Aperture and shutter speed shouldn't be set to the lowest possible as you say in the video. Aperture affects your depth of field, so in most cases it may be wrong to leave it at the lowest f stop, not to say that generally, lenses are not their sharpest at the lowest aperture. And shutter speed should be set, according to the 180 degree rule, to double your frame rate. 1/60 if you're using a 30fps setting.
Quick question... when shooting indoors with natural light or studio lighting what should the iso, aperture and shutter speed be on average. I've never owned a more advanced camera and I have no clue how to gauge my settings. Thanks!
i need help while i zoom in and out with my lens i notice the birghtness flickers on my t2i. is it the lens or a setting i can fix it with it is on manual too also. the lens is 18-55mm
I have my T2i for more than 6-5 years and never really understood how the Shutter, Aperture and ISO work on Video, even though I'd thought that my camera was in manual mode for all this time. But never really tried or tweak these three settings to get the desired effect. Love this video. I can now use my camera with nifty fifty to get amazing bokeh effect videos and some more.
@MediaUnlocked Thanks for responding. I subbed cause of that. Now is there anyway to stop it or something? Liek i tried locking the f-stop. still happens though. This happens when im shooting film. Also what is the best why to upload footage from the sd card. through camera or sd card reader?
@AreWeFamousNow thanks for subbing man. I have an sd card reader and I drag the files from the card onto a folder on my desktop. You can also use apature if you have it.As you zoom out the apature will get smaller as you zoom in it will get bigger. The lens is a 3.5-5.6 so the lowest is 3.5 at it wides focusing length. It hard to explain in a message I will be on skype tomorrow night after 9:30 pm if you want me to explain it more hope this helps
@archp2008 Check out my video called WHAT EACH FUNCTION OF THE CANON T2I OR 550D DOES AND HOW TO USE THEM PART 2 I believe I explain custom white balance in this video. What lens are you using if you are not using a lens with an apature 2.8 or lower its going to be hard to shoot nice pics of hockey. Do you have an external flash.
This was PERFECT! I purchased the t31 rebel last week and I STILL don't know how to use it, although anxious! I'll give it another shot before I return it (hope it get it after this video) so thanks again!
Your camera appears to be set to the PAL settings. which means it will probably have the 25fps and 50fps. It mostly depends on where you live in the world. However, if you live in the US, you probably do want to adjust that. Check out: /watch?v=VUuVbZOYxBk
for sure reason just don't have that film look like I see other video clips on utube. The best way I can describe it is the film look have a certain speed to it and video tin to have a fast look speed??
@XEJ21 You should be using a class 8 or higher. Try Transcend sd cards they are good make sure you get a class 10 if you buy one. Sandisk is good as well as long as it is a class 8 it will work fine.
@AreWeFamousNow You do know that as you zoom in and out your f-stop is changing if you have the f-stop set a 3.5 at 18mm causing your lighting to be brighter and darker as you zoom in and out.
Yes that is the normal size. What size is your card you should get a bigger one therefore you can shoot in higher resolution. Your, video quality will be much better. I hope this helps
@NiallHornProductions To drop the apature you will need to hold down the AV button located on the upper right of the lcd screen and then use your dial at the front right of the camera
@RolfParkerHoughton Yes it does. If you type your question into google there is a lot info on the t2i and progressive shooting It might answer your question in more depth
@4givenz What kind of card are you using and what is the speed. The camera does that due to the fact that more information is being put on the card then it can handel.
@zAtt1337 I am guessing you live out side of the US I did not know that the camera would only shoot 50fps I will look into it but I think there is nothing you can do for it
please show me how to get that film look while shooting with the T2I what settings do u use I would be will to pay you for a telephone consultation. thanks
I keep the shutter at 30 unless I am doing slow motion the I put it at 120 or higher i try to keep iso as low as possible then I set my f-stop to what I need
Install Quicktime, MOV is an Apple format and while some players will play the files on your computer, for proper use in your editing software, your computer will need some media codecs that will be installed along with Quicktime.
I shoot videos in 50fps but I can't scroll the shutter speed down to 1/50. What shall I do?? Isn't that setting the best for low light shootings to avoid noise?
@themacbookone Imagine aperature is size of your eye. If you open your eye bigger you will see more light..open your eye smaller you'll see less light. Lower number more light (3.5) higher number (22) less light. Your shutter speed is how fast you blink your eye. The faster you blink, the less light you will let in. The slower you blink, the more light you let in. Stick a one on top of the number and that is how much of a second it takes to close your eye.
Lastly, ISO is film speed. Just remember when you bought film for your old cameras. 100 was for outdoor but to shoot indoor you needed 400 or 800 but the higher you got, the more pixelated it got. Since digital, no need for film. So imagine the cameras sensor is the film. 100 still for outdoors and sunny days, but if you are in the dark, you need to bump it up to 1600 or 3200.
Hey on the camera there is a flash button you showed before in a tutorial..then under it is a button to release the lens..but whats the little button under that for? In video mode can you move your ..hmm..what is that called you have the -2 to +2. I notice in movie mode this changes by itself. Is this normal? Can you make that manual too?
@MediaUnlocked Yeah, I know that feeling...New to Lightroom myself and it takes awhile to get familiar with. I use Sony Vegas 10 for my videos...don't own a Mac or I would use Final Cut Pro. Just got done watching all your video's.....enjoyed the "on location" vid...nice stuff and the model...well lets just say I had to rewind a couple of times....lol
I get that too. its the card buffering (or something). when you start recording, shake the camera around so theres lots of movment. it should stop recording like it has been, but if you record again it should be perfectly fine even with lots of movement :)
Awesome Video! I just shot a snowboard/ski edit last night and wish I would have seen this prior to it! Why would you want to shoot at 24fps rather than 50 or 60fps? On my fisheye lens it only went to 50fps? Is it b/c its a fisheye lens? Thanks! - Jburg
In closing. Depending on the situation you will move those around and make them even each other out. If you want to shoot something fast. You need a fast shutter speed..something dark...a higher ISO and a big opened eye (aperature)
@quiles26 You cant record in slow motion but you can record in 60 frames per second which means when you edit the footage and drop it down to 24fps the slow motion is much smoother and looks nice. Let me know if this helps
please help me! i have the canon EOS 550D with an 8g SanDisk Ultra SD card and my camera stops recording after 15 seconds even after i have changed metering time to 10 mins in the menu, if you get back to me id be so gratefull
@WestCoastMods No I use apature 3 and CS5 I do have lightroom just have not gotten around to teaching myself out to use but from videos I have seen it being used it looks pretty powerful.
Which button are you pressing to record? are you pressing the "Shutter" button that's on top of your camera? or are you pressing the button that's above the "AV" button and has a camera icon on it with a red dot next to it? Because you need to press the button that's above the "AV" button with the camera icon. If you press the shutter button even while it's on video mode it'll still capture a still image.
very clear tutorial, 2 questions please: 1-if its in manual mode-how do i focus? in auto i can push the button down half way to focus, in manual it doesn't do it on it's own and it won't let me focus it manual, what am i missing? 2-would you know why when i played back a video i took i had lines going across it kinda like old tv sets? not that heavy and it came and went but it's never happened before. thanks for any info!
