I've been wearing overcoats casually for years, not only do I like the look, but judging from the compliments I get, so do others. I've three for formal wear with suits and four more casual ones for over a sweater, vest, or shirt. I agree that camel and navy are easy neutral colors, but I have a light gray lightweight overcoat that goes with about everything. Some I've had twenty years or more and still look contemporary. Keep up the good work guys.
@@jamesmontoban1338 I do, the more formal ones are a size up from my normal jacket size so to fit more comfortably, the “everyday” ones are in my regular size, as I’ll wear them with just a sweater, vest, or shirt under them.
@@stephen1991 man, thanks for the info Definitely will take that into consideration. I'm new to wearing overcoat but I love the look. I'll probably have to get 2 sizes of the same overcoats, one size up for suits and one for casual wear.
it's really awesome when the two of you come together to shoot the video. reminds me of the old gents lounge. i understand that blake has other priorities so george runs the channel more from his end, but definitely more pleasing to watch you both together. cheers!
I really love overcoats . When summer is turning into fall I really look forward to bring out the coats. I bought a camel coat on sale and a pattern charcoal colored coat a size down. Love them both
Hi guys, great video My overcoat arrived and i sized down. When I put it on its slightly too small for me as it won’t close shut. Is that an issue in your opinion? It looks good with a scarf like you wore in this video. Does the overcoat have be able to close though in your opinion pls. Thanks
I'm short but I'm still gonna wear a trench man, especially when it's cold or rains. It fits slightly above the knee, and has all flaps you can imagine, storm break on the back and stuff. Good coat, not water proof but it works
Gent's Lounge 1:51 look at. Slow mo. Look at the arm. The shoulder material. The crease. The width of the sleeve at the wrist. The model the tailor used for that coat had orangutan arms.
What about a budget option of suits ....and looks to go with them ......? I’m in the uk ..and love trying to look stylish on a budget ....thanks for the great con tent guys ...keep it up ....
Just got one from JCREW yesterday for $100 with all my discount I got the camel color fits like a dream thanks guys! I have a multi color one from polo I’ve had for 3 yrs never worn 🤦🏽♂️
I have climate control, so I tend to just lounge around in some Woolen pants I had made with an elasticated waistband, and a t shirt. Going out for a short trip when it's really cold is the perfect time to use an overcoat for me since it's a single layer I can don and shed quickly and that will keep me warm. I hate having to dress up ajd down going in and out of the house. I used to do the same with a parka, but realized this was better. I'd recommend anyone in a cold area to get a bridge coat. It's literally just a long peacoat. I had one made of a 28oz wool fabric in Hong Kong, but schott makes one as well. Probably more expensive, but it's the most vwesitile winter piece I have. I got mine in black just to ease marching.
I want that camel coat. Simple design, but so hard to find. I like the stitching on the collar, chest pocket. What material is that made out of? I can’t make out if that is wool.
You’re confused between an overcoat and a suit. Overcoats are supposed to be an outer cover, unlike suits that come right after the long sleeve shirt. Therefore there should be enough space in its arms so when you’re wearing suits, it won’t be squeezing tight. Otherwise it doesn’t serve the purpose. But you seem to be showing what look like a slimfit overcoat here. It’s your taste anyway, but a slimfit overcoat looks a bit odd. Reminds me of a limousine Ferrari 360 modena (basically a sports car stretched to be a limousine) I saw one time.
Hi ....I always get confuse while buying long coat since I prefer a fitted clothes even a coat .what all I should keep in mind .Does it have any disparity between man &women
Guys! I am currently looking for an overcoat and I have a great question for you. I noticed that you never recommended black as a color. I notice on pintrest lots of the style guys use black (as well as your other recommendations). My question is, for streetwear/casual, doesn't black work better than navy? Shouldn't black be in your list? Think about it
Up to you. My wardrobe is very much navy grey and other neutrals. Black is great too. I just think a camel coat with an all black outfit would look better and for an expensive piece like an overcoat I want something that works the best for the rest of my wardrobe.
@@gentslounge I totally agree with your point of view here. Camel seems to work with everything, black- almost everything. I bought this navy one yesterday, but I don't like how it looks with black pants. So I think I will go with camel... or black. Lol. Anyways, thanks!!
Great vid guys! Can I wear this to college? (as in UK; Highschool) with a black back pack, but got; adidas letters on it? Or I've got hand pack same color same brand letters lol
Question: The formal overcoats that you gentleman showed from Indochino....do the same rules apply when purchasing those overcoats? Will the prices be lower if I wait to purchase at the end of season, or are Indochino. Prices the same all day everyday 24/7 365?
How do you sit down with an overcoat? I'm a college student and I'm not sure if I should be sitting down while wearing the coat or if I should take it off first
Unlike blazer which you shouldn't remove unless you absolutely have to (you should only unbutton it) it's best to drape your overcoat over the back of the chair or simply ask where you can hang it.
Sure! It can add a fun pop to the look but I wouldn’t double up if you’re wearing a suit underneath your overcoat and already have a pocket square in the suit,
Im looking to buy an overcoat, but im thinking would it be good to wear it with designer sneakers such at the all black valentino rockrunner? Im trying to put together a few outfits...
This might be a late reply but i also live in the Philippines, 5'10 skinny guy and have a camel overcoat that is just above my knees and a oversized black overcoat 3 inches below the knee, and for me the best option for wearing an overcoat is between months of October to February where typically a rainy and colder season of our country so dont hesitate buying one just wear it on the appropriate time and weather.
My 5 year old watched this with me and she said about Blake that he, “is a really good looking boy.” Don’t know if that means she can pick out good style or likes older men already 🤦🏽♂️
Gent's Lounge that’s the thing. They don’t make these things short enough that they’d fall above my knees. At least none that I’ve been able to find. 😞
