There are different types of wall mounts that offer varying motion options for your TV. Depending on the placement of the TV you may choose to have a flat mount a tilting mount or an articulation or cantilever mount. Each mount has specific benefits as listed below:
1. Flat/Fixed
This type of mount will keep the TV snug against the wall which allows for a clean look from the side of the TV. You will see no wires from the side view and the TV will remain in a fixed position as close to the wall as possible
2. Flat/Tilt
This type of mount will keep the TV close to the wall but allow for up to a 15 degree tilt. This is a great benefit when the TV is to be mounted higher on the wall such as in the case of mounting above a fireplace. The user can tilt the TV down in order to reduce glare or to make the TV easier to see from seating below.
3. Swing Arms
This type of mount will hold the TV off the wall in an increased distance from that of the flat or tilt mount. This mount will allow the user to swivel or pan the TV from side to side in order to increase the viewing angle of the TV. This is a beneficial option in a large room that has more than one group of seating that may be utilized in watching the TV
4. Articulating/Cantilever
Like the swing arm this type of mount will typically protrude a few inches off the wall. The ability to pull out and pan the TV up to 180 degrees allows the TV to be viewed from 2 different adjoining rooms. Another use for this type of arm would be when installing the TV in an armoire or entertainment cabinet the user could hide the TV inside when not in use and simply pull it out when its time to watch TV.

@Samestori214
@Samestori214 4 года назад
@@arsengames... Yes true that the drywall does fail in some cases. But the engineering of the plate on the wall with the zip fasteners 2@100lbs and he found the studs on the other side so each bolt will not be holding the full weight of the TV. And the zip fasteners are rated with a lower weight so that if we use them we shouldn't get close to there failing point. Or putting as much stress on the drywall in one place so It can rip.
@arsengames
@arsengames 4 года назад
His Image 1/4 toggle bolts are rated to hold up to 265 pounds in a 1/2 sheetrock if I remember correctly. But a good rule of thumb is to divide whatever number by 4. So yeah, around 65-85lb.

Can I just hire someone to do this. The more videos I watch the more confused I get Edit: Recently got a notification about this thread. Crazy to think that I posted this 4-5 years ago when I was still in HS. To the racist waste of space who replied... I'm not from Mexico idiot and being told to go back to Mexico isn't an insult. I've met amazing Mexicans over the years and I'll make sure to visit one of their beautiful resorts post covid. You, on the other hand, should invest in a globe. To all the others in the comments who were rude... take a chill pill. I was a 17 year old girl who purchased a small smart tv after getting her first job. I didn't want to ruin my parents walls. To all those that replied to let me know that yes, this is a service I could pay a nice hard working person.. thanks!! Ironically, four years later I got my degree in engineering and I work with machinery all day now. So a few holes on the wall don't scare me anymore.

I like your video. Very informative. You make it easy. I am looking to hang two 32 inch Vizio LCDs, side by side. Where can I find a single mount for dual tv's or should I use two wall mounts? What type of fasteners did you use and where could get them?
@abtelectronics
@abtelectronics 7 лет назад
You can use either two mounts or a single dual-mount. The advantage of two separate mounts will be the choices you'll have, because there aren't a lot of dual-display mounts on the market and they're usually intended for computer monitors (so 32" TVs might be too large for them). You'll probably pay less for a pair of single mounts than a single, specialized dual mount. The disadvantage of using two wall mounts is making sure they're perfectly aligned so your monitors aren't crooked next to eachother. The fasteners we used are called Snaptoggle anchors. You need them when you're fastening to just drywall or to a steel stud (not when you hit a wooden stud) and you can find them at Home Depot or most any hardware store.

@5280Fix 2 года назад
1: Since he used the dry wall anchors, definitely he didn't mount to the studs. For heavy TV's, I rather mount to the studs. While drilling right side holes, yes, he did encounter stud but the video did not show difficulties of trying to mount the wall anchors (once inserted, needs to form T in the back). 2: For most homes, electrical lines run horizontally about a foot from the floor and code says you need to put metal plate on the studs so we don't accidently drill or hammer a nail thru it.

+Abt I know just where I want to wall mount my TV and I see you have done yours on drywall, my desired wall is a brick one. Will this make the fix to the wall sturdier or will it just not be right.
@hamiltontechsource3217
@hamiltontechsource3217 7 лет назад
Yes if you install in brick it will be very solid. Most TV mounting brackets include plastic anchors designed for brick/concrete. Use the proper drill bit (mortar bit) and hammer drill for best results. Chose a drill bit that is the same diameter as the plastic anchor. Once you have drilled your hole, insert the plastic anchor, then use the included lag bolts.

Is this TV wireless? The hardest part of mounting a TV is routing the cords so they are invisible. Would like to see that in addition to the basic install info shown here.

+Snipely The TV is not wireless, the wires will be tucked into the wall. Thanks for the suggestion on hiding the wires, I'll pass it onto our video production team and if possible, we may make a video detailing that.
@embrj1453

+Snipely Actually that's the easiest part, two holes, one at the top , one at the bottom, fish the cables trough with a snake wire or something like that, unless you're doing in on a outside wall, too tight...

Just so you guys know, he did use the studs, only these aren't wood studs, they are metal studs. Metal studs are hollow, that's why if you watch the video, when he is drilling the pilot holes there is some resistance for a second or two and then the drill gets through the stud. He is then installing the fasteners into the hollow steel stud. Nothing wrong with this method, unless maybe you are installing an 8 year old plasma TV or something very heavy.

I'm a bit confused, aren't you supposed to drill screws into the studs? If he used fasteners, why did he have to locate studs if the fasteners just latch on behind the wall? or they are latching onto the metal stud?

Cos he didn't drill level to the holes. Using a step ladder would have made this easier as he was clearly struggling on the right hand side.

@deasttn
@deasttn 7 лет назад
They are metal studs. Definitely looks like hole 3 & 4 had some resistance when he drilled. 4 of those toggle fasteners are plenty strong enough to hold that sized TV to the wall (even without hitting a stud).

ok, no disrespect for what this guy did, but always mount your $4000 tv on solid studs with long thick ass fasteners, do NEVER hang a tv on drywall, no matter how good you think your anchors are. don't fall for marketing bullshit. Especially if you have kids or crazy teens at home.

Snap toggle bolts are amazing. Never ever had a problem with them and they are strong as fuck. Sometimes you have no choice but to go into dry wall and that's what the are for and will hold a ton. My question is he used a stud finder which leads me to believe that's what he mounted to, so why use the toggle bolts?
@KaliBlaz
@KaliBlaz 10 лет назад
einsp227 he used a stud finder to avoid the studs not to mount on them.
@einsp227
@einsp227 10 лет назад
Then there's no need to mark the center of the stud as he did after finding both edges, he could have just marked the edges and got the same result.
