Divya I am doing my best with want I have at this time. I have a micro phone coming and I use my smart phone and I movie. I will get lighting and better editing software in time. But I have only been doing this for a few months now. I am learning as I go. Please remember I am also running my soap business and I am only am doing these videos to help my peers grow there businesses.
I hope everyone that is watching really understand what you are doing. You have done all the work and are giving us the benefits of that. Thank you Joanna for your gift of knowledge to all of us that have NONE!!!
You make an exceptionally salient point between 8:00 and 8:24. You're spending your time and effort to make a product and by signing up a retail location you expect your customers to go there to purchase your product. They have the choice of buying from you online, which maybe doesn't have your full line of products because you as a wholesaler also want to drive people to the brick and mortar stores. They buy from those stores, it supports those businesses which in turn helps them grow. They keep stocking your product and everyone wins. When your prospective customer goes to that retail outlet and for whatever reason that location does not have your product, what are they going to do? They've gotten out of the house, driven to a that store, and are in the mood to buy. They are looking for something that they cannot live without, something new and exciting to try. There's also a very good chance they've never seen your competitors that are also on display, or indirect competitors for tangential products. The probability they go home empty handed if you're not on the shelves? I'd say pretty low. They're going to take home something else and there goes either a one time sale or the chance to grab that person as a long term customer much like your forager contact for Whole Foods. Long story long, if you're not there on the shelf, someone else is. If your retail location isn't stocking your product, you're directly advertising their business and your competitor's product for free.
Thank you for your help and for being so transparent. Your desire to want to help others get to the point you are at, which is not the "norm" in the soaping community.
SOAP GAL you are so inspirational, so thoughtful, beautiful and kind. I am a single momma, I kept asking the universe how do I sell my soap to better support us and at the same time providing customers with a healthy natural product i made myself. You have helped me so so very much. I'm so proud of you for being so brave to come on you tube and share your knowledge and your heart with all of us. THANK YOU
I know you did this video a while ago, but I wanted to let you know this is still very helpful to soapers who are just getting started. Thank you for being transparent and really explaining the inner works. You are amazing!
Hi Lisa! Oh my gosh what a sweet comment and I am thrilled to hear that! So glad to be an encouragement in your soap making journey and I'll be back soon. Appreciate your sweet words!!
Joanna, thank you for such a great breakdown. I kind of understood it before, but the whiteboard was super helpful. I hate math, but it needs to be done and this equation made sense to me. Your videos are just fine btw. Everything in its place and well planned. Thanks so much for just being you and being willing to share. : )
I am so appreciative of all that you have been doing for this industry, your wealth of knowledge is invaluable! Thank you so much! I was at a craft fair this weekend and had a couple of folks ask if I did wholesale and I told them I was considering it. One gal wanted my soaps in her store, it was such a huge compliment. I understand the money part but I have to get my head wrapped around creating a line sheet, etc. Thank you so, so much for your contribution, it is beyond helpful. Looking forward to YOUR continued success too! :-)
I just started watching your videos working from the oldest to the newest and I just want to say I am learning a lot from you so thank YOU! Also I love how happy and excited you get talking about this and teaching us. You bring a smile to my face. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. This video is definitely a reality check. Never as simple as it seems. So informative and helpful. I appreciate you! Love the shirt too.
They are at the powder coat shop now! Because of our girly colors they had to order them and the sparkle too! It will be worth the wait!! I AM SO Excited to see them!!!! Thank you for all the love and support!
Ok, I just fell in love with you! I have most of this and you just blew me away with the extra add ons! Then you're just so cute and cheerful at the end! Thank you for taking the time to help others out🤗
You are just so lovely! I love your enthusiasm and appreciate all of your knowledge that you're sharing with the community. Have a wonderful week, Joanna.
Thank you so much for being so informative! You're just as sweet as can be! I've watched all your videos and have learned so much! I'm always looking forward to the next one! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for all the information. Questions if the retailers are going to be selling your bars at $7 and your wholesale price is $3.50 where is your profit?? You would be selling your bars almost at cost??
Hi Joanna! I love watching your video. Do you include shipping fees when calculating the soap price or do you charge your wholesale costumers shipping separately when they order ?
Joanna thank you so much for taking the time to help other soapers to be successful! I appreciate your transparency! You covered wholesale in less than 10 minutes and made it very easy to comprehend.... God Bless You!
Thank you so much Joanna for your knowledge this is one of the major learning curves for me to come. Just desperate to see how you go about form filling good practice manfacturing how to fill a form in to get your soap certificated (I am in Europe) I just get so excited wednesdays and Sundays now. P.s I love your beautifull top. Xx
So have you discussed the line sheet yet? I hope I didn’t miss this. And will you also be discussing websites for our own businesses (like who does your’s?) one last question which card reader/chip reader do you use, when you did craft fairs. Sorry for all the questions. Thank you for all that you do.
Love, love, love your videos!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. If you don’t mind me asking, would you share some details on the form that you give the stores when they decide to carry your brand? It will help so much. Thank you!!!
Ty for info. I’m just learning this as a hobby but in my group they say I can’t claim soap does anything but clean skin. So how do you market a “detoxifying soap” ? Are we allowed in soap business(not cosmetic business) say it detoxifies skin? Ty in advance. And happy 4 you that your company is doing so well 😃
Great question! As long as you're not claiming that the soap will detoxify you you can say that it's a "detoxifying soap" due to the natural charcoal in it. You can make soft claims like it helps detoxify or is naturally detoxifying but would avoid hard claims like "it detoxifies the skin"
Hi; I saw you on another video cutting the edges of a soap bar I can't find that peace any were can you let me where to buy it. thank you, you are wonderful.
Joanna, thank you so much for these business videos...they are really helpful. My question to you: do you currently only wholesale that one bar, or several bars? Did you start wholesaling with just one bar or several? I know that you need to keep it a manageable number and I was thinking about starting with four or five bars. What are your thoughts? Jan
I have 19 sku in 5 collections 4 year round and 1 seasonal and 5 soap flights (samples of my collections) , but each collection has three bars and a soap flight. You can see my line sheet on the Soap Gal Facebook page and under menu in the sidebar is more wholesale bliss! Hope this answered your question. Start with one collections have it be consistent and you will be golden!
