A colleague of mine has a black Mercedes and he keeps it immaculate, it´s always clean even through the winter, when I bought my car I had ordered a smoke silver colour but whilst waiting to take delivery he convinced me to change my order to black which I did, I´m glad I did as you say nothing looks better than gleaming black paintwork, my car is now 7 years old and still looks perfect, It´s only ever washed by hand, it takes a great deal of work to keep it looking good but the satisfaction of standing back and admiring that gleaming perfect paintwork makes it all worthwhile, only buy a black car if you enjoy cleaning it.
Just got my first black car, this video will help me when I finally get the courage to wash it myself. I’ve been going through the touch less car washes and today it failed me! I left with grim still on my car! Thank you for your wonderful video 👍🏻
I've been waiting for my local Hyundai dealer to get a Sonata Hybrid in stock. They finally have one on order and I'm on the list. It could have been any color... but its black. The one color I didn't want, mainly for the pain it is to keep clean and to keep from having swirl marks. This video makes me a little more confident it won't be impossible to take care of.

Good video, I would add that using a filter on your final water rinse also aids with preventing water spots, then a rinse aid to finish. Never ever use a chamois!!
I have the same exact car! Lol and I agree, I would never take my car to a car wash! They mess up ur paint job. I'm selling mine though cuz I just bought an R3 . It's beautiful
Nice, you did well to get an R3, there just aren't that many around. I believe less than a 1000 R3s were delivered into the USA, which makes them pretty rare.
Forget black you drive it once and its ready for a clean. Yes it looks great when clean but 90 percent of time its gone be a hate relationship with the dirt and touchyness. It looks perfect on camera but i bet if you look for the imperfections you will find them depending on your view angle and the way light hits the car but overall you have to look for em so not so bad but black makes it stand out the most.
When I first got my RX8 I did a 3 step polish of the car. It literally took a day and a half to do but the finished result was magnificent. I understand what you're saying, black is high maintenance no doubt but no colour can match how good it looks IMHO :)
I don't have a foam machine or pressure. I use the garden water pump to remove all the dirt then I start hand cleaning with car soap and very very gently is it okay? Or you don't recommend that
I would say it's more risky cause dirt and contaminants arent broken down as much as they are using a foam gun/cannon, causing very possible scratches from dirt and debri being pushed around on the car as you hand wash it. You can buy one that connects to your garden hose, although not as foamy, still more effective than just rinsing with a hose.
The foam softens the dirt and allows a lot of surface dirt to be rinsed away. It just reduces the risk of swirl marks because by the time you start wiping the cart with your wash mit, most of the dirt has already been removed.
I took my Alfa to a car wash, what a horrible experience, they used the same cloth for the body and the rims and did them at the same time so no cleaning of the cloth😭 drying was even worse dint know what they used but it was dark brown and torn to pieces, never again
Many years ago I had a friend who's father owned a Ferrari. I came around to visit one day and I kid you not, his Dad was washing the Ferrari with a broom! 🤦♂️
It's basically the same has washing any other colors. I have a black Kia Cerato.. looks mint Just hose the car down. Clean with car wash. Hose soap off as you move about. Then chamios ,to finish the job !!!! Walla. Job is done. Car polish,. is very hard to find one that doesn't leave marks. So now. I just wash and Dry it off . Works all the time 🤔🤔😉😉
Not really circles more or less across ways with the occasional swirl, as long as after you go in circles if you go over it again across ways like he did you’re fine
Didn't know you could drive far enough to get the car dirty with a rotary. Would have figured an apex seal would get chewed up before any dust could settle 😂
Hey Twobarpsi, barp barp! I haven't used a traditional chamois for years. Microfiber is just really soft and does a great job. You could test by trying both on adjacent panels but I suspect microfiber would be the best.
Hi A14LNC, you can do it that way but it would require using a third "wheels only" wash bucket, to prevent possible contamination of your wash bucket with brake dust. Inevitably, your wash water is going to get filthy, particularly if you use a wheel brush.
Hey Erick, on the inside of the windows I use a dedicated window cleaner spray and a really fine microfiber. It's actually a good point, you can spend all this time getting the outside spotless and leave a big greasy hand print on the inside of the window which completely spoils the finish.
Hi John, this one amzn.to/2xrvMul is pretty close to the one I'm using in the video. The important thing is to make sure the fitting on the foam lance matches the one on your pressure washer.
That's a good point Muhammad, if you can avoid direct sunlight do so, it certainly avoids the potential for any water spots drying on your paint. Of course if you're filming the process like me, then you want all the light you can get 👍.
