I think it’s better to use a hair dryer at low heat to melt the wax. It would look cleaner I think.

I read on their website that the classic Kånken is made from Nylon F. It is a waterproof fabric that does not need to be waxed. For wax, other models from a different fabric are suitable.

Hi Lucy! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with the Kånken Classic backpack. The Kånken is not waterproof but the bag's Vinylon F material is water-resistant. Even though it may not necessarily require it, we've found a way to make it more water-resistant by waxing it. Ultimately, personal preference and experimentation are key when it comes to maintaining and customizing our belongings. It's always interesting to see how our experiments work out. You should NOT be waxing your Kanken unless it is the no 2 version made of g1000, which this is not. This is the original which is made from the vinylon material, DO NOT WAX!!! Please do your research before telling others how to ruin their bags. 😢

Hey, it neither feels greasy nor stains your clothes. Start with less and apply more if you need it. Really important to iron it afterwards. But be careful not to burn the straps with the iron 😊 glad to help you
