such an amazing artist, and you are so so so inspiring and I aspire to be like you one day. ❤❤
I learned from DrawingWiffWaffles that you can roll the kneaded eraser into a sausage shape and roll it over the pencil sketch to pick up excess graphite quickly without having to drag it (while preserving the important bits). It’s very helpful for an impatient person like myself that wats to sketch it out and start coloring. Thank you for this brief and helpful tutorial!
Just one bit of information at 14:14 - using complementary colors together is actually a good way to make shadows, or areas with less intensity. It's best to pre-mix them on your palette, so you don't have the same grayish-brown, but using complimentary colors in the same area isn't something that's wrong. It can be a stylized addition to your piece, or used to dilute color and make it less intense, or desaturated. It's sometimes interesting to use in the form of a glaze, once the first layer has dried up. Just my two cents on it, but saying that "you don't want to do this" is not the best bit of information since I've seen many people use this as a technique for their 2-4 color pieces.
I just love the way you combine media....for some reason i always think if i get out pastels i should just use pastel....its the way i was taught but the idea of pastel and color pencil and ink and watercolor on one page is making my heart happy!
Best trick I've heard: make multiple little sketches to compose, sketch fast and simple for your final work - you can mess it up, you will be prepared and not discouraged to draw it again.
Thats a great idea....but i cannot bring myself to practice on the gooood paper....its so nice! But i must or i will never understand what it can do.....courage required
@@stephw1363 I feel that pain!! Think of it that way: prepare the composition on lesser paper, try colours on a good papers you grid and duplicate the chosen composition as a sketch, that way you get multiple attempt on the same page, less waste! Ultimately go for the real deal on the most sacred good paper 😎
I learned a TON from this video. This is fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing all the different tips and techniques. I've always been annoyed by watercolours because they don't stay in the lines, but you are so outside the box with other mediums and all these techniques, it's like you just opened the window and let fresh air into my brain. It's OKAY to go outside the lines. I have to remember that! Just wonderful. I love your style of presenting all this information, too. Your videos are always so helpful and entertaining and full of eye candy of your artwork. I just love this channel. Thank you!
Wow thank you so much! Thank you for always supporting the channel, I love reading your comments! I’m glad you learnt a lot from the video, this video definitely took the longest to make so I am glad people are finding it helpful! Good luck with you watercolour paintings! 💕
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever watched on watercolours, honestly! And I've seen so many. Clear, to the point, extra tips, visual examples, covers materials and other possibilities, it's all in there. Combined with your beautiful artstyle, I can only say that I'm very hyped to do more watercolour art now after seeing this. Thank you!!
Hack: some water bottles have ridges at the bottom if you empty and cut it, and use it as a watercolor cup the texture at the bottom, really help thoroughly clean the brush💜
Please do a tutorial for how to draw realistic face in different angles🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏of course not all in a video..But when you can do this please because you are my fav artist to learn new things😊😘 Sorry for my bad English lol
The salt effect really is something ive never seen before and is super cool! So is the cling film. I love how the salt gives a snowy effect and the cling gives like a leavy, veined effect. So cool! Thank you 😊
I discovered your channel yesterday and since them I watched a lot of your videos and I am totally amazed with your wonderful artworks and videos. Thank you!
One special tip that I use in general: Always keep a CLEAN paper towel by you so when you accidentally put too much water (me always) you can just pick it up, or if when you are watercoloring anything and the watercolor has too much pigment in that area you can pick it up with that paper towel! Edit: Oh and make sure to *sub* to her!!
In art school I didn’t learn a whole lot about watercolor use. (Partly because I was in a graphic design course, so most of the work I did was on the computer, but also because I was unable to finish the course and get my degree.). Thank you for posting this. It is very helpful to me.
I honestly learned so much from this video. I watched an hour and a half long video on the subject right before this and didn't learn 10% of what I learned here. Thank you!
I'm watching this right before I finally paint with my winsor and newton watercolor pans (that ive had for a while but never used LOL) and a new brush I got in the mail today! (Its a silver brush limited for those wondering)
I love your art and demos. You are my favorite. I love the colors, unpredictability, imagination and a relaxed feeling while I’m doing it. I also feel some pride when I’m done. I would like to see one thing if possible, that’s a finished painting in the demo. Keep giving us your talent please. I appreciate all you do. Happy days to you and yours.
That was an outstanding video! You taught me so much! I want to get watercolors to create my own colors, and make backgrounds for my cards. I am in awe of you! I have absolutely no idea how you know what colors to use, where to paint, and where to shade. I can't figure out shading at all! 🤦♀️ You're work and ability to teach, blows me away! I'm going to go watch your other videos! 🤩
Thank you sooo so much for making this video ,all the things are so helpful and great .I am a beginner and and all of these tips and tricks were so helpful Again thanks aton ❤
omg this was a great video! My sister an I are binge watching your channel to learn all about water colour and techniques. Is there another video where you talk about the Lip painting in detail maybe ?
Wow thank you for explaining in so much detail! This was really helpful since I've recently started my art channel and have been experimenting. I've got a question about using fineliners and gelly roll gel pens. Mine tend to get clogged when I use them over watercolours. Does it happen to you too? And what can be done to prevent the tip from clogging? I don't wanna ruin my pens!
My favourite thing to do with watercolour is put up away‼️😩 I’m SO BAD! To be fair, I don’t really give it a chance, because I know how rubbish it’s gonna look lol. Really love your PIG ❤️🐷 Great video Kirsty.......lots of great advice 👍👍👍 you inspire me to keep trying x
I was SO BAD when I first started with watercolours, I didn’t know where I was going with it, it always looked weird and I just couldn’t control it. I thought it was like the hardest medium ever, but nowadays it’s my favourite. If you like it keep trying! It takes time for you to understand how it works because it’s so different from other mediums, but it gets easier :)
your demos on the gouache were the first I've seen; most videos I've watched use it after the paint has dried - thank you for your video and for these tips!
Omg thank you so much! Finally I find a beginners guide to water coloring! And actually giving the brand, and how it is instead of just saying how to do the strokes and etc!
i always had a fascination with water colours but was very shy to use it due to lack of knowledge but now that i watched this video, it was so easy to understand and fun to watch! i cant wait to start doing water colour art! thank you so much!
