A detailed breakdown through every step you need to know whilst learning to wheelie your MTB! If you have any further questions then let me know and I hope the video helps you! :)
I would have liked so much to find this video when I learnt doing wheelies... but now I can do I am proud I learnt alone... so keep going and u’ll do wheelies perfectly 👌🔥
This is the best tutorial I have seen yet. The head on angle was very helpful for me as I suffer from the "wobbles". It was helpful to se how you corrected the side to side movement. Thanks!!
Big up!, on the tips. Thanks. Eyes looking beyond front wheel! This was extremely helpful. Practiced pulling over and stepping off. Practiced brake modulation. Been practicing 40-50 minutes daily, 2 days on 1 day off. It’s all coming together. Great tips! Great informative video. Hope to be comfortably wheelieing by end of Sept. 2019! Woooooooooo
Just wanted to add, I made my greatest improvement after watching this video and putting my eyes way out in front. This lifts the chin and head and seemed to coordinate better pull~up/lift and into a wheelie position. Thanks!
Thanks @Tom Cardy for a great "how to". I'm been trying to learn how to wheelie for a few days now. Just after watching your vid it kind of clicked for me. (and I'm been looking at tons of videos) Trying on a very low gear and almost standing still before pulling up to find the balance point and when hitting the brake. Just keep doing this until I’m super comfy with feathering that brake. Soo much more in control when I'm going slow, at least this works great for me and I got the inspiration for seeing you riding super slow on your back wheel. A few more day of practice before hitting the Manual :( Cheers
I am currently learning how to wheelie my progression is pretty good as i can wheelie about the size of a intersection which is quite good as I have been at it for a week or 2 now. My biggest tip is dont focus on speed or distance work on your confidence of pulling up and using the brake. The hardest part for me is either using the break or my wheel not staying straight. DONT GIVE UP! TRUST THE PROCESS
I almost had the wheelie down I kept practicing and practicing but one day I woke up and just couldn't wheelie its been about a week now and I've only been getting worse.
@@DM-bw3rd doesn't look like a crap bike on the internet tho... i have a giant talon 27,5 (don't know the exact model name). It works perfect for wheelies and everything. I'm practicing one-hand wheelies right now :) but i can “only“ do them for like 5 seconds
Tom, I've done the part where you pull the wheel up really well. I ride forwards in that position for like 3 metres and then I start leaning to the side and I have to bring the front wheel down. Whats your advice. Thanks.
You only need one or two fingers on the brake. When I first started trying wheelies, I also did this but then I quickly realised that doesn’t work you only need one/two fingers on it. Hope this helped :)
please help me...im getting good balance and when im looping out i can control with back brake..but the wheelie keeps going too fast and i cant slow it down...how do i slow it down.got it he said slow down pedaling when leaning back and using brake ...ill try this slowing down pedalling..been doing a lot f speeding up ..but very little slowing down.
Im just starting these interests with the MTB since i got gifted one, but quick question. The manual is different from a wheelie? I get the same concept but the technique is different for each. One's on a high seat and pedalling, the other's not. So, i cant use them on a single run?
Very good video. However, I would like to offer i tiny bit of constructive criticism: the intro music seems to be too loud compared to the rest of the video. Looking forward to seeing more from you!
I go out like everyday but it's so hard to make lots of progress because ITS SO DAMN WINDY. it feels like everytime I pull up to make an attempt, the wind picks up by 75mph
Do I need a fancy bike for this? Mines is a 90s steel frame mountain bike with no suspension and v-brakes. Can I learn to wheelie on this or should I save up for something else?
My biggest problem is having my one finger on the rear break. I do it but I girl the handle bars too much and then my hand just automatically holds the back break. And tips?
It takes me two to three fingers to use the back break even if i tap the brake one with one finger it dosent work so i am scared to find balance find plz help
