For an airdate watch order: bit.ly/watchdcau UPDATE: Justice League Infinity - Takes place before “Justice League vs the Fatal Five” P.S. I have no idea what happened at 25:36 but I can’t get it to not export like that so have fun (Also, yes, “Justice League” is supposed to be in white font, not yellow)
I like getting some precontext to the stuff I watch. Someone else has connected the dots for me and it helps me find new stuff to kill some free time with. Im probably gonna re-watch brave and the bold/watch it linearly for the first time. Sometimes I try not to watch every show. I rather be on RU-vid and learn about other shows so when I'm truly bored I can pick a random show to watch. So I really appreciate this channel doing what it does. Have a nice day 💫🤘
Thank god the creative team realized that a teen _batman_ doesn't mean teen Bruce Wayne, and thus we got Terry, can't imagine how bad it would have flopped
even though I love batman beyond It was wasted potential not to have clark hang up the mantel of superman and have conner become the superman of batman beyond. It would have been amazing to see him and terry fight together
@Shawn Lamb I mean that's that's completely different situation Teen titans had been off the air for nearly a decade and resurrecting a show after that long that feels the same is nearly impossible
@@conradlorgar5508 I think so but even if he wasn't it wouldn't really matter as in batman beyond we've seen tons of characters that were never in any other show
Before the term "DC Animated Universe" got popular, I remember comics and products of the time would classifying the shows as either the "Timmverse" as "DC Adventures". If we had to divorce ourselves from 'Animated Universe', personally I'd pick 'Adventures'.
The DCAU was my MCU back in the day, every new show or movie I'd gather up all my friends and we'd watch it and run around reenacting stuff, was an exciting time to be a kid
@@xxxCrackerJack501xxx we deserve a continuation, the DCAU in my opinion is better than the MCU. It was better planned and more serious than MCU. Not hating on marvel btw, I just think DC is better at animation.
@@xxxCrackerJack501xxx I also heard spectacular Spider-Man is great. I haven’t seen it since I was a kid and I’m trying to rewatch it. But I have some memories and videos to say it’s sort of on par with dcau
I am a Brazilian, and here static shock is known by everyone,it’s even more popular than Justice league and Batman TAS,it was on during lunch time and everyone here remembers running home after school to watch it.
The idea of Static not being as popular as some of the other DCAU series is so crazy to me. He was my favourite superhero growing up and I really missed the show when it was gone
The Static Shock show was *huge* here in Brazil when it originally aired. I really think more people here watched Static Shock than the two Justice League shows and Batman TAS.
I think it is because it never aired in Asian countries where dcau was really really popular In my country we never got static shock while every other dcau show was aired and dubbed in our language ( even Zeta project) I have watched static shock and loved it
Static is definitely popular here in the United States but he is not used as much in comics. He got a reboot comic in the early 2010’s which got cancelled after a few issues and recently got another reboot that I believe is still ongoing
I’d just like to add something: I own, right now, a BtAS interactive (you could push buttons to add sound effects) children’s book with four separate short stories written just like the episodes - and in the Timm BtAS art style. 1) A Riddler story about him abducting a kid (and rigging him with explosives!). This one has actual detective work and riddles. 2) A Mr. Freeze story about Mr. Freeze bringing a new ice age to Gotham City in order to bring Ice Age animals (like the mammoth and sabre-tooth) back to life. 3) A Mad Hatter story about him trying to take control of Gotham City with hats and gas. Alice is mind-controlled in this one. 4) A Penguin story involving the Penguin stealing some cat statue that Catwoman was obviously interested in. (I remember very little about this one)
@@dcauwatchtower The book is very special to me as I only owned 4 episodes of BtAS and this book. They were so good that I have loved Batman ever since.
This is a video that every DC fan needs to watch, the dcau in the 90s and 2000s was a significant part of my childhood, and I'm glad it was. Thank God for blu ray
I had bought " The Batman-Superman Movie " and i had rent the crap out of the Batman Beyond VHS tape when it hit the video stores. I also used to own VHS tapes with BTAS episodes. I owned: 1) Fire & Ice 2) The Penguin 3) The Joker 4) The Riddler
The Batman/Superman Movie is what mostly introduced me to Superman's entire lore, Lois, Lex Luthor, and such. I knew who Superman was but never cared about him until that movie and see how cool he was compared to Batman.
Because one of my uncles knew of my obsession with these DCAU shows as a youngster, I got a series of about 6-12 consecutive Gotham Adventures comics for Christmas that were all fantastic. It was just another step toward my love of not just superhero animation, but of the comics as well.
I consider Young Justice the only DC animated show to match the quality of golden age of the DCAU(Batman 1992 ,Superman 1996 ,Justice League/Unlimited,Batman Beyond,Static Shock) Honestly, characters like Ms Martian,Aqualad, and Red Arrow/Arsenal are some of my favorite DC superheroes and my introduction to them was this show.
yes! I agree but im a little confused because I thought young justice was a part of the DCAU if not in what order should I fit that into, like if I were to watch young justice when should I watch it, after what show?
I have the whole Timmverse on VHS with and without commercials thanks to my dad than bought them all on dvd and now have them on streaming services. I will always have them lol
Also, holy crap, I just noticed that James has the awesome JL snowglobe as a part of the new background display! I was really ready to shell out the money for that this past Christmas season, but forgot. Those things are super rare, but, if anyone is going to have one, it may as well be James!
