Nice Job Sir lookin good. The Bent Wing Bastard or Whistling Death. You did a Great job... Remember these Birds served in the Pacific on the deck of Carriers or parked outside on a Dirt Or Muddy Airfield on a island. Salty air and salt water spray. Nothing looks better than a Battle Hardened War Bird.
Thanks for your Comment! I am loving all the documentaries and footage available on these birds! So fun hearing the stories and seeing the footage! Thanks for watching!
@@thelightersideofrc Not a Problem Sir....Check out Footage and Videos about the Black Sheep Squadron if you haven't already. Cant wait to see her fly.....
I've watched this build from start to finsh!! and have got to say you did an amazing job!! and the weathering job you have done is second to none!! fantastic build series, fantastic job and fantastic Corsair!! I take my hat off to you sir : )
Great build series, and especially like the Weathering Howto. Am close to finishing a Byron Corsair I started 30 years ago (Got distracted with other models and life), and this has helped immensely. Thank you!
Hey there, I think your work is really awesome (understatement) for lack of a better word. It really gives the right kind of metallic look to the plastic (or plywood, not sure what it is) but just by looking at the video I can't really tell. If you could upload some stills under different lighting conditions that will really bring out the effect that you are trying to create that would be very helpful. Thanks,
Thanks for watching and the compliment! 😊. The plane center wing is fiberglass and the rest of the plane is light wood with covering. So a mix of surfaces. The final result was awesome. Really doesn’t show its beauty in video or photos.
Nice video. Ignore the FB grammar jerks about 'decals'. Question however. I thought the control services were fabric covered so would show paint fade and not metal wear. This is a question and not a criticism. Good job.
Hi Jonathan, I really enjoyed this vid. I am a massive fan of the Corsair, and the Sea Fury if I'm honest, but that thing looks fantastic. I am only pretty new to your channel, and thought you only worked with jets. I know that layers are one of the secrets to weathering, and you did just that and it came up a treat. I have weathered lots of static models before, but I have never done it to any of my RC models. I think probably due to cost of the models but what price is realism? I wonder tho, have you or any of those you know ever weathered any of your $20K jets? Thanks for a wonderfully detailed and in-depth, and enjoyable tutorial - you have me thinking now about applying these techniques to some models in my hanger! Cheers mate.
Hello Murray! Welcome to the channel! Thanks for watching and checking things out. For Flying I really enjoy turbine aircraft but for repairs and building it's basically anything goes and I enjoy it all. The New project (The PC-6) is a great example! Regarding weathering yea it looks great on most aircraft. I agree it's hard to do sometimes just purely based on the cost but there are planes, Like this corsair that just look proper with weathering. About 2 years ago now I did weather a 25K skymaster F18 1/6th scale jet. It absolutely transformed the airplane. Unfortunately this was before I started posting on RU-vid so no video of it. I do have some pics of the process and it's pretty dramatic! If you want to see them shoot me an email thelightersideofrc@gmail.com and I will send you some!
Two questions about weathering - my apologies if this has been covered. 1. Is the enamel paint you use fuel proof for Gas and Kerosene? 2. Do you use anything to glue down the Callie graphics so they don't come off?
The Corsair in your reference picture must be the one in the Fleet Air Arm museum in the UK. It looks that beaten up because it was repainted a different scheme in its service history and later the old scheme was restored for the museum.
Hello , which brand are the landing gear ? because I am really disappointed by the robarts I have only problems with and not even fly yet robart have already changed one to me last year and both are burn and I just plugged in to take them out for the settings !!! is really one problème this gear and they are no longer guaranteed ....
Most of my builds are other peoples planes. SOOO it really depends on who asks me to build something for them and what they are into. So quite possibly yes.
They are called “portable work stands”. Very common in the aircraft world here in Canada. We get them at “princess auto” locally. Here is a link to them if it works. www.princessauto.com/en/detail/330-lb-portable-work-stand/A-p8303125e
@@thelightersideofrc You're welcome Jon. I'm really enjoying your channel. You have a very authentic / easy manner in front of the camera. And big thanks to your wife for holding the camera... and her other contributions... 'man dolls'... made me laugh!! BTW, the irony of an Australian (me) calling out yanks for poor pronunciation!! Take care.
Did i just hear you say that the CONTROL SURFACE was in the wing in the way??? SERVO!!! SERVE-OH!!!! That little cover is for the aileron SERVO NOT THE CONTROL SURFACE!!!! The surface is behind the trailing edge of the wing...... its called the AILERON!!!! How on earth did you build this if you don't even know what's what??? Smdh.......
@@thelightersideofrc seriously when the instructions say to mount the control surface to the trailing edge of the wing...... if you really don't know the difference..... then...... how???? I haven't watched this whole build, i just clicked on this video just now..... so pardon me for being just a bit confused...... you misidentify the panel that was in the way of that deckel(?) And then claim that is the canadian pronunciation??? Really my only exposure to Canadian language differences is Ave's channel....... and i hardly notice any difference with his pronunciations......i meant no disrespect but calling the servo the surface really confused me........
I’m sure you’ve received a thousand comments on pronunciation of “D-cals”! It isn’t “Dekels”. I cringe that you’re an adult and mispronounce one of the most widely used terms in the model hobby! Not “Dekel”. 90% of your visitors left before your video was over. Sorry. Figure it out.
i'm going to assume your located in the US. Just imagine for a moment that people all over the world use different pronunciations for various words and it's OK that they do! I fly with my American friends all the time and they call a Turbine a 👳Turbin engine and I don't waste my energy trying to make them use the alternative pronunciations. Because they can all it what ever the heck they want! We call them Roof's and some folks call them RUFF's. I call it Milk and others call it MALK. Thanks for watching and for your concern over how I pronounce words! Glad someone cares so deeply!
