Me too, but I need some tips. What do you use as a replacement for the clutch? Or do the shopping carts you push have clutches? For the throttle I just twist the plastic thing on the handle.

You can do all this and continue to suck at wheeling UNLESS you overcome the fear of looping it. If you are doing what he says, you'll be wheeling at speeds that are slow enough to where if you do loop it, you can jump off and possibly save the bike as well. You have to get over the fear of falling back or you won't ever hold a wheelie. Another thing a lot of people don't mention is that there is a point where the bike will want to balance itself. I'd say a little past 10 o clock or around 11. Once you bring the front end up to this angle and get a feel for it a couple times, you'll master wheelies in no time. And ALWAYS keep your foot over the rear brake. I've ridden dirt bikes and street bikes and have never looped either because I ALWAYS hovered my foot over my rear brake. You can also adjust the break lever to a lower position so that you don't have to "hover" your foot over it. Just my two cents. Hope it helps.

Edwin D you are very right. first time I ever tried to wheelie, I powered my cbr600rr up and got to balance point that I ride it out for a while and end my looping it. I have not been able to bring my wheel up since then. That is the main reason I just bought a dirt bike so that I can learn in a safe environment. I went out yesterday for the first and if you watch the video, it is obvious that I’m scared and couldn’t bring the wheel up.
@tylermcguyrt5207

Maybe he covered this in the video and i didn’t catch it but during a wheelie do you need to feather the clutch in order to keep it from stalling especially on a newer 450

Tried to do a wheelie, realised I had no chain... bought a new chain and realised I didn't have a bike. Does this method work without the use of a bike?
@TheMxFactory
@TheMxFactory 6 лет назад
+Andy Kelly Unfortunately this technique requires the use of a real live dirt bike between your legs. But the same methods do apply with a toy horse that can be picked up from your local Toy Store. Tell them The Mx Factory sent you for a 10% discount on your toy horse. If they haven't heard of The Mx Factory and don't honor the discount, simply throw the toy horse downward and yell loudly "I didn't want this stupid toy horse anyway!" Then run out of the store crying until you are at least 100 feet away. Then proceed with your day as normal.

The first time I ever rode a dirt bike when I was 11, I just got my brand spanking new 2002 tt-r 125. I couldn’t figure out the clutch, stalled like 4-5 times then I got pissed off and revved it up and let go of the clutch pretty smooth and quickly. The front end popped up and I started riding away. I had no idea I was doing a wheelie. I remember thinking “huh this feels weird seems higher up than I remember when I was sitting on it, oh well I guess this is normal”. Then I tried to turn my front wheel and nothing happened. All of a sudden I realize holy fuck I’m doing a wheelie. I let it ride for a second than thought this could end badly So I let the throttle go and it went back down smooth. I rode away like a champ and started rippin around like a pro. Haven’t been able to ride a wheelie that good since. I’ve never looped out because of the back brake but still couldn’t ever find the perfect balance point. I started getting ok at them when I got my yzf250 but it got stolen so fuck me right. I’m trying to save up to buy a beater and fix it up with no mechanical knowledge. Wish a nibba luck.

I learned on mountain bikes and I think it helps when you have the rear break at your fingertip. You gotta get used to tapping the break when you get to high. Still can only chase wheelies if I’m standing up as I’m not good at using the break while standing. Also learning on a little bike helps as your focusing on balance and not relying on the power to chase it

@nigelsenchez

I suggest compressing the front forks before doing the wheelies, either with front or rear brake. Then as the forks rebound, pull back/release clutch. All you need is about 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. timing and precision is everything. Cover that rear break. Good luck with the side to side balance. That will take years to master.

Soooo... I learned (after lots and lots of practice) to do decent wheelies with a "fiddy" small 150cc bike, doing good at keeping balance point and using the rear brake, turning a little bit from side to side and so on, can also do them slow in first gear and faster in second. I felt like i got it, finally i could wheelie. I recently got me a husqvarna fe 501 from 2018 and since it has bigger wheels and is a real quality bike i was sure doing wheelies would be smooth like a dream. Then i tried it and got overwhelmed by the insane power on the 111 kg bike.. It has so much more power than i expected and it feels really sketchy imagining giving throttle and popping the clutch! I'm afraid i'll whisky throttle it or something.. Doing power wheelies is easy in most gears, but since i gain a lot of speed doing that i haven't felt comfortable to keep it coming until balance point. Not sure what the hell to do.. How should i approach wheelies on this bike?? It feels like i need to learn wheelies all again or something :/ But at the same time i'm pretty sure once i get it in balance point things will get smooth, it's just really aggressive popping up. Cheers

What’s the optimal gear to be in? I always figured it was 2nd but I could be wrong
@realtitangamer

I thought the same. First gear is way to aggressive, I only use it on steep hills. how is your progress going?

I just went from a 150 4t to a 125 2t and first weekend out properly riding usually had to sit back ALOT (I’m 6”0), was getting front up okay, and tried to hold a wheelie higher up, and I didn’t properly use by back brake, (I was scared and took my right foot off) and ended up falling backwards! All good :) not hurt which is most important and I think bike is all good! Learning lesson, will practice little front ups.

When you do a slow wheelie, and you need to use rear brake, do you use clutch when you apply brake???
@TheMxFactory
@TheMxFactory 6 лет назад
+Pierce Dwyer No, the clutch just helps maintain the smooth throttle. In a perfect slow wheelie you wouldn't touch the clutch, just smooth throttle and apply rear brake lightly when you feel your going over backwards. Slamming it will bring your front wheel to the ground, but lightly using it without the clutch will help keep you in your balance point.

Any tips on keeping the bike straight? I always end up going sideways more than looping out.
@TheMxFactory
@TheMxFactory 7 лет назад
+universalsoldier008 That generally involves the motion of your front wheel. The gyro effect will keep your bike going straight. That said, when you pop into a wheelie, try and notice if your front wheel is still moving, it will help a lot. Also, make sure your body is symmetrical on the bike, as in butt centered on seat, feet in same position on each foot peg, elbows same level, all these factors aid in keeping straight instead of falling to one side. Happy practicing!

Do i have to drop the clutch and gas it at the same time, or do i rev for a second and then drop the clutch? (which is what i've been doing) I have a 2 stroke if that makes any difference.

They need to sell back fenders with hinges for rookies like me. BTW, is it easier to do wheelies on a 4T? Seems like the ability to lug the bike (slow wheelies) would help a lot. Subbed...
@TheMxFactory
@TheMxFactory 7 лет назад
Van Alstyne we actually find that they're a little easier on 2-strokes because the power is a little more manageable at that slow of a speed. Thanks for the comment !

4T is easier to get up into a wheelie because they have more torque and usually easier to manage during the wheelie.

Great..but no mention of which gear to use?..1st 2nd 3rd?..
@TheMxFactory
@TheMxFactory 7 лет назад
+Bryan Beresford There's a quick little section in the video that mentions gear use, but it can be easily missed. 1st gear is best when learning and practicing because it will prevent speed wheelies. 2nd or 3rd gear may allow too much speed and you'll miss practicing the actual slow balance skill.

@-JohnSmith-
@-JohnSmith- 5 лет назад
0fficial Nassy Let the front end come down a little then give it just enough gas to bring it up past balance point but before you actually get past balance point let off the throttle and just shift quick and hit the rear brake to continue riding it out...