Funnily enough, I think the Gorilla Grodd episodes were some of the only JL episodes I DID have on tape. I think Cartoon Network had a Justice League marathon once, so I just filled up a tape with as many episodes as I could. Also, Zeta fans are even worse off in Australia. We still haven't got a DVD release here! It and Static Shock are the only two DCAU shows we can't get. A few years ago they finally released Batman Beyond on Blu-Ray here, so I thought that maybe we'd finally get Zeta, but nope! 😣That show was my first experience with the pain of having a beloved show cancelled.
Wow, just found this channel today! I've been interested in re-watching the DCAU recently so I guess that's how I found it. But let me say: your sense of humor, editing, and overall quality of the video is amazing! There were many laugh-out-loud moments in this video and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I just dropped a sub, keep making videos because this was great!
Man, I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!! I've been trying for YEARS to make a canon timeline for this universe! I would spend DAYS AND DAYS, trying to figure out this very complex puzzle, and you have given me a map!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!! God bless and have a thwipping shway day!!!
You’re welcome! Glad it’s super helpful for you! We’re always working on the DCAU timeline-I would HIGHLY recommend our “Vanishing Point” and “History of the DCAU” playlists!
These forgotten WB shows were actually very popular in Brazil. Project Zeta and Supershock really stuck to the kids almost just as much as Justice League
And then there's the board games! I've got Rogue's Gallery, the Dice Game, Almost got 'm, Gotham under siege, and of course Shadow of the Bat on Kickstarter coming (hopefully) soon!
Random comment, the JLU episode "Flash and Substance" made me want a Flash series once (Might have been fun). I also once thought a Green Lantern show would have been fun, similar to the one we later got in CGI form more or less. Oh well, the road not taken. Great video by the way!!!
Yeah,I love this universe but it could’ve done what the movies did or what marvel did where they did separate shows as well like Wonder Woman, green lantern and flash
Just for fun: here in brazil, the dcau shows as been reprized so many times, that they became classics for 90s and early 2000s kids. and static shock is a phenomenon, so much that, after batman, it's the dcau favorite super hero for many people.
I'm still mad we didn't see conner kent as superman in batman beyond. Could you image how amazing it would be to see him and terry fight together, especially since there both cadmus projects made from batman and supermans dna and made to replace them?
Super succinct vid on how to get introduced to the tiers of canon (and non canon alike), and def a great intro video if I ever had to show newcomers. Hella good job databois.
@itachi uchiha Series and as the series go on watch the movies related to the series if you look up on RU-vid when to watch what you should be in good shape.
@itachi uchiha Well Watch Batman the animated series first and then if u go to the end of this video you can see a list that tells you exactly what to watch and When
7:47 simple for season 3 combine it with something so messed up and dark that you’d have to give zeta guns because everything makes the idea of “oh no that’s a gun in a kid’s show” look tame by comparison.
Thank you sir. Even tho I watched all of these movies already (and many times), sometimes I had no idea what was going on....btw. highly recommend Batman Under The Red Hood movie for those who haven't seen it yet. masterpiece
Thanks for this, I have gone completely insane and tried to do as much overall DC media, and this definitely helped with trying to figure out how to do DCAU
Zeta Project story idea: the government gets sick of failure and pulls out a mothballed old project. The newest iteration of Task Force X is made using Batman Beyond villains. The person in charge of the project is a huge fan of Waller's old work and devoted adherent to Waller, but also equally a fan of the classic Batman because they're aware of you know, and have no animosity towards the hero community. They just believe it's their job to go where heroes don't dealing with things that heroes don't but respect and admire Batman's courage, heart, and tenacity. The new TFX however? The Dees (you gotta have a Harley), Curaré (the muscle), Shriek (tech), Spellbinder (social/stealth role), Mad Stan (demolitions/because irony!) and heading the team, Inque.
I know it's a big ask, as it's sure to be a tedious endeavor to play them, but I think it would make for a great video if you went through all the DCAU flash games and try to will 'em (dafoe) canon. If those BK comics can be canon, slag it, so can these!
Very comprehensive video! but I guess that's to be expected from the biggest DCAU fan. Do you have any advice on what DVD releases of these shows are the best ones, and which to avoid? I need to know what plastic circles are best at having Batman on them.
Spot on with Cartoon Networks poor marketing of their shows during the time of Justice league... I definitely missed a few episodes because of lack of communicating
I do indeed love to watch this during online class since this is far more important to watch. Oh yeah, this is also for the algorithm beast. EAT BUDDY, EAT.
Watchtower did you know it was gonna be a justice league game for ps2 that was canceled? (Prototype video are in youtube) You can talk about that in next video. Hello if you post this e.e
10:41 I remember the air dates were wildly inconsistent. I think it was supposed to be Thursdays at 10 P.M, I'd come home to watch the next episode (I set the VCR to record) and to my dismay it was samurai jack or some shit. I eventually gave up and didn't watch the show until it was released on DVD.
i am new to the watchtower. but not the dcau, and i must say i absoluty love these videos and dont know how i never came across them before .i have binge watched most of them, as i thought i was the only insane person who asked themselves these questions about dcau timelines and continuity . I LOVE THE WATCHTOWER best channel on yt
I wish I had grown up with this era of superhero TV and film. And liked DC more. I didn't like DC as much as Marvel when I was a kid and now I prefer DC. Probably because I'm actually reading comic books now and there's something about DC that intrigues me.
I think of those non-cannon books as other universes of the DCAU and I thought I was the only who remembered that Disney Channel reference. (I'm lowkey hope you're okay James after your C-19 situation a month ago.)
