One thing that you talked about in this video that literally never occurred to me when trying to get closer to balance point was the power modes, so thank you for that. I have a 4th gen ZX10R and I love it but I want to be able to wheelie like that! Fuck, you make it look easy.
Ive been chasing wheelies for years on 2011 r1 power 5 and toci. This video was talking to me on a whole other level 😂 I've gotten them up to 140 shifting gears sketch af. But I've been doing them that way for so long i got comfortable in the chasing "safe zone" every time i hit balance point i let engine brake take it back down. I hover my foot over the back break but i about never use it. The one time i did it came down so hard i almost lost it. I've been terrified of the coast and brake concept for 9yrs + this video inspired me to feather it a bit ima give it a shot. I needed advanced class😂 I've been stuck in beginner for damn near a decade. But for the record 1000s of " wheelie chases" but never wrecked on one.
The engine brake is insane on higher cc bikes. I hold in the clutch (on my fz09) when I do coasters. Next summer I'm going to practice dropping it back way further without clutch. That bike can go so far back. I do 12 o'clock with clutch and it feels like a dream 😍
It must be all the weight sportbikes have over the front of the bike... Let off and engine braking/weight of the front helps drop. Im learning on a CR85 and its pretty scary haha, zero engine braking at all with a 2 stroke...
I was chase the wheelie dude before the rear brake came into focus in the early 2000s. I remember grabbing 6th and seeing 140 go by on the cluster. It has it's fun points... The re-contact "squid marks" from the front wheel cover the road by the end of the season... Looks like an airport landing strip.. People in the neighbor hood were like WTF? This was an a carbed 2001 R1.. Not bad. My current 03 is an animal, twitchy AF and not wheelie friendly at all - it desperately needs a tune. The low end is dead and it rips your head off at 7K up. It's modified out the wazoo.
Trying to learn this on my MT-10(year 2016 model). Did they change the Mode settings? Beacause according to my handbook 'B' is the most "sporty"-mode. A is less sport and STD(standard) is the softest mode. Been practicing getting to the balance point, starting to get the speed down but still chasing a bit. But slow and steady, no crash cage, usually practicing alone, dont really want to risk it. But I'll take your advice and practice braking more! Thanks for the vid!
Oil light comes on because it’s an oil level sensor not a pressure sensor so anytime your going fast and the oil is circulating or in a wheelie for long the oil level sensor will go off.
I wheelie a cb1000r,You can put your weight forward and it still has enough power to bring it up uncomfortably quick,On a 1000 feel free to lean foward your not stopping it from comeing up but you might prevent yourself from looping if your just starting to balance point them
The infamous former kingpin Alpo was doing 12 o'clock and superman wheelies on an GSXR 1100 in the 80's throughout NYC corner to corner, also doing doughnuts covering himself in smoke, if he wrecked a bike he would leave it scrapped on the street and go buy another one, some people thought he was crazy and some were amazed because they never seen anyone else doing that in the city streets. I wanted to see what it looks like to get a powerful bike like that up that's how I got to this video 👍
Looks so smooth. I press the clutch and coast in first gear at 12-15 mph. I rev to 5000 and drop the clutch. I hope to see a baby wheelie, but I only experience a jerk. Z900
Hi there! I’ve an 11 model R1. I’m using B mode, 1st gear, from very slow speed like close to 30 to try to lift it. But each time I power it enough the rear tire skids to the side. Is it because my tire is too worn out/slippery? Is getting a new tyre a primary consideration for practicing to lift it or is it my technique that’s wrong?
I have a Ducati Multistrada 1200. Started learning wheelies on it but after popping the wheel up more often I decided to stop it and purchase a stunt bike. My question is,when you learn on a stunt bike,is it easy to transfer those skills to a street bike? Or d
thank you for finally saying what i always have been. especially on max wrists channel. he clams he wheelies all the time which he doesnt. there is a HUGE difference in knowing how to actully wheelie at BP and just chasing out a wheelie!!! anyone now a days says they can wheelie when in reality they are chasing it out
bro I can't even chase a wheelie I'm a little bitch lmao I like instinctively can't give it enough throttle to get the front wheel up on my cb1000r and I don't even want to try clutching it up because I know I'll wreck the fucking thing haha
@@NailNNY i got a 2012 cbr1000rr that i wheelie i start in first at like 12 miles an hour ( i changed my sprockets) and then cluthc it up i just cant coast it tho. shits kinda scary.
