This is pretty much how we used to do it, except no one ever wants to be one of the defenders. Some great hints in there for both new and seasoned players about e.g cool vantage points for ranged DPS to hang out at choke points, definitely better than my plan of just standing in the doorway.
Interesting how the meta has changed. Seems right now that everyone comes to SH and grind each other and slowly the horde take SHB and then the GY. Then it's just a move forward... I haven't lost AV yet but I just got above 55
Hello in June 2020, this has now degraded to 30 horde defending and 10 attacking wich leads to 45 to 50min games. Horde usually wins but honor per hour wise is bad for everyone compared to the 15min games of old.
I've not gone into AV in months, but what you're saying is what I hear from my friends that are still doing AV. Definitely has extended game lengths quite a bit.
Last night we wiped an Alliance Zerg rush in Frostwolf Keep. The skiped Galv and every tower and GY. With the entire Alliance confused and directionless, we turtled them for a solid hour. Even managed to summon the Ice Lord and it slowly lead us to an offensive victory. Alliance, if you want to rush the game, skip all strategy, and want an easy win: You can expect nothing but a real fight from us Horde. And you're damn right we'll turn your 7-minute easy-win into a 60-minute nightmare.

It's weird, I have never seen the Alliance cross the field of strife. There is always a massive bottle neck, Horde eventually pushes through (usually with Dad) and we win. This happens every time
I'm almost convinced the Horde use teleport hacks... For example, 60% of the Alliance team will take Iceblood and try to hold it. It seems like the whole Horde team is down there, and even is we slaughter dozens of horde in seconds... there s no lul in the fighting, they just keep coming. I die, res up north only to find the whole horde team is already up there even though they all just swarmed Iceblood moments ago... Like WTF? I swear they fucking teleport anywhere on the map in seconds.
This guide has some weak points. 1. DO NOT rush for Balinda. Yes, you going to kill her but you can do it AFTER capping IWB and SHB. There is enough time to do that. 2. Defending? Yes, you should defend SHB and IWB after capping. Rest should clear north after killing Balinda. 3. One or two Paladins can delay their second tower timer by delaying TP. Thats most of the time enough to get the second tower first as horde by nearly a minute. 4. It would probably be good to have 2-3 players in base to defend south towers in the base just to delay capping. The problem atm is players farming SH graveyard. So they dont go north and clear the last defending alliance players. That results in not getting the pull before alliance caps towers south and pulls the boss.
I will say this though. The alliance dominate WSG & AB - but only fools play those, and they usually do it with pre-mades. Now, the alliance (no clue how) but they managed 2 20man premades into the same AV. Didn't help them much. They zerged right into us, and it became a fight. They actually pushed us to IBGY and that was the limit. The team who hit SFGY came back and went right into their healers. Broke their line and we pushed them to SHGY where the battle raged - SH Bunker went down as we fought for every inch of ground. 5 men defense of IB land. Finally broke them with a massive push and capped the flag and they broke. We took the choke and then took Balinda's head. The entire time we are dominating this alliance pre-made...the Horde side is bickering over politics, racism, and retarded stuff. We literally - yelling at each other...still crushed a coordinated pre-made. They didn't cap any GY, any tower. They attempted Galv and got fucked...that was devastating.
Playing as Horde vs other EU Realms is almost a 95% win rate...however if we play against Russians its always a tough 70-30% +- for Alliance! Russians never rush!
This is wrong. What happens is you need to break the alliance zerg. Thats the meta. See which way they zerg and you counter zerg them. Hit their zerg hard, and fast. Break it. Take snowfall with 1-4 players while the rest hit Stonehearth where the Alliance usually regroups while 5-10 defend at IBGY. At that point, you break the alliance who try and dash out and you dampen their ability to zerg and attack. Take Stonehearth, then you hold the choke. As it caps, you back cap SH Bunker, all their Lts, Balinda, and then you press forward. Anyone can do turn ins now, and usually...we summon The Ice Lord - Lokholar, and the blood of a thousand alliance soldiers shall he spill. By that time, its game over. Even if the entire alliance team zergs right on by...they can't make up for lost time and anyone who dies hurts them greatly. Even with no one defending, they cannot win. If they go straight for Drek, the Marshals which number more then four will rape their entire team relentlessly quick dropping their numbers. By that time, Horde has pulled and killed the Alliance Marshals & Vann is going down.
