This Ecuador Palora Dragon Fruit V-Cut was grafted 77 days ago and has been making a significant amount of growth! Check out how big it grew from a tiny piece of thorn that I used from a store bought Ecuador Palora Dragon Fruit that still had a viable stem on it. You can achieve to grow the identical fruit through using this method of grafting!

Thanks for all the ABC’s of dragon fruit planting. I owned a dragon fruit tree for years with good fruits but not a lot in one time. I am morecknowledgeable now through your vlogs. I will improve my trellis, pruning and fertilizing.

Will you plant the root stock with the growing graft or cut the new graft shoot and plant that alone?
@kevinkc3onohelijeepworld953

? Richard I have a mom white variety plant I ve take two cuts from. Have you ever had growth from a node that formally was stem cut location ?? The mom was stunted by root rot and there is already one tiny spike growing and it’s been slow but now I see another spike growing. I though once you cut from a node it’s done but I guess maybe that was a dual node location ?? Weird 😊

As you probably know, the real reason cutting off the other nodes makes one branch grow has to do with auxins (growth regulating hormones) produced in the buds and shoots of the plant. But if you prefer to think of it as the flow of energy through the stem, that’s sort of true, too.

Hello Richard that was amazing, I have a question about the yellow varieties, How is the peruvian yellow dragon fruit that you grafted some time ago? and How is different the Peruvian Variety from the varieties of Ecuador and Colombia?
@GraftingDragonFruit
@GraftingDragonFruit 4 года назад
The Peruvian yellow df is growing very big now since I graft it! I will do an update video on that one for you so you can see how much it has grown. The Peruvian is like the Ecuador but it’s just more oblong instead of round. Similar flavor and sweetness. The only difference is shape wise.

Hi Richard! Thanks for all your useful information on dragon fruit. This may seem a silly question but is it possible to grow several diffrent varieties on a single root stock? Thanks
@maruhonda8395
@maruhonda8395 3 года назад
Yes, possible but remember each variety will be competing for nutrients from that root stock

If the graft fails, can you reopen one of the places where you have cut the thorns off? Meaning, can you skin off the hard area at one of the V spots and try attach a new shoot onto?
@GraftingDragonFruit
@GraftingDragonFruit 4 года назад
Yes, you can reopen the same area to use as a graft area again. It’s possible to do!

Is there a reason to graft them? I thought dragon fruit grew easily from cuttings
@GraftingDragonFruit
@GraftingDragonFruit 4 года назад
Grafting is helpful for when a variety is scarce and you can’t get it unless you find the fruit at a market. Then grafting allows you to salvage those stems and get that clone of the fruit.