@@badgerman23 as a stunt rider who rides a grom and fz07 at shows as well as being a JUDGE at them I think I know a little more than you and have been in the stunt game longer. my job is LITTERLY doing wheelies and judging them. sorry if that hurts your feelings. chasing a wheelie isnt a wheelie. FACTS. I am not bad mouthing it. shit where do you think i started from.. i just never said I could wheelie before I actually did.
i highly suggest anyone who wanna perfect wheelies, and braking, to get a dirt bike. i bought a Drz400sm and within 3 months, i was wheeling pretty damn good and long. got a 09 Zx6r . wheelie that bby with ease.
At 01:13 he says power wheelie its very easy .. and I can't even lift it up .. 😭😭😭 funny how easy you make it look like but whem we try .. 🙄🤣🤦♂️ I watch ur videos over n over again 😅
learning wheelies on my SV1000s but im just loading the front and power wheeling. V Twin clutch up is very touchy i'm starting small because shes all i got right now..
Since u had a 1st gen fzo9 quick question to help a FELLOW brah out I got a 2020 mt09 the only difference is I can turn traction control on which for wheelies of course you dont want tc on tryna learn wheelies but any tips? Should i Follow same guidelines as r1 tutorial here or is it easier, harder? Il definitely take any tips you have for me to heart homie the fz07 was so much easier and I traded that in for my 09 but I'm not gonna lie the 09 is a beast. I just figured since you had one, you could probably help me better than anyone even if it's a small suggestion I'm all ears 👂💯 always enjoy the content brotha 🤙✌
Bro do you do any modifications to the oil pick up on your bikes? Or are they good to go for long ass 12 o clockers? And what kinda stuff breaks from wheelies apart from forkseals?
Depends on the model of bike. Most Honda and Kawi you can just get away with over filling the oil by a half qt or a tad more and you won’t run into starvation issues. Some 636s actually have the pickup to the rear from the factory, and the biggest problem I see with guys needing to do the oil pickup mods is on GSXRs, but then they just starve for oil under long stoppies now instead of long wheelies lol.
How'd you learn to ride? Do you think a hypernaked bike is better to start on? Or is it fine if i develop the foundation on a small sport bike? 250 300 etc
I have a 2012 R1 as well...And when my bike is in “B” mode, it likes to stutter and stuff at SLOW speeds!! I started on the “Standard” mode...I feel like that’s putting the bike at like 750 cc’s!! Still trying to learn how to wheelie Dumping the Clutch 🤦♂️🤦♂️ u make it look so damn Easy Peezy 😂🤣 Overall, cool videO BrO!
Nice work as usual. Not sure why so many people are fearful to bring a 1k to balance point though. Typically they’re only 30-40lbs heavier than a 600 just with a lot more power so if you have your throttle and brake control down it shouldn’t be much different on a liter bike than a 600.
@@JayDay013 the only difference is in how you bring the machine up. I don’t care if you’re trying to wheelie a H2 or a Moped I assure the mechanics are exactly the same. Balance point, brake and throttle control. The end.
@@kennethpowers8995im here to tell you, there was big difference in finding balance point with my 2 stroke supermoto vs My now 600cc, balance point is way futher back and theres More speed involved
I've always wanted to learn how to wheelie but I find I'm just simply bad at it. I just acquired a 2005 R1 and I was gonna try chasing a couple wheelies. I most likely won't hurt myself
Any tips for wheelie chasers who still get scared when the bike goes weightless? That's where I'm at...still. Don't wanna wreck my FZ-09 but maybe some crash bars will put my mind at ease.
